I literally only come in for the lemon cake that they have for like six or seven dollars. It's absolutely delicious and it's so cheap for the amount of cake that you get. Whenever I need groceries, this is not my go to spot unless I want that lemon cake. I'll pick up a few items and then just get the cake. sometimes I'll get bubble tea from next-door, but it will always be the lemon cake that I'll 100% buy during my trip to giant. They also have a great selection of fruits, vegetables, and snacks and cereals. A great grocery store if it's convenient for you or if you love lemon cake. There's plenty of parking space and I never have a problem with parking too far away for the most part. It's also usually never too crowded no matter the time of day that you go so you don't have to worry about having to be stuck in a crowd or having a checkout line that's over 5 minutes. read more

This Giant store has a huge selection of items. Giant also has "Rewards Points" that you can use to discount your groceries or on Shell gasoline purchases. I use them for my gasoline purchases. The one thing I don't like about this particular store is the fresh produce section frequently doesn't have the freshest produce. I don't know whether they don't rotate it out as fast as they should or if they just don't have fresh produce. As a result, I shop for most of my fresh produce at Wegman's. read more

This store SUCKS !! Miserable people in all departments, especially checkout. I went in as Im there every day just because its close. I go in and buy a bagged salad for lunch, a banana and a donut....I grab a paper container from the soup area to eat my salad out of. At checkout, the bitch there says...you cant use that,its not free its for chilli. If you put that in your bag its theft and Im calling security !! I hadnt said a word yet. Where at the soup counter does it say, 1. you have to pay for the container if you dont get soup or chilli? Im buying food FROM THE STORE to eat in the container. 2.Where is there a price listed for the container if you dont get soup? I couldve stood their and argued with the ignorant bitches, but I had no time for that. I crumpled the container up and threw it on the floor at their feet and walked out. I'm here for work for a month, I've been in 3-4 times and If you look up Corrion (the name of the person in self checkout) in a thesaurus it'll say "disinterested, bored, personality-less, and couldn't give a shit about his customers". My god. I've dealt with some surly children in my years on the planet. He literally couldn't care less that you're there. Plenty of other groceries nearby. No need to stop here. I typically shop early AM before work. The store has very FEW customers during early hours (6-8am). Even though there are 8 EMPTY self-checkout registers available they will NOT let you use them if you have more than 20 items even though there are 0 people in line at that hour. They always only have 1 cashier on who will have a line - usually about 3-4 people of various size orders. There are often elderly people in line with small orders who COULD use the self-checkout but choose not to (for whatever reason) so that slows down getting through the 1 available line with a cashier. The employees who look over the self-checkout area are RUDE and more concerned with talking to their friends than helping customers who are trying to get errands done before going to work. It was so aggravating that I actually went to customer service (which I never do) to ask if they could get a 2nd cashier on OR let me use the self-checkout so I could be on my way....her attitude was bad "I don't make the rules. Take it up with corporate." Good thing I don't have that attitude on my job because my employer would not stand for giving our customers such nasty service. I have decided that I will stop going to Giant and go to the (much smaller and older) ACME which is actually closer to my house. The people at ACME are helpful and friendly and do their best to move people through during BUSY hours.... when it is empty they are even nicer to customers. read more

Cannot blame malodorous experience on COVID, this one is due to noseblindness and poor cleaning practices/not checking their inventory for expired items. We were immediately hit with smell of old foul grease from fried food - took it in stride as we can all make mistakes cooking and maybe they've been short staffed. Wasn't there for their prepared food so really didn't care. Walking through fish area it smelled rancid like something or many things were spoiled. Chalked that one up to well it's not like we live on coast for fresh seafood, gave another pass as was not there to buy fish. However, the third strike was the smell of death in the meat section, which sealed deal we weren't getting anything from store for fear of getting sick. Mentioned the smell to Customer Service personnel & that it was forcing us to shop elsewhere...met with look of disbelief as meanwhile a staff member meanders by holding their shirt above their masks and nose. Will never go back after that experience not worth risk of diarrhea or vomiting. That's pretty damn sad to say about a grocery store. read more

This is my usual grocery store --- it's near my house and has all of the basics, mostly reasonable prices, and a large parking lot, without all the chaos of the Acme which is a bit closer to my house and without the temptation to enter the store with a list of 12 items and leave with 43 (a la Trader Joe's... oops). At Giant, the produce is hit and miss --- usually, I can find what I want, though there have been times where I have dug through the bell peppers trying to find one that hadn't been scratched open or where they've been out of broccoli on the weekend. Their meats are pretty affordable with their sales, which are offered frequently enough that I can just buy in bulk and freeze if needed. I've even been able to find most of the more unique ingredients I've looked for, though there's often only one brand available. Overall, gets the job done for basic grocery shopping. read more

I manager a restaurant and my hours leave me shopping late night. Usually just before closing for this store. I usually scan my own items but lately it seems they have the overnight crew jumping on and ringing out the last few customers. Tonight I had the rudest man. I get your trying to get us out the door so you can get started and i most certainly do my part by bagging my own items. I could of stood there and waited for him to bag them like the person before me. As soon as he rung the last item i said what's the damage he says you need to swipe your card. I said I don't have one he says next time to make things move faster tell me. Seriously? Faster than what? I always enjoyed this store but going here during Covid is a nightmare. Every trip one sees employees with masks fully down or below the nose. When employees are stocking shelves their masks are not worn properly. Due to renovations, contractors are all over areas of the store and often don't comply with delaware and Giant's mask requirements. This even takes place during the hour for seniors and high-risk individuals. Finally the store has also removed the arrows in aisles that helped with social distancing. Many businesses cooperate with attempts to defeat coronavirus. This one pays lip service at best. read more

For me Giant doesn't work. My vegetarian speciality items tend to have inflated prices here (sometimes $3 more!). I also find that I wander around aimlessly trying to find what I want/need. Although I choose not to shop here, except for the occasional toiletry items (I try to buy in bulk and on sale) or a last minute produce stop, I know that Giant is a good, clean, and well-run grocery store. Pros: [] Customer loyalty card allows you to build up points that can give you a percentage off of your gas purchase at Sunoco stations. [] Nice(r) produce then some of the other supermarkets around. There are also machines there so you can weigh it yourself then a barcode prints out - cuts down on time getting checked out. [] Speaking of cutting down on the time it takes to check out. You can do U-Scan. All you do is get the U-Scan guns and scan/bag as you go. There are specially designated check-out lines and you are good to go! [] Seems to be a lot of deals to take advantage of. Cons (just want to reiterate): [] If you have a specialty diet (gluten-free, vegetarian, dairy-free) there are better (cheaper) options. read more

Shocking, why is this store open for business? Concord Pike, Wilmington DE. 4/2/2020, early AM. NO milk, NO eggs, NO cream, very little variety of bread, many isles with NO stock----very scary to see in person. INCOMPETENCE: management decided to "Re-Model" this store during COVID19 panic shopping. And it was obvious they had more contractors in grey shirts than store employees. And I did see store employees taking shelves apart---conclusion--there was no inventory to stock shelves??. MY ONLY SOLUTION: I was forced to leave and try SHOP-RITE STORE on Concord Pike. at 715am, I found fully stocked shelves, every type of milk and bread, eggs, and NO EMPTY SHELVES. Giant has a problem, logistics, storage capacity, logistics, which points to incompetence at a MANAGEMENT LEVEL. read more

One of my go to stores when I only need a couple things. I tend to shop at t**get for most of my items because it is cheaper. However, this store has a nice parking lot. Clean aisles that aren't overpacked unlike shoprite. They aren't crazy busy which I like and they have a simple reward card to get deals. I use my family phone number from 20 years ago and it still works! Overall...one of the best standard grocery stores in Wilmington. read more

Dang - the prices are rather high. And what is up with your produce market? If it isn't already sealed in plastic the produce you're looking for is either nonexistent or rotting (check out your onions please. It's gross). Thankfully, though, the employees are super helpful especially when you get lost in the rather creative maze of a layout. The reopening of the store is absolutely flawless! Sadly, I cant say the same for the staff. They seem very rude and stand-off-ish,while the managers appear unknowledgeable about simple transition postings on the receipt. A careless team member is expectable; but a careless manager? Lets just say they are willing to give you whatever you ask for (literally) just to get you out of their face without any clarity or apologies whatsoever. I was practically given $15.00 in cash extra because the manager wasn't patient enough to hear my concern. Long story short if management was more patient and the staff was more "customer-oriented" maybe, just maybe, I'll spend another dime in there. This giant is probably my favorite super market. There's many reasons to come to this store. The first and probably my favorite amenity of this store are the scanners they provide with a scan of your giant loyalty card at the door. With this you scan all your items as you shop and this way you can see how much your spending on your order and how much you save. They also have special deals for you on the scanner that you can scroll through. I have reusable bags that I bought at the giant that are insulated to keep hot foods hot and cold foods cold. I just put my groceries in them after I scan them, then at the end of my trip I go to the self checkout and scan a few things and my order pops up, I pay, then I'm out with no hassle with the exception for an occasional audit they periodically perform randomly to make sure everything in your cart has been scanned. The deli here has boars head lunch meat which is my favorite and most other supermarkets around here don't carry it. They have consistently good deals on all sorts of things with your loyalty card and most of the staff is pretty helpful. They even recently put in a couple of aisles specifically for organic food if you like that sort of thing. It's not perfect and sometimes the deli has a really long wait. They do have a kiosk that you can put your order in and they get it together while you shop. Sometimes that takes a while though. All in all it's my go to for my grocery shopping. read more
