When I asked them to file the proper claim as per Fed Ex, they said no. They refuse to help me, and now I am out a computer and the money. WHY IN THE WORLD would they send something out without insurance? Their response, 'We don't have to', but I HAD TO AS PER THEIR REQUEST when I sent it to them. Horrible service and computer. My son's laptop has been restarting since day we got it while in use. This happens while doing college exams. Went back and forth with support did all the stuff still doing it. Sent to get serviced during sons winter break and it is doing it again. Apparently service needs to be done 2 more times before they will replace the faulty laptop. Extremely Disappointed - Poor Customer Service and Faulty Hardware I rarely leave reviews, but this experience demands attention. I purchased a laptop with the expectation that it would perform as advertised. Unfortunately, within a short period of use, the hardware began to fail. Frequent crashes a few months after I received it until the point that the hard drive crashed around 1 year from the purchase date. What made this situation worse was the abysmal customer service. When I reached out to Acer, they told me it was under warranty still and asked me to ship it to them. After they received the computer, they told me I missed the warranty period. They told me it would cost me $900 to repair the laptop. I paid close to $1,000 for this laptop. I've wasted hours of productivity chasing down answers and solutions for a product that should have worked out of the box. This is not what I expect from a company that markets itself as a leader in technology. I lost everything that I had on this computer. The combination of substandard hardware and dismissive support is unacceptable. I sincerely hope others take this as a warning: buyer beware. If I could leave less than a 1-star review I would. I bought a Swift 5 in September. In early December it crashed. The case was in new condition. Their technical support (overseas) advised me to send it to their repair center in Temple, Texas. Yesterday I received it with a scratched lid, and the body is warped so badly that it won't sit flat, and bounces when attempting to type. Product: Acer Predator I bought a gaming laptop less than a year ago and it suddenly shutdowns randomly. It has been doing it progressively more often and hindered my performance to do work and class. I spoke to the first tech representative and gave me a quick turn around of a week with the shipping and repair. I received my laptop only to find it still not working properly and shutting down how it was before. I spoke to two representative and they mentioned my curiosity help was given and it will take 7-10 business days for the repair to occur. This timing does not include the two 3-8 business day for shipping. All of this is happening when finals week is around the corner. Great. I would've been reasonable if they could've decreased the duration but it was against policy to help a customer when their first repair did not come back properly or issue got resolved. had a monitor with a screen defect, sent in with original box, they threw it away and shipped back with shitty packing, took 3 weeks round trip... defect fixed but now the monitor flickers when it didnt used to... now i get to send it back but with less ideal shipping materials... and now i probably get to wait another 3 weeks to get back. they made no attempt to speed up the shipping time to remedy the situation. it's costing me and them money for no good reason. I bet it'd be working if they send it back with the original box...and now there's an even bigger risk of damage cause it gets to make the 4000 mile round trip again! I called them and they told me that my warranty ran out yesterday. How convenient, so now I have to pay them to fix my laptop or pay a computer technician to fix it. DO NOT SEND THEM YOUR LAPTOP. I sent mine in for a hinge that needed replacing. They replaced my camera, reinstalled OS and purged my hard drive. I asked if this would be a problem and they said it shouldn't be a problem. Yeah the hinge was replaced but everything that was lost was way more valuable. Their customer service is just clueless and their system often doesn't even show the correct warranty start-end date. I had some issues with my laptop at the 8-month mark of our time together. I was sure that I was done for and then my dearest love reminded me that its inability to boot was probably covered under the 1-year warranty. I posted a case thing on the online log and waited for some sort of response. I never got one. A couple months later, I entered my information into the "check your status" thing and it said that it was okay'ed for sending in. That was it. No info about how or where. I took advantage of a "chat with a person now" thingy and got all the info that I needed from a super friendly person. Sent my stuff in, got a status email, and my perfectly fixed laptop back about a week later. Except for never getting an initial response about my case, everything went swimmingly. Super great service and super nice people. They've renewed my faith that warranties are really and truly honored. read more

I purchased a Acer Nitro in November 2017 on sale from Costco. Through normal wear and tear, without a single drop, the monitor frame at the left hinge began to split open in October 2018. It wasn't too bad, so I just managed it until it steadily got worse and worse with time. I applied some super glue to make it more manageable, but it didn't hold. I figured, hey, this is probably minor, one-off manufacturing defect that Acer will surely fix for me. Upon calling Acer, I was told because I hadn't called within the 1 year timeframe, they would not cover and instead attempt to charge $440 to repair. The laptop cost $600. They, in effect, said, "Sorry we sold you a shitty product, but it's your problem now." I will never, ever purchase another Acer product again and will certainly not get it repaired with them. I'll just suffer through using this broken POS until I can afford a new laptop and let as many people know as possible to avoid Acer. read more

I bought Acer's chrome book 11 n7 for my son around the beginning of Covid-19's quarantine. After 6 months of us using it, one day it suddenly wouldn't turn on. I called Acer's customer service many times and they had said that I would receive an email so that I could fill it out and get it repaired or get a new computer. I never received an email. I called again and they said that they can repair the computer as long as I ship it to them. Then I find out that the repair fee was $155!!! On July 8, 2015 I placed an order online for an Acer Aspire E 1-572-6459 Notebook, with Windows 7 operating system. July 11th, 2015 The order had been canceled. July 13th, 2015 I called Acer, and was told I would have to reorder the laptop, somethings were not complete on the original order. I reordered the laptop, giving the missing information. July 16, 2015 There was no e-mail with a tracking number or estimated arrival date of laptop. I called Acer and was told that the order placed on July 8th, 2015 had not been completely canceled, at which time the order on July 8th, 2015 AND the order on July 13th, 2015 canceled each other. July 16th, 2015 Supervisor James listened to my complaints, and then ordered my laptop for a third time. The laptop was on sale for $349.99, no shipping, 2 day shipping $25 for a total of $406.99 Thursday 7-16-2015 9:04AM Pacific Laptop should arrive on Tuesday 7-21-15 July 20th, 2015 My bank still had Acer listed as pending. I call Acer up and was told, that AGAIN my order had been canceled. This time because my order didn't pass internal checking. The troubleshooting that I did indicated that the computer was 'unable to detect a hard drive'. I mailed the computer to the repair center and just received a call that the repair is NOT covered under warranty as the problem is the result of water damage. I have NEVER gotten this computer wet! They wanted to charge me $180 to repair the unit, but I told them to just mail it back because I believe this to be an utter and complete SCAM! They emailed me a picture of the inside of a computer with very bad water damage, which I am SURE is not my computer. I will open the back of this laptop up when I get it back to prove they are scamming people, and will then file a complaint with whoever regulates that type of business. Worst company I have ever dealt with. Ordered a computer and 20 minutes later received an order cancellation email with no explanation. Computer remained available online late into the night. Called in the morning to speak with customer service and was informed the computer had sold out and was no longer available. Was then offered a lesser quality computer for roughly $200 more than the one previously purchased. Complete bait and switch scam. Supervisor I spoke with did nothing and told me she was the highest person in the company to speak with. I even frustratedly joked "oh, so you're queen of Acer?" To which she replied "yes". When I persisted I speak with someone above her I was put into a never ending hold pattern and tossed aside like garbage. My laptop had a malfunctioning headphone jack port. I had tried everything related to drivers etc and it was clearly a mechanical issue. I still have a warranty on my Acer. I contacted Acer technical support and they paid for the shipping but not the insurance. However, I shipped it in the original packaging and through FedEx as specified. I did have to pay for the box but FedEx let me put my laptop which was in its original box inside of a bigger box with bubble wrap. I wanted to make sure it wasn't damaged. I also asked FedEx to put a "Fragile" sticker on the box. I followed all the instructions they sent me for sending it in. It arrived to them in about a week, then they had it at their location for about 7-8 days. Then they sent it back to me fixed and good as new with a replaced audio jack within a couple days after being repaired.. Overall, I am very satisfied with Acer for their support. After spending 5 hours loading up the laptop, I was told by support that I have to reset the laptop to factory specs because of a registry error that Acer shipped this laptop with. Apparently ALL Acer laptops in this model were shipped with a registry error in the system. I wasted a ton of time installing software just to have to redo everything again. So I had a laptop with a broken hinge that needed to get fixed. No big issue, right? I sent it off to the Texas facility mid-July. At that point it is radio silence from Acer until this morning when I suddenly get a brown box sitting in front of my door. It's my laptop! However, it had some stickers on the back panel of the LCD and now they have all been removed, presumably due to the repair. I'm pissed and furious when I see this, of course, as some of these stickers were handmade by artists! Had I known they were going to be removed, I would have declined a repair. No one at Acer had thought that maybe this would be an issue and no one from Acer ever thought to provide me with updates. In addition to all of this, there's a nasty little scuff mark on the upper left corner of my laptop's keyboard now which wasn't there before, so I'm worried of any further damage! So far things seem to be in shape internally, despite this. Overall, I'm terribly disappointed at this catch-22 repair. read more

Don't buy an Acer-we got one that died within a month, just stopped booting. Got it at CompUSA with an extra store warranty, but the store refused to take it back--said we have to deal with fixmyacer.com. Acer says we need to ship it to Texas at our expense for them to look at it--other laptop makers at least cover shipping in my experience. So then it may take 2 weeks to get this thing fixed. Worst experience I've ever had with a computer company, I suggest sticking with Dell, Staples, Amazon, and/or Apple who have all been quite good. I've decided that buying an Acer is sort of like buying a lottery ticket--you might win a good one, but most likely you'll lose much more than you save. Update- We had to mail the laptop back to Acer to get it fixed. It took 1.5 months for Acer to send it back to us, and when it came back it's corner was crushed. Called Acer again, this time they blamed FedEx, but the box was fine, the computer inside the box was crushed, but the box was not harmed at all. So now we have 2 days to send it back, and they say they will put a new case on it (rather than just send a new one or a refund). read more

My tale begins a few weeks ago. A key popped off the keyboard on my Acer V3-771G. The computer was still covered on 1-year warranty, so I filled out the online issue form and filed a report. The next day I received shipping info and a case number to put on the box to ship it to Texas. The shipping cost me $16 to send it, but it was worth it. I wanted my baby to function and look nice once more and it was still covered under warranty. About a half week later, I received an email saying that it was fixed! I acquired tracking information, I thought "Great!" A few days later I obtained my PC back, and I unpacked it. I looked at the repair order. It said, Replaced, Mainboard, Keyboard Support plate, and upper case, updated Bios/DMI and system passed all tests. I was thinking, "Why did they change all of these components?" I just had a key missing. Why was the motherboard replaced? Nonetheless, all was good, I got her back and not a scratch was on her. I plugged her in; pushed the power button; and nothing happened. It was DEAD! What happened? I was puzzled and more than that, I was angry. I called Acer again and got a nice guy from India who was very eager to help, but I had a hard time understanding him. I got transferred to Texas and talked with another nice guy who I could understand. He emailed me a free shipping label. Great, I didn't have to spend $16 bucks again. I packed it in the same box I got it in and sent it back for a second time. It has been a week and three days. I check the web site daily and get the same response. (Case Status - Under Repair) My Goodness, I could have built three computers from scratch, in the time it's been there. I wonder what has been replaced this time, and I still don't know what is really going on. read more

Would you like to buy Acer computer? Before you do it - think about service! Think twice or even three times! Terrible experience! Acer has a service facility in Temple, TX. Which is not too bad! But they have a calling center in Dominican Republic which, per a supervisor's words, "don't have neither a phone number of the service people in Texas nor any other types of communications but only e-mailing your questions to service personnel". And, of course, the calling center don't have any specific knowledge of service procedures other than a very basic information. In my case, a top of one of the keys on the keyboard broke(!). Not a huge problem compared to motherboard, hard drive etc. And I still have a warranty. The initial person from the calling center was very polite and helpful. He took my info and issued a service ticket. I had asked him if I can only have a keyboard repair/replacement and he told me that it's not a problem but recommended to do a back up of my laptop. Just in case. Guess what? I've got my computer back with all data swiped out and not in the original box (service receipt says that I didn't sent it in the original box, which I did!) and my back up restore didn't go well. Acer has kept my laptop for 9 working days and I couldn't get to service people during that time to check either about the status of the repair (because the status information on the service site mentioned "received" for first 6 days) or talk to real technician about the repair. I called them a few times but never could get through to the calling center. They stand like a big wall - not a chance to talk to service center at all! And, again, it was just only one key on the keyboard! I spent money to send this computer to warranty repair (nobody offered me a reimbursement!) , used the old orthodox temporary computer for 2 weeks and received my laptop back with swiped data and information in a service receipt stated that it had "replaced upper case with keyboard, softloaded unit, updated bios, diagnostics pass". Why did I spend time asking the first Acer's employee to replace only a keyboard and have all these hassles after all, if I could use a different and very simple option: FORGET ABOUT ACER'S WARRANTY AND USE A GLUE TO KEEP MY KEY IN PLACE! I believe, correct and transparent information about the merchandise under repairs is a critical issue for any Customer Service department. No matter if it's a computer or a car or any other product. Looks like people in Acer still don't understand the whole value of it. So, think twice about service at Acer before you want to spend plenty of money for a new computer or laptop from them. read more

I bought an " Acer - Nitro 5 15.6" Gaming Laptop - AMD Ryzen 5 - 8GB Memory - AMD Radeon RX 560X - 1TB Hard Drive - Black" from Best Buy on July of 2019 and I noticed that for a gaming laptop it was unusually slow at times and would sometimes even freeze for minutes, so I took it to Microsoft for a diagnostic and they found that there were hard drive issues and recommended that since I still had the warranty for Acer, to set up a repair with them. Man was that a MISTAKE, I talked to the costumer service representative and sent my laptop in for repair only to have it back a week in a half later without as much as an explanation of what they did to it. So I had to call and was told that they did a diagnostic and that there were no problems with the laptop and that it just needed a factory reset. This sounded fishy to me so I took back to Microsoft and was told that the factory reset would not solve anything to do with the hard drive. So I called back and told them the continuing problem only to be told by the costumer service representative "you want to send it back because you feel like it?" Obviously not. This has already wasted enough of my time. And AGAIN it was the same thing. Nothing according to me. But I said you know what. Let's see if this does fix the problem. NOPE. and when I called for a THIRD time they claimed they had no record of me sending in that laptop two other times. Yeah okay buddy. I said forget it let me see what Best Buy does. Turn out Best Buy has their own Geek Squad factory to repair things and IMMEDIATELY upon arriving at the repair factory they saw the hard drive needed to be replaced and are in the process of doing so. Acer says they "pride" themselves in "fixing" our products as fast as possible. Yeah that's because they go for the quick fix instead of what our products actually need just to save a little money. So I bought my Acer laptop about 6 months ago and the touch pad and keyboard suddenly stopped working about a week ago. I was so upset because I'm right in the middle of the semester in college and I need my laptop in order to submit homework. I knew I had a 1 year factory warranty so I packaged it all up and shipped it to Texas for repair half expecting to never see it again. Within a couple days, Acer emailed me to inform me that they had received my laptop and would let me know the status of the repair ASAP. A couple more days went by and they sent me another email letting me know that it had been repaired and they were prepping it for shipping! I couldn't believe it! And today, I got my laptop back in the mail and I'm typing this review on it. I'm just amazed that their customer support is so fast! Thanks to Acer, I now have a perfectly functioning laptop and I can get my homework done! I will definitely buy an Acer again because I know if something goes wrong, they can fix it very quickly.
