I visited this Acme during my visit to Seaside heights, I am impressed with the store on several aspects, the store is fully stocked, well-maintained, and friendly staff. They got a huge parking lot and next door is a beverage store. The produce section was amazing with lot of fresh items. The Seafood section had a lot of varieties too. I had questions during both of my visits, and the staff was friendly to assist me. You either have to purchase a bag or bring your own bag. The prices are on the high side and you can use online coupons on the app. read more

Great selection! Situated in the heart of Seaside Heights, ACME services beachgoers along with campers. We had to stop in here to get some items for our trailer and bought exactly what we needed. We were not aware that NJ does not provide grocery bags anymore and had to carry all of our items which was a hassle but as long as they had what I needed - I'm good! Try their bakery. Extremely overpriced. Meat is terrible, it's never fresh. Avoid self checkout because machine doesn't always register the money you put in forcing u to put even more money into them. When you complain about it the manager comes out to curse & call you names. Time to close up, buddy read more

This store has many issues that make it unpleasant to shop in. First, the customer service staff are totally miserable and couldn't care less about helping or correcting problems. Second, product is often outdated (be sure to check dates on perishables). Third, they have a consistent problem of overcharging at the register. Sale items don't consistently ring up correctly. I have been charged as much as $8 above actual and going to customer service to ask for correction is miserable. Finally, they are VERY often out of sale items and prices are high anyway. It's well worth the time to drive to another market unless you enjoy checking every item on your receipt and then having a hassle to get it corrected. read more

Acme Markets just took over the A&P in Ortley Beach yesterday, and they are now open for businesss. Ironically, Acme used to be open in the very spot alongside the A&P over 30 years ago, but A&P put Acme out of business. Now Acme returns, and A&P leaves. Acme has improved the location. They added extra lighting to make the store clean and bright, while making it easier to see the products on the shelves. Lancaster Brand meats are now for sale. I personally like their chicken. Most of the products are in the same exact space where they were before. I am thrilled that Acme rehired all the A&P employees so that they are not out of a job in A&P's bankruptcy. For us customers, the prices are now reasonable and competitive with the Shoprite on the mainland, too. In the summer Acme will do a ton of business and will be a big improvement over the A&P, which had been floundering. After the hurricane, it's nice to see reinvestment in the area. I know this is the only game In town and my review won't matter at all but this place is a train wreck. Why do they have to put a bunch of products into the floor aisles so that no one can get through when pretty much every day in the summer it's like the day before Thanksgiving in there? Also when I was checking out I told the kid that I would help bag to be nice and realizing how crowded it was trying to move things along. When I paid for my groceries there were about four things left on the turnstile. I said to him can you help me out with those please?He then proceeded to push the groceries toward me and I ended up bagging the rest of my stuff while the guy in front of me was basically standing on top of me with his groceries getting intermingled with mine. Prices are high customer service terrible 80% of the employees have the worst attitudes I have ever seen in a grocery store I have no Idea how a manager can let this happen. My bf just went to ACME to take advantage of the 3/$8 12 packs of CocaCola (ANY CocaCola product) using the coupon in this weeks ad for $2 off when you buy 3 - 12 packs.... He was told he had to purchase two Cokes and one Dr Pepper in order to take advantage of the deal but they are all out of Dr. Pepper... Ummm use some common sense and give the man 3 - 12 packs of CocaCola products and lets get on with our day! They are SO lucky I wasn't there instead of him. read more

Customer service is terrible. Check out rang wrong price on green peppers so I pointed it out to the cashier, my son went to take photo of correct advertised price above the peppers. Cashier said she still needed a manager to validate and adjust. 10 min later the manager comes and states the peppers are the price that they rang up as which was different from the sign above the peppers. My son walked with the manager to show her the sign, meanwhile I paid for my order minus the peppers because the line of irate customers was growing. As I walked back into store with paid cart the manager said I can have the peppers at the signs advertised price! Like she was doing me a favor! I already paid for my order and was not going on line again so needless to say I did not purchase the peppers that I needed. **** I complained on line of this problem and sent a copy of the photo of the sign and details to Acme headquarters as listed on bottom of receipt. Check expiration dates on everything. Added picture to show I just bought sunflower seeds without checking and all were expired. They had an August 2016, January 2017, December 2017 expiration dates. So dangerous and disgusting. Luckily my guest only ate a handful and checked date because tasted weird. Returning all of the bags today. ***update: spoke with manager. He said these things happen and gave me free replacement bags...but guess what, they were also all expired. While in line getting a refund, a woman next to us was returning expired 2yr oatmeal and said only 2 on the shelf were not expired. We got refunded so no money lost but beware!! read more

This store was cleaned up quite a bit from the transition from A&P to Acme!! The self checkouts were taken out, which opens the area up. They decluttered the store, which was not a mess, but was all over the place. The store seems brighter and looks repainted. The storefront looks great with the new Acme sign, so I think it is great! read more

The wife and I headed up to the shore and went to ACME to pick up a few things for the weekend. They are still going through a re-rack and most likely getting ready for the summer traffic to pour in. The prices are not too bad and I noticed that they carry brands from Safeway. I may have to try my Safeway card next time we are up for additional discounts. Overall, not a bad experience. read more

My new go-to at the shore--so much nicer to bike to Acme than to drive to markets on the mainland. Vast improvement over A&P that previously occupied this space. Good selection, fair prices for a resort area, friendly and helpful staff (most of whom are hold-overs from when the store was part of the A&P chain, so good on Acme for that, too). Altogether pleasant place to provision the house or pick up something last minute to serve at cocktail hour. Acme's been a big part of my Jersey Shore experiences since, well, birth. Glad to say that the Ortley Acme lives up to some pretty big memories/expectations. read more

Absolutely atrocious customer service. I thought it would be different when acme took over. Waited for 20 mins at the deli counter while they all talked to each other instead of helping me. No other customers. A cashier decided to tell me she was closed after I had put all my items on the belt and made me feel like I had done something wrong as she complained to fellow cashiers.
