I've been doing a lot of landscaping and lawn care on the front of my house this spring/summer and the closest Home Depot to me is an hour or more, so I've relied on them fairly heavily this year. The customer service is usually good. I have encountered employees here before who were less than stellar but for the most part, they greet you at the door and are always willing to help you. The store has gotten better at organizing their displays over the years but finding what you need can still be troublesome at times. As stated above, the employees are always on hand to help you out. I do wish they would implement contactless payment (Apple Pay). Not necessarily because of covid but because it's how I prefer to pay these days and they are one of the final hold outs in town integrating this.

Do you know what a challenge that can be when you live in a very small rural community and hour's drive from everywhere? Well knowing that there is a convenient, well stocked hardware store right here in town is wonderful. Our local True Value is huge and carries the most amazing variety of products for all types of home improvement. It is really like having a mini Lowe's right here in town but with friendly people who actually know where things are and how to use them. Not only do they carry the usual nuts and bolts and nails and tools, but they also carry arts and craft supplies. They also have a nice selection of seasonal items and decorative items. The store is open and well laid out. Most things seem to be shelved in logical groupings and if you can't find something, staff always know where to look. They are open seven days a week. Prices are higher than the big box stores, but the convenience of not having to drive for an hour makes it a great alternative.

Yesterday, I started a project with zero planning and preparation (isn't that how it goes?) and midway through, I realized I needed to run to Ace for silicone sealant and to figure out how to modify my plumbing to convert a double-basin, double drain to a single. I was in and out in no time with the right stuff and had the sink installed and water flowing again in no time. I love this place specifically for the friendly faces who are always willing to help and actually know stuff. The Ace Rewards program and app are also great. When I'm not flying by the seat of my pants on DIY projects, I earn airline miles through the AA Shopping site when I order ahead online for pickup. Being in the mountains, things can get pricey, but I appreciate the fairly reasonable prices on the necessities here.

There is a closer ACE location to us, but this was on the way, so we decided to drop by. The hubs had actually gone online to see if they had primer before coming here, so we knew they would would have it. He actually needed to grab some plumbing stuff. What it was, I'm not too sure, but he ended up empty handed, so maybe they didn't have what he was looking for? This location is in a plaza, so plenty of parking. Tho we did have some issues getting out of the lot as a car just decided to stop in the middle of the path and block our way. We honked a few times and they just sat there. Anne is another favorite, if you need paint, she's the one you want to work with! This Ace has a private parking lot and is less crazy than the other Ace by state line. Cons- it is smaller than the other Ace, so they don't have as many items. That means, depending on what you're doing, you may want to call to ensure they have what you need.
