Not a bad hardware store. They almost always have what I need or at the very least, something close…read moreto it. I've been doing a lot of landscaping and lawn care on the front of my house this spring/summer and the closest Home Depot to me is an hour or more, so I've relied on them fairly heavily this year. The customer service is usually good. I have encountered employees here before who were less than stellar but for the most part, they greet you at the door and are always willing to help you. The store has gotten better at organizing their displays over the years but finding what you need can still be troublesome at times. As stated above, the employees are always on hand to help you out. I do wish they would implement contactless payment (Apple Pay). Not necessarily because of covid but because it's how I prefer to pay these days and they are one of the final hold outs in town integrating this.

Do you know what a challenge that can be when you live in a very small rural community and hour's drive from everywhere? Well knowing that there is a convenient, well stocked hardware store right here in town is wonderful. Our local True Value is huge and carries the most amazing variety of products for all types of home improvement. It is really like having a mini Lowe's right here in town but with friendly people who actually know where things are and how to use them. Not only do they carry the usual nuts and bolts and nails and tools, but they also carry arts and craft supplies. They also have a nice selection of seasonal items and decorative items. The store is open and well laid out. Most things seem to be shelved in logical groupings and if you can't find something, staff always know where to look. They are open seven days a week. Prices are higher than the big box stores, but the convenience of not having to drive for an hour makes it a great alternative.

Thankfully, DIY has stepped in to fill that gap perfectly. While their prices are on the higher side, that's simply the reality of living in Lake Tahoe--and honestly, it's well worth it. The staff is consistently friendly and incredibly helpful, always ready to assist. They maintain a surprisingly strong selection of products, and when you need something in a pinch, they almost always have it in stock. The showroom is beautifully organized and easy to navigate, and returns are handled smoothly with attentive support every time. In the end, the convenience far outweighs the cost. Driving hours to a competitor would easily eat up the price difference in gas alone. DIY has become my go-to spot, and I highly recommend them to anyone in the Tahoe area looking for quality service and a great local shopping experience!

The lady helping me said they would price match then they wouldn't and she was leaving so then some other manager guy took over and it was pretty disappointing. Meanwhile the other items I had in my cart these two cashier women kept asking me if I was ready. No. I'm waiting to hear if I'm getting the fair price for a faucet or overpaying by $70 since it's here now. Guess what - they wouldn't match and I left! No sale. Bad energy for me.
