I was terrified when I learned we had to switch pediatricians because of a change of insurance. I…read moreabsolutely loved our last Doc and could have sworn that whoever we found to replace him would pale in comparison. Yes, this is the part where I get into the fact that I was completely WRONG and every appointment with Dr Del Mar reminds me of just HOW WRONG I was ...and of how incredibly grateful I am to have hooked up with his practice. Dr Del Mar doesn't just listen but truly soaks in and addresses concerns. I have encountered pediatricians and doctors who are adamant about talking "to" or "at" you and not speaking "with" you. Don't get me wrong, pediatricians are in a class of their own, from the many I have encountered over the last three years, the majority seem to be very warm, loving and kind. My sister is one in Southern California and she is phenomenal at what she does. I am going off on a tangent, where was I? Dr Del Mar is at the top of this class, truly cream of the crop, as good as it gets, gem mint 10. Would I recommend him? How about ... YES.

This clinic has been seeing my son for about a year. Expect a quick check up. It seems like when…read moretheir schedule is slammed, they'll rush you out. We had a recent miscommunication during our daughter's appointment. Their incompetent front desk said they had trouble pulling up our insurance even though they accepted it. I stayed at the clinic to try get a hold of insurance for them but spent almost thirty minutes on the phone with no success They said I was taking too long even though this insurance issue should've been dealt with on their end before we came to our appointment. We drive out 40 minutes just to see this doctor for personal reasons. They tried turning us away and we said we can pay cash. They said it was illegal for them to take cash because we initially told them we have insurance. Long story short, we were frustrated and left the clinic. We tried calling back to get my daughter seen. They responded by saying they were no longer taking new patients. We called a few times more and kept getting the same answer. The last time we called, the receptionist said there was an issue with our insurance. I called our insurance and they said we were black listed from their clinic and cannot call back. I just wished they told us up front and discussed about what happened instead of lying and giving us the runaround. They're not organized and they might not tell you the truth. Don't come here.

They have always been welcoming, willing to listen and available when we needed to schedule an appointment on short notice. Dr. Paul Wang is patient and thoughtful during examination and conservative with his treatments which we appreciate. I see negative comments regarding his staff, but I've never encountered any issues. His mother still works in his office. To some she might be hard to understand with a heavy Chinese accent, but she's kind, thorough and knowledgeable. The office is not fancy or high tech, but what matters the most to us is his treatment of our family. The primary sadness for us is that we are about to "age out" of pediatrics! Thank you Dr. Wang and staff!

First: I do like Dr. Wang even if you have to insist on a referral. I do like the independent…read morepractice setting as opposed to a bigger office with a lot going on. HOWEVER: As every other review states: the front office is the problem. As another reviewer stated, we also tolerated the front office but can no longer do it. My daughter is a frequent flyer, just had the well visit 2 months ago, and one vaccine was MISSED. This vaccine was due at 18 months, my daughter is now 3.5. She has frequently been sick, which is why we would have to reschedule vaccine appointments. She did receive vaccine from Dr. Wang at 17months. I called to make an appointment because she needs that vaccine for daycare. Mama Wang (as we call her) said insurance won't pay and I'd have to pay $150 out of pocket. What?????? I told her this vaccine was missed and very overdue. She was VERY offended by that and said it's the fault of the previous doctor we had. She consulted her paper charts, and rattled off dates. The fact remains, my daughter received vaccines from Dr. Wang at 17 months and this vaccine was due at 18 months, while under his care. She continued to argue against that. She then said Dr. Wang would call me, but "he is on his lunch now." No other practice does this for vaccines. If a vaccine is due, you just make an appointment and they do it. So, I waited to hear from Dr. Wang, and never got a call. The next day, I called insurance and was told it depends on my benefits, which is a $10 copay, and I quote "UNLESS THEY AREN'T BILLING AND ARE DOING SOMETHING THEY ARE NOT SUPPOSED TO DO." I called the office after, and Mama Wang answered again. She again was very argumentative even when I told her what insurance said. She told me Dr. Wang is sick "like she told me" (which she didn't, she said he was on his lunch) and that's why he can't call. During this call, she told me 3 times "if you're not happy, you can change doctor." Well, I don't need to be told a 4th time. All because I questioned why I would have to pay $150 for one vaccine that was missed because they do not do electronic records. They have paper charts only. Good luck with that. Dr. Wang, sorry but your staff is too much. I know one is your mom, but if I can't reach you directly or speak to someone who understands what I (and insurance) are saying, then it's not worth the stress. Change the staff, get EHR, and I feel a lot of problems would be resolved.
