We tried Acevedo car rental because we were hoping for good service at a good rate. In the end, we received neither.
Service - we tried calling the office as soon as we landed in vieques, no answer. We called multiple times before they finally answered and then we were told that the lady came and left already after having never called us. Reluctantly she came back to pick us up. She pulled up in her car, didn't say a word and did not offer to help with any our bags. We didn't need help with the bags, but a hello would have been appreciated.
Car - Yeesh. Our car had a screw in the front tire that we discovered after only a few miles of driving. Instead of getting to spend our precious time in vieques on the beach, we had to find the garage she uses to patch the tire--and she didn't answer the phone or call back when we called to ask for the garage's name, so we had to go to them and ask. Aside from the tire, the jeep was well used. It had issues turning left, the radio didn't work, and it just didn't sound like a happy vehicle.
Price - we paid the same price as other car rental locations for an inferior vehicle. Additionally, we were told our car had more gas than was present. We had to ask multiple times to change our paperwork to reflect the actual fuel level. And previous clients' paperwork--with names and credit card stubs--were in the glove box still. Let's just say the rates didn't appear to be uniform.
Overall - it's not worth it. There are other car rental companies on the island. Use them instead. We had a perfectly good experience with Maritza's in the past, and Chepito's is supposed to be good, too. read more
