David from Ace came out to my house to give me an estimate to prune five trees on my property. The problem was that the estimate wasn't clear on what trees were to be pruned so I asked them at least 3 times to modify the estimate and they said they would but never revised the estimate. I've used them before and was happy with their work previously but I wasn't happy how they treated me as a return customer so I hired another company to do the work. read more

Okay. Where do I begin....I contacted this company as I needed a tree removed, specifically limbs that were extending over the roof and some power lines. I had previously contacted Alabama Power and they advised they would not be responsible for removal as the lines were connected to the home (sigh). Initial contact with the company was great. I think I contacted them on a Friday and was told I would hear from someone the next week as I was assured they could provide the service. I did not. I felt like I was becoming a stalker as I was constantly calling. Time passed. I pumped the brakes on the tree removal project for some months. I reached out to the company again and was finally able to arrange a day for someone to assess and give an estimate. The person was to contact me when they went out as I was not at the property. Well, that didn't happen. What I got was a call requesting payment as they had gone out and removed the tree. The wrong tree. read more

I was a longtime and happy Ace customer. I agreed to pay $700 for having a limb cut down, cut up and all of the wood debris hauled away. That was our agreement. They cut the limb down. In the process, they busted my retaining wall and flower box/garden. It was discovered that a wasp nest had been disturbed and we were instructed to get them taken care of, then they would be back to finish the job and repair the retaining wall. We had the wasps taken care of the next day and called Ace Tree Service to let them know that we were ready for them to come back. We had numerous conversations and exchanged emails. There were many instances when we were told that someone was coming but nobody ever showed up. The large limb was left in the yard. I cut it up and hauled it away myself. I repaired the wall myself. I gave them multiple opportunities to come out and finish the job, but after several attempts and promises of "we'll get someone other this week" I gave up and did myself. This was done back in July. I didn't hear anything from Ace Tree for 3 months, but then suddenly they started hounding me for a "past due" invoice for a job they never completed. read more

Ace Tree Service has made two appointments with me to look at a job but they have been a no show for both appointments. I finally got a call back asking me to send pictures of the trees and they would give me a quote from the pictures. I don't think I want to do that. read more

Best price we found for the work we needed cutting down a tree.... but as they say, you get what you pay for. The work they was ok but they ended up denting a spot on my gutters with a fallen branch. And at first they said they'd take the tree parts away upon completion of the cutting the tree down, then it turned to "we're going to come back in a couple days". Then that turned to almost a month of the trees sitting on my front lawn. It was frustrating to say the least. read more

Came out to trim Crepe Myrtles for my neighbor did an OK job I guess. We live on the Cahaba River and have many tributaries and run off ditches. She was told they would haul away the trimmings and refuse. Instead they piled it up in the run off ditches with no regard of the ecological disruprtion and clogging up of the ditch. She called them with no result. I would not hire these people if they can't do what they say. read more

They took down two very large trees while avoiding hazards on all sides. Did a wonderful job with minimum damage to my lawn. They worked quickly and safely and were very professional and friendly. Used to be great when they were smaller. Absolutely no communication between office and crews. Spilled oil on bluestone and driveway. Rotted yard with stump grinder. Fired them when they came out for third time to grind stump and once again had wrong equipment. Josh is a smooth talker but can not back it up with quality service. read more

Yelp is the only site truly showing the bad review this company deserves. They cut down our trees in January, it's June. I am still dealing with things they ruined and broke. Including my entire front yard, ripped out my water meter system and cracked copper piping. They cut the trees down and left them in my yard and on road (blocking traffic) for DAYS. Do not use them. They not only left such a headache, but they also do not care at all about helping you fix what they broke. The value is not worth the absolute mess they will leave at your home. read more

I hired Ace to cut down and remove 2 trees in April 2024. After getting 2 other estimates, I decided to go with them to do the work that I needed done asap. The crew arrived on time and they did a very professional job cutting and 2 days later removing debris. They did an excellent job cleaning up after they finished. read more

The foreman and employees were very good at their jobs...but Ace office staff and manager not so much... 2 jobs were to be done... they did one that day and said the other job would be done in a day or two... They never came back but demanded payment which they combined the total due of the two jobs, as priced to me, saying they only knew of one job and I owned them more than agreed... I have never experienced such poor communication from a business. I accepted a proposal for tree trimming plus a tree and stump removal in January 2024. Once I accepted the proposal, repeated attempts to contact the company to find out when the service was scheduled were ignored. Suddenly, I received a call in February stating they could do the work THAT day. The work was completed and all debris left on the curb in my yard and covering part of my neighbors driveway was left. Again, no communication. Debris was removed a week later. Again, all communication ceased until I suddenly received an invoice requesting payment. However, the work was not complete and the large tree stump remained. After repeated phone calls were ignored, I finally received an answer to my several emails that the stump removal is invoices separately and my invoice was overdue! Note that I did not receive an invoice until March 4 and I immediately began contacting them. When I finally received a rude response via email that the invoice was overdue, it was March 6. Despite the lack of stump removal, I paid the invoice for the work that was completed and began calling, emailing, and texting about receiving my stump removal work as promised by the company. I can see that my texts have been read. Yet, no courtesy of a response. Save yourself the headache and schedule your tree needs with a company that will actually communicate with you. read more

Very impressed with my overall experience with Ace Tree Service. Props for: - Quick, reasonable quote - Job well done (services delivered as promised) - Great clean up after work was performed - Quickly addressed minor concerns I had after the job was done. For example, they had to take down part of our fence to get the equipment in. When they put it back up, our gate didn't hang correctly. As soon as I emailed them and let them know, they promptly had someone out who gave us a high quality, permanent fix to the problem. They also cleaned out our gutters after I noticed the debris was causing some interruption in flow. - Very responsive and friendly over email Areas for improvement: - Updates on timing. I understand that this business is busy, so I won't hold how long it took for the service to be performed against them (quote given in June, work wasn't completed until August) but I did not like that I was repeatedly having to call for updates on timing. I think it would be great if they routinely sent people weekly updates on estimated wait time for work to be performed. - Sometimes customer service was a little short and rushed on the phone I would definitely recommend them and would use them again. read more

This rating is for the Birmingham location and the sales person was Alex Gamble If I could give it zero stars I would. The sales process was good and easy, everything else about this company is bad. No communications after the agreement was signed except one call asking if they could do my job 6 days earlier than planned and they said they could be our home between 8:30AM - 9:00AM, we said yes. At 9:30 AM we still hadn't seen anyone from Ace Tree Service so we called to see if they were still coming, we were told that they had one small job before ours and that they would have to check with the crew. The person on the phone said they would call us back when they talked to the crew. Over an hour later we had still not heard from anybody so my wife call back and was told that they still hadn't heard from the crew, this was around 10:40 AM a full 1 hour and 10 min late for the job. Fast forward to 1:15 PM, still haven't seen or heard from anyone from Ace Tree Service. So I call the office AGAIN (#3) and asked what's going on, and the person on the phone told me they were on their way to my house and would be there "in a few min". Fast forward another 1 Hour and 5 min to 2:20PM, after still not hearing from anyone at Ace Tree Service I called them again(#4)and said over one hour ago I was told they would be here in a few min, the person on the phone said "Oh, yeah I was about to call you and tell you we would have to push your job out to tomorrow to which I replied, just cancel the job, I'm not doing business with you and the person on the phone said "Okay" and nothing more. No apologies, no offers to keep the business, nothing. Not only did they waste a whole day of my time, I now have to go find another person to do the work. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY. There are no communications unless you call them first and then you can't trust what they tell you. If they had just been honest with me from the start it wouldn't have been a problem. I know for a fact that I was told AT LEAST on lie which was that they were on their way and would be there in a few min. Whether that lie came from the office person or if it was lie the crew told the office person, I was lied to. I can't do business with a company that is going to lie to me they lost all of my trust so I'll be moving on. read more

The tree cutting was unbelievable and very professional!!!!! Unfortunately, the stump grinding left a lot to be desired....Had to hire Cahaba Stump Grinders to remove the stump which remained above ground level. This resulted in a $1,400 cost.....Just wish the owner had taken the time to review my complaint in person. read more

Ace tree service are true professionals from the office staff to the arborists. After an ice storm, Ace came to remove an eighty eight year old pine tree with falling branches that were in danger to my roof and sky-light. They were punctual, courteous, and stayed for almost 6 hours to make sure the job was done well. The next day they came and cleaned my yard and picked up all of the limbs. Let me start by saying that this review does not reflect the work they do once they actually get on site. But my customer service experience was not very good. I initially had a tree service come out and give me an estimate on a dead tree in my back yard. And after a little sticker shock, I decided to shop around for a better deal. Ace was the only other company that called me back for a relatively fast estimate and said it would be a week until they could come out. Once they did, I did get a little better pricing and was told that my fence needed to be wider in order to get that price. The guy who came out said they were already 3 weeks out from the next job. So I told him to go ahead and put me on the books and I would get the fence widened. I was told I would hear something soon. Fast forward a couple of weeks and I still hadn't heard anything. So I decided to call and check on it only to find out nothing was put on the books. A little frustrating, but it could definitely be fixed with a little care and consideration. Apparently the new scheduling window was much further than 3 weeks. But the lady on the phone said she would try to work something out to get something sooner and call me back. I waited a day or two and decided not to risk it and called back. She said with all the storms, they were swamped with reschedules and she would have to let me know the next week. Note that I said we have had a ton of storms, and I have a dead tree in the backyard. So I was hoping they would at least be able to get something in the next couple of weeks. But when an email came through, the date on it was 2.5 months away!! I decided that Ace was not the company for me and went with the company who came out for the first estimate. Even though I paid a little more, I was very satisfied and won't recommend anyone else. read more

Somewhat disappointed with service. I selected them based on prior service a couple of years ago when they were very good. Unfortunately this time the service was subpar, expensive and very delayed. I had four dead trees removed ,the debris was not removed the same day, the tree stumps were not grinded . ACE has asked Alabama Power to disconnect the electricity prior to the tree removal but placing the reconnect order was neglected until hours after the job was finished. We had a huge pine tree close to the house that the pine beetles got to. They came out same day for an estimate and were able to schedule the service within a week. The crew could not have been more professional. Well coordinated, no one was ever just standing around clocking time. They left the yard cleaner than they found it. I imagine a lot could go wrong cutting down a 50 foot tree, but nothing did! read more
