Dip was very kind and helpful and made me feel good about trying here for first time. Good cars/

PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM THEM!!! GOOGLE THEM FIRST !!!! They wiLl charge you an additional 200 in optional insurance without disclosure or consent. If you show your car insurance, they will tell you it is not valid to force you to buy theirs (This is the #1 complaint in the internet about them) Also you will have to wait a month to get your deposit back and theN call them to refund it . They are NOT acreditated with the Best Business Bureau and you cant even leave them reviews in Google. I CANT BELIEVE THEY ALLOW PLACES LIKE THIS TO STAY IN BUSINESS. read more

Not impressed at all! We travel a lot and though the discounted price lured us in, the savings was not worth a headache! Let me start off by saying how disgusting it is that you do not have soap in your bathroom. The first day I got there I informed the agent there was no soap and he told someone to fill it, I got impression it wasn't a surprise. 6 days later when I went back to return the car, the soap dispenser was still bone dry. I just don't understand how people can use the bathroom and not wash their hands, especially in a business setting. Also be aware that they take 20+ days to refund your deposit! It's been two weeks and we have not received any refund, no longer" Pending", It's an actual charge. If you read their policy, it states 20 days, why in the world would it take 20 days to refund your deposit? We missed that in the fine line so just letting you know. I got sick on the original day. I was supposed to return the car. I made numerous attempts to talk to a knowledgeable customer service rep to extend my trip by one day. I could not get anyone to extend it over the phone and was told I'd have to drive 30 minutes each way and fill out paperwork again to extend the vehicle. I was basically told if I did not do this that I could be arrested if the police pulled me over. I tried to explain that I could not even drive, but they did not seem to care. Finally, my husband found a phone number for corporate, and the gentleman was really nice and was able to extend My contract with no issues. Too bad I wasted hours on the phone trying to resolve it with no success. It seems like an easy request and a simple fix, but they make it so hard.. When I went to return the car, the agent Was very pushy about leaving a five star review. I told him that my experience was less than satisfactory and he came back telling me that a manager would try to compensate me on my next rental. I told him that I would appreciate the compensation on this rental, since it was such a bad experience and he was said he would talk to him and they would work on it. Never heard anything from him again, never received any sort Of compensation.... but, he was sure to remind me to leave a five star review-AGAIN. Overall, we will absolutely not recommend this company to anyone! It is impossible to reach anyone at the actual office if you need help. Customer service agents seem to just read off a script and Could not give me any personalized service. The fact that they hold onto your deposit for so long, yet Immediately charge the toll fees is ridiculous! read more

I wish I had read the reviews. This company lost my payment from booking the day before and the original agreed upon price of $205 has become $844 and counting. Do not go here! Their insurance is unavoidable, the guy who took the car upon returning said he would have $50 refunded for the hassle, but instead they have charged me a late fee even though we were finished with the return process and on their shuttle back at the airport by the time our 12 noon return time came around. Bottom line, stay away! The car was at least ok. read more

I will be using Ace rent a car again, pick up and return was quick. Teo was pleasant and helpful when returning my rental.

Posting after attempting to resolve this privately. I was charged undisclosed fees at the counter and was asked to sign on a blank or incomplete screen before seeing the actual terms. The final bill included unexpected add-on charges that I did not knowingly authorize, and I was unable to get a clear explanation. I'm now in an active billing dispute with my credit-card company and hope the company will resolve this fairly. read more

First, the car selection was just a bunch of beat up, dented, scratched vehicles. One of them had the front bumper literally hanging off the car.. the car we ended up renting clearly looked as if the car was previously in an accident and the driver side door had a cheap paint job to cover it up. The car smelled of cigarette smoke when turning on the ac. The car was not worth the price charged for rental. Second, the agreement stated nothing about additional insurance requirements. Had I known it was required I would've saved money and purchased this in advance rather than be charged double or triple at the time of pickup. The fee is $40 per day. If only renting for one or two days and for minimal use I usually do not add this to my rental. This rental was for two days and only used for half the time. Third, the $200 deposit made for this rental is supposed to be returned immediately. Not charged and used at their discretion like a personal bank! Holding my money for 20 business days is bad business practice. Any additional charges in case of a ticket or fee is to be charged to my credit card used at the time of renting the car. That transaction is supposed to be pending and remain pending until the vehicle is returned. Refunded immediately. No other rental company operates in this manner. Lastly, upon returning the vehicle there is no method of properly receiving the vehicle or checking in to make sure it was returned on time. The workers did not even speak to me when dropping the vehicle off. I had to go inside and make sure they were aware it was returned. And not getting physical copy of receipt when picking up and dropping off is also very unsettling. In case of not having phone battery I'm unable to access my contract agreement?! I will never be using their services again. Very bad business practices. Cheap and damaged vehicles that looked as if they were polished with a brillo pad. Barely any selection of vehicles in a shared parking garage with other random car owners. The worker behind the counter seemed confused and unsure of what cars were available. And overall terrible contractual disclosure. Only one of your workers seemed helpful and I hope they find some place better to work tbh because this place is just bad vibes all day. Extremely disappointed in the amount of sneaky garbage they expect people to deal with. Most of the rentals are non refundable as well. DRIVO ( not actually called ace) should be ashamed and improve your standards immediately. read more

Early back in March 2025, we booked our vehicles through economybook.com and arranged for a car via "Drivo/Ace rent a car" at this East Elmhurst location (August 8th). We encountered several problems with the cars that were assigned to us, particularly regarding the billing when we returned the vehicle. There were issues with the charges. After reaching out for assistance, we finally connected with Carolina M, who was able to resolve the issues. A big thank you to Carolina M for her attentiveness and for effectively addressing our concerns. Drivo/Ace Rent a Car is truly lucky to have a dedicated employee like Carolina, who is incredibly focused on achieving her goals and will do everything necessary to reach them. read more

Buyers beware!! 10pm at night and the 20 something kid behind the counter says, "Sorry your insurance has been rejected." I asked to talk to the manager as we have great car insurance. "Sorry, no manager here," was the reply. (They expected us to buy THEIR insurance at considerable extra cost.) We scrambled and got a car through a RELIABLE rental agency (Budget) who accepted our insurance in a flash. What a hassle! Never again. Say "NO" to Ace La Guardia! read more

This place is janky. That really is the best descriptor. It's cramped and oddly situated. The place is humid with no A/C and I got bit by a mosquito. The bathroom isn't clean. The folks behind the counter are not helpful. There were 4 people behind the counter but only one was checking folks in/out. I got there with no one in line--I thought it would be an in/out situation. 40 minutes later...! They try to upsell you with their extras. But when I declined because I had insurance, they made me go through some QR scanning rigamarole. After I jumped through all the hoops to connect their sketchy service to verify my insurance, it lied snd claimed I wasn't covered! I travel almost every other weekend. I'm well aware that my insurance covers rentals! The guy at the desk said I had to call the company to verify. I did but when I tried to get him to speak with her he decided it was fine. Why did I have to go through all that then??! Also they have geofencing that tracks the car. If you go outside of a certain area you get charged. I didn't care because I was in area. However, that should be disclosed on the website before you rent the car. It should also be disclosed that this is no longer ACE (which I've dealt with before) this is Drivo (which I've never heard of). The car itself had issues. First of all it wasn't entirely clean from the previous driver. I didn't notice until I opened the front passenger door. Also, there were mechanical problems: from the driver's seat I could roll down all four windows with the driver side power buttons. But rolling up the passenger side front window and rear window required having to go to those windows to roll them up individually--which was a pain. I took video, but I think yelp only allows you to upload still pictures. read more

AVOID AVOID AVOID AVOID BEWARE. This place will waste your time. Please rent from ENTERPRISE/NATIONAL/ALAMO which are right down the block. The shuttle is non-existent. When asking where the shuttle is EVERYONE told us we have to call and they rarely come on time, this location has a reputation. Everyone says they're not good at all. After waiting 30 minutes we took an uber to the rental place only to be denied. They swiped our car to only tell us they don't accept it because of the bank BUT they took my deposit. This is the same card we booked the rental with and PAID the deposit. I wanna mention that again because they'll take your $300 deposit and all of a sudden you show up to this location and all of sudden they don't accept THE SAME CARD WE BOOKED with. After calling Ace customer care to deal with this we are told that basically each location operates as is. After paying all this we had to go and rent a car from ENTERPRISE/ALAMO/NATIONAL. The manager here is not helpful at all, he will basically shrug his shoulders at you THIS IS NOT ACE THEY'RE A 3RD PARTY THAT WORKS WITH ACE. AVOID AVOID AVOID AVOID read more

0 stars! Do not use this company! They will put your safety and wellbeing at risk!! I rented a car from them Friday morning to take a trip out of nyc. A few hours later I became aware that there was a problem with one of the tires, it was leaking air and going flat. I then noticed holes in the sidewall of the tire. I immediately called and was asked to bring the car back, being hours away and 3 faulty tires that was not possible. I was then told that they cannot help me and that I should just pay for new ones. Being hours from home and from my destination I had no choice but to put new tires on. At the maintenance shop they noticed that not only was there holes in the front tire but the rear two tires were bald with cords of the tires exposed! This is a serious safety hazard and put my safety at risk! The tire easily could have exploded on the interstate. This type of damage only comes from prolonged negligence to providing proper maintenance to the vehicle. Customer service was no help repeatedly telling me there was nothing g they could do and showing 0 sympathy, care, or any concern. When returning the car I asked for a refund for the tires I paid for and a full refund for providing me with a car that was not safe to drive. They in turn deny fault and refuse any refund including for the tires that I paid for. I was sent a return summary that states all tires pass their inspection when I dropped the car off however the rear driver tire (4th photo) was still bald! Again showing that they do not provide proper maintenance or safety check. They likely have already rented the car out with the same bald tire on it. All I asked was for a refund to make this right and they refuse stating they gave the car to me in better quality but being unable to provide proof. There is no way possible to create wear damage this severe in a days let alone a few hours from when the car was picked up to the first notice to the company of a problem. Awful company read more

Insurance scam and paying customers for 5-star reviews. Stay away from Ace Rent-a-Car. The counter person used high pressure sales tactics and lies to try to get me to buy the insurance. He said I had to purchase his insurance for $250 or he would NOT rent me the car because my insurance company would not cover me in NYC. As soon as I dialed State Farm on my speaker phone at the counter, he allowed me to decline the insurance. State Farm said he was lying and that State Farm would cover me in NYC. He wanted to charge me $250 for 7 days of insurance. State Farm charges me $500 for the entire year. Ace is paying for 5-star reviews, which is prohibited by Google and Yelp. Their 4.3-star rating is over stated due to this practice. When I returned the car, the employee offered to give me 10% off on my next rental if I submitted a 5-star review in front of him and he took a picture of the 5-star review for his boss. This practice is unethical and overstates their rating. I rented my car at 8 A.M and was told my receipt would be email to me shortly. That same night at 7 P.M. I started to receive harassing emails and texts saying I didn't return my car. read more

I booked my trip in early April for mid-June. Paid $395 through Hotwire and then nothing--no email confirmation, no call, not a sound. My trip is arriving and I start to panic thinking I didn't book the car. I had to look up the charge and call Hotwire to send me a confirmation code and instructions. When I arrived, the reservation was there, but the representative said that I hadn't filled out the insurance, and because of that, I needed to pay an additional $200. The representative helped me bring down the price, but it still stands that I was never emailed about the insurance. If I were, I would have filled it out and never been charged. I rented plenty of cars before, but this was THE worst experience. Nothing against the people who work there, it's the company. read more

Do not rent a car here! We waited 90 minutes in line! There were only 4 people ahead of us and only one agent at the desk! Everyone of those 4 people were complaining how long they were waiting! Finally got a car and the interior of the back lift gate was all broken and separated. There were no other cars available- so they told us to take it and they would give us a very generous discount when we returned it. Well - this back door rattled very heavily and loud and would not close properly. It was awful driving it for over a week! Upon returning - we saw so many people in line to rent - the line was out the door! Everyone looked pissed - like they were waiting for hours. Thank goodness we didn't have to wait on that line to return the car. The return agent noted the door issue and also promised a nice discount - which we will receive by email. Total lie - they never sent an email and I had to call to beg for a discount. Got a whopping 10% off - which was a slap in the face for such a crappy broken car. On another note - the people that worked there were polite and nice. The shuttle drivers were excellent. It's not their fault. Please do yourself a favor and rent elsewhere - even it's more money - you'll thank me. read more

I had a confirmed reservation, with an 8 page contract. In the contract it said "maximum age 80". After a 10 hour flight, I arrived at the rental car to be told that I was "too old" (I just turned 80). I offered to put the rental in my husband's name (he is 69) and the agent refused. We finally got a car through Thrifty after 3 hours and an additional $450. I ride a Harley and have an International Driver's License. Unreal. read more

You know is a great idea to rent a car before you buy it. The car was excellent. I got a good deal thru a Google search here. Imagine reserving and paying for a rental car then going to pick it up only to be refused at the counter by a snotty customer service agent who claimed that running a credit check is their policy. My excellent credit rating is not their business. (According to the credit card company that I used for the reservation, this information is only necessary when an individual is looking to increase their line of credit.) Ace Car Rental has bad ratings all over the country and based on my experience at this Elmhurst Queens, NY location, I agree. Their customer service is the worst. The two star is for a very specific reason, but not a reflection of the front desk staff. The front desk staff was reasonable and courteous. Yes, the wait was a bit long, but that was expected as people often did not have their files ready. This location asked for insurance information page, which was surprising even to my insurance agent. Many customers were on the call and I suspect they were all on the phone for the information page. The vehicle was nice to drive, smelled a bit like marijuana when we first picked it up. The front desk staff was nice to talk to and helpful. Now, the reason. About 2 hour after we got out of NYC's traffic, the tire pressure warning gave us a 26 on the right rear tire and the tire was discernably flat. That was concerning for sure as we had to get somewhere the same night and that was already later than 8:00 pm. We called and was told to get a store to fix the tire in a place that was completely strange to us. No sympathy or help, simply we, the customer, was responsible for a capital investment in their vehicle. That was a one day rental and we return the vehicle the next day, basically, if the tire were damaged, we would be spending all the money to get a vehicle only to fix its tire and not getting to our destination and return it the next day. They insisted that they inflated the tire before pickup. They even promised to send me the photo of the tire pressure at the time of pickup, which never showed up in my email. Luckily, we found a place to inflate the tire and the tire never showed any warning after inflation for the rest of the trip. This really refuted their claim of properly inflating the tire before pickup. No tire, if functioning, would drop pressure that fast from 30+ psi to 26 if the tire were checked and inflated 2 hour before. Our conclusion was that they failed to maintain proper tire pressure. read more

You want a SPIRIT AIRLINES experience when you book a rental? Make sure you book with ACE rent a car!! The price you pay online will not be your final number. They have all kinds of "mandatory" hidden fees. Waited 3 hours for a vehicle... on a Sunday. After waiting they tell me there are other insurance fees that must be added to my final price. Double what I paid online. It was so bad... I went on my phone,, booked with budget (a few blocks away) at a higher price and cancelled this one at the counter. Completely worth it. Just like all the low budget airlines... they are the lowest estimate on the online booking sites for a reason. Trash. Also, the large amount of 5 star reviews within the last week.
