This place raised some serious red flags for me. I was the third person in line whose car didn't pass, and the two cars ahead of me were also told they failed their smog tests. Seeing three vehicles in a row fail makes you start questioning what's really going on. I understand CARB regulations can be strict, but the process here feels questionable. You still have to pay the full test fee, then come back and pay again (or pay a reduced retest fee) after supposedly fixing the issue. When multiple customers are being told they failed back-to-back, it starts to feel less like coincidence and more like a pattern. I'm not saying every failure is wrong, but based on my experience and what I saw with the other customers ahead of me, I'd strongly recommend getting a second opinion before spending your money here. read more

I needed to smog my 1999 Miata. Because of the year, it needs to go on a dyno. A lot of shops have machines that are down and finicky. They were able to smog my car and it took about 20 mins. Son bought his first used car so we had to get it tested before registering it. First time it wasn't "ready' so we had to put some more miles into it. Came back and he double checked to make sure that the car was in a ready state to do the smog testing. I've used Ace Smog before and have been hit several times with an extra $10 fee just because the vehicle being sniffed was a truck. They literally do nothing different with a truck. In fact one of them I had previously brought in was a Nissan and had the exact same engine some of the Nissan sedans did. But still they up-charge for a truck. I previously paid it just because it was close to my house and convenient, but no more. Norco Smog is a stones throw away and doesn't stick you for extra charges. read more

Checked their website before I went their and their prices were comparable to others. I have been there previously. It appeared that the ownership has changed. Didn't recognize anyone from previous visit. She quoted me a price that was almost double what is advertised (the pictures on this site are not accurate). When I pointed out that the yellow pages website advertised something different she said that wasn't them. When I showed her thE website proving it was, she relented and charged me the advertised price. I hope more people check the yellow pages or yelp because this business is doing their best to cheat people of their hard earned money with false advertisement. read more

My truck was smoged at this BAR state approved facility on 1/31/2020 at approximately 10:00 am. and was severely damaged. I have called numourious times to contact the manager with no response. I have also contacted my ins. company. There is a ins. claim against them. Called again today. 2/7/2020 at 11:06 am. Still no manager available. Ok I have been having my cars smog here for over a year and never had a problem with them passing or the customer service. Now the place isn't much to look at and the waiting room looks like a run down flop house but the service is friendly and professional. During my last visit after reading the last post I read the banners they have posted everywhere. These banners are old and have been up for as long as I can remember. They all say if you use the special or a coupon there is NO FREE re inspection. It is clear as day! If you want a good cheap smog test this is the place to go. Never a wait and never an issue. I have never had a problem here until I sent my daughter in to get a smog. First a 16 year old had to show them how to open the hood on a 1998 Jeep. Then she was told it had no CARB EO number found on after market Catalytic Converter so it did not pass. She was told to take it down the street for repairs and when she left there the check engine light came on. This is strange when this Jeep has passed smog for 22 year without a problem. We took it to a shop we have been to many times and it pass smog on the first try and there is no after market Catalyic Converter on this car and the EO numbers were on the converter. The young gentleman doing the test is extremely rude, I didn't mind that they are pricier than anywhere else in IE but customers service is zero. This place uses deceptive advertising! Read the small print on the coupon advertisement. The man in charge told me that the cost would be $62. I came in on a $29.75 advertisement. $10 upcharge for a truck; $8.25 cert. fee and the kicker $14.00 STAR CERTFIED FEE! While I was waiting I looked up if a business could charge xtra because DMV requires you to go to a Star Certified. The answer is DMV does not mandate what to charge, an owner can charge his own fees. The problem was how the owner handled it, he presented to me that the $14 up charge was DMV sanctioned because he was STAR CERTIFIED. Not the case! A good business person would just tell you his price and provide a service that compliments his service. I walked out and took my business down the street! These people clearly don't know what they are doing. Went there to get my ford cargo van smog and right after 10 minutes they say it wont pass because the catalytic converter was tampered since it did not have a sticker that could be visible. I have never heard anyone mention about a sticker being important otherwise I would try to clean or at least make it some what visible. Obviously I had to pay. Took it to the next smog station would say 500-1000 feet of that shop and it passed within 5 minutes no problem. I asked them if there was such thing as a sticker being visible owner just shrugged as like if I was asking something that was never heard before. I would give no stars for the Ace Shop. The minion behind the counter just said it's a weight fee the owner collects. Collects for what? Are you putting my truck on a rack that costs more for heavy vehicles? No? I used a coupon that was supposed to bring the price of a smog check down to 31.95+smog cert.(out the door for 40 from the usual $52 with free retest) but my car didn't pass on first try since we just changed the battery in it (the computer didn't sync back up yet). So a logical person would assume that I would just be forced to pay the usual price of $52 once I got the retest after driving around to re-sync the computer, however they penalized me for using a coupon and not passing and I was forced to pay $68.75 Why should I be penalized for using a coupon?? I should have read the Yelp reviews before I go to this Ace Smog Center. Indeed, it uses deceptive advertising with fine prints. Read clearly on their coupon "STAR Extra". They just charge you with the full price deduct $10 for bring in the coupon, but it's still a lot higher than other stations for the same STAR Certified Smog Test. Went here in 2012 and paid about $30 and was very happy. This month I went in with coupon $28.75 + 8.25 certificate = $37.00. Was told it would be an additional $11 since my DMV renewal notice says inspection must be done at a Star station! I got out of there fast! Went to Foothill Quicky Smog in Upland. I went there because I had a coupon for an $28.75 smog check. Now, it is $10.00 more for the SUV I have so I understood that. They added another $8.25 certificate fee and then added another $10.00 "Star Smog" fee. In all I ended up paying $58.00. The only reason I went there is because my car failed the first test (I had a bad sensor). My usual place (In Glendora) only charges about $30.00 with no added fees. Ace Smog is closer to my house and I had to get it done in order to avoid late fees for my tags. Don't go here... You'll end up paying a crap ton of money. BEWARE, this place will take your money even you don't pass the smog test. I brought my car for a smog test with an engine lights on and they proceeded to performed the smog test knowing I will fail the testing. These people don't have the decency to do the right thing to advice me that I am going to fail. In addition to the original fee which they already collected, I still have to pay another fee for retesting and certificate.
