I rarely give 1 star reviews but I had to here! I went to Acme because I know they have slices of cake in stead of purchasing a whole cake. I needed a slice for an anniversary celebration. Tiramisu is a favorite so I was happy to see that they had it. It was a decent size for a decent price. When I got home and tasted it I was floored! Don't be fooled people, this was NOT tiramisu, it was vanilla cake with vanilla frosting, dusted but cocoa powder to appear like it's tiramisu. What a shame! Had zero coffee flavor and should not be labeled as something it is not! read more

I went to the ACME at Pike Creek for 3/4lb of ground beef from the meat and seafood section. No one was behind the counter to wait on customers. I patiently waited for about 10 minutes. I went to the service desk to ask if they could get someone to assist me. A call went out over the loud speaker. I returned to the meat and sea food section. Still no one responded. I went to the service desk a second time. I encounter a nice young man who was taking cheese to a customer and assured me he would com a nice lady who was wearing a Lancaster Brand visor. She volunteered to step in. Sadly, she had never worked the meat counter before. She asked me if I knew how to weigh the package my order. She did manage to complete my order. I have been shopping at this ACME for many years and it seems to be going down hill each time I visit. I am frustrated at the lack of hand baskets that I was told was stolen. Imagine someone who is friendly, efficient, who cares about what you need and does not mind bagging and may I say does it well. Someone who wishes you a better day than you wished her. I've about had it with Acme. Two times in a weeks span went there for red onions. Both times they were out...of red onions! Produce guy had no excuses, just said he ordered them. Why does every other store have them? Acme is over priced and produce is sub par. I will drive a little further to do major grocery shopping and go to Zingos for small shopping. read more

This Acme has a special place in my heart. My very first job was at this Acme. I turned 16 right before school let out at the end of my sophomore year and officially became a slave to the American capitalistic culture. I was hired to push carts and put groceries in bags. Due to my efficient skills, I was quickly promoted to cash register. Soon after, I further climbed the corporate ladder when I was moved to the bakery. That's right: I made cookies, pastries and decorated cakes. I always associate this job (and that summer) with the song "One Week" by Barenaked Ladies. It was a good first job that taught me to be on time, to make the most of my breaks, that eating salad for lunch wouldn't make me as tired as pizza, and that small conversation and a smile can make someone's day. I also memorized the codes for all fruits and vegetables (I had to take a test to use the register) and cleaned up baby vomit several times. Whenever I come back to Delaware, I make a trip here at least once when I decide to cook for my family. Sometimes I see people working that were there back in 1998. And some of these people are still rocking blonde-tipped highlights and The Rachel. I'm glad some things never change. read more

This ACME is the only one I'd shop! Staff is the friendliness. They are well stocked and parking is not a hassle.

We live nearby so we've been going to this location for that last 4 years. It WAS a store that was laid out nicely, flowed as expected, had wide aisles, everything we were looking for, etc. Well, some genius decided to destroy the store and change it. Now, the aisles are only wide enough to allow two carts to pass with no clearance, they've increased the shelf height so my short fiancée can't reach things up there, they've taken many popular items off the shelves, the employees are apparently upset as well complaining while we are in line. I guess they are being forced to interact with customers, with robot-like expressions and statements. They even ruined the express lanes (from 8 self-checkout lanes to 4 employee-assisted lanes). To be fair, I don't want to even be writing this but it's that upsetting. Every other person I speak to about it agrees, and I'd say go to the Lantana store up the street, but it's even worse ...you can't find a damn thing in that store (they do have better produce, though). I think the idea was to modernize the Pike Creek Acme and make it more like the Lantana store. Bad idea. read more

I go in here all the time because it's the closest place. It's always crowded and a pain in the butt to get in and out of but that's not the worst thing. I wouldn't usually write a review about an acme cause it seems lame but after yesterday I have to. I went into the acme for a bunch of fresh parsley for a dinner I was cooking. I went in and the place was jammed packed. On my way to the produce I walked past the customer service desk and heard a guy saying that there was a lot of rotting produce out and he thought someone should throw it out. I continued on to the parsley and when I got to it I noticed a lot of bunches had black, slimy leaves and stems. I went through about ten different bunches before finding one that didn't look too bad. Now acme charges top dollar for crap like this? And it's like this a lot. I have noticed that they have the highest produce prices for the worst quality stuff. Bagged lettuce is always brown, some veggies are just downright rotten and their herb selection looks like it fell off a truck out on limestone road and the acme manager decided to bring it while not even bothering to wash it off.
