Let me start by saying he has decent power equipment, as does any local salesman, but do not expect any decent customer service from the owner, his demeanor is simultaneously apathetic and uninterested even if you walk in to spend $700 on equipment. Before this entire debacle I had spent over $1500 on equipment to still get completely left hung out to dry by the owner. And let me get this across, the problem is the owner, Tommy. After getting mugged by a local business, I talked to some people and they all had relatively the same opinion of Little River Power Equipment. That they have decent stuff, but the owner is apathetic towards his customers, is lazy and doesn't want to make repairs, and will continue to string along repairs way past the "fixed by" date, and sometimes won't fix what was agreed upon. I guess I got lucky because I was hit with every single one of those experiences. This next part is my opinion, and it is a VERY detailed list of events regarding my mower. The pictures are of after he had "cleaned it up and fixed it". I dropped my Scag zero turn off in February of 2022 for them to fix an oil leak, before the season starts. I didn't have much time, as I was working full time and just wanted to start to get ready for mowing season. He never gave me a quote at the moment because we didn't know what was leaking, alright, that's fair. It was 1 WHOLE MONTH before I got a phone call saying that he thought the seal on the engine was leaking, along with 2 oil hoses, costing a total of $650 if I wanted everything fixed. I asked him how much it would be if he could do just the seal, he said $450. Ok that's fair, I said "ok then just fix the seal and the hoses for $650". At this point I didn't have much of a choice because it wouldn't be long before grass was to start growing, and that was my only rig at the time. It was yet ANOTHER MONTH before I CALLED HIM to ask where my mower was at, he said that he was "just getting it cleaned up and that it will be ready for tomorrow". The next day I came to pick it up, and stupidly, I paid before I even looked at the mower. You see I thought because it was a local business that I, and other family and friends, have bought from before I wouldn't have a problem. Boy was I wrong. The price was $570 after taxes, I naively thought "ok, maybe he dropped it a little because it took so long". The mower was never cleaned (refer to pictures), and after I paid and loaded the mower on my trailer I looked at the receipt, THERE WAS NOTHING MENTIONING A MAIN SEAL ON THE RECEIPT ANYWHERE. I went back inside, asked him if he changed the seal, and he started rambling saying "well actually apparently we didn't need to change that, it was just the 2 hoses plus a hydraulic line." Well then why on god's green earth would you charge me almost the same amount that we agreed upon if you didn't change the main thing we agreed upon. AND THEN on top of that ADD another thing and never call me to confirm. This is not how you do business. Let me keep going if you're still reading this, because it gets worse. I again naively thought that "if it works, and it's not leaking, fine. I'll just deal with it". That same day I mowed my first lawn, and after 30 minutes, it was leaking THE SAME AMOUNT AS WHEN I DROPPED IT OFF (again, refer to pictures). So not only did I waste 2 whole months, and burned $600, I still have a leaking mower and cannot mow customers yards. So what this tells me is that not only did he probably never look at my mower to diagnose what was actually wrong, after randomly changing 3 of the easiest hoses, he never even ran it to test if it was still leaking. The level of apathy that the owner of this business has is on the level of a 16 year old working at McDonald's. So went to his business telling him that it's still leaking. And he said "well if you bring it in we can take another look at it" I said, "well why would you charge me $600 and send it out if it wasn't fixed" to which he said "I thought I fixed it". I left, and went back again demanding either a refund or for him to fix my mower, LIKE HE SAID HE WOULD in the first place. He refused both. Instead he wanted me to bring the mower back again for an undeterminable amount of time, and to continue to just throw money away. I walked out and will warn every single person I can and potentially see what I can do with the Better Business Bureau. If you value your time and money, go anywhere but here.
