Love supporting our local businesses but I think Magnuson fell a bit short. We bought a $1400 Traeger grill. When we were in the the store, we reminded the young lady who rang it up that wood pellets were included. She agreed. We picked them out and she confirmed that they would be delivered with the grill (nice touch that ACE assembles and delivers!!). Grill was delivered without user manual nor pellets!! The gentleman who delivered had no manual and no pellets!! A nice touch would have been to set the grill up for first use. That did not happen. I fear that they will lose business to Pearland store who has great customer service. I do not want to come across as a complaining old lady, but owners need to be be more involved in their business. The delivery was done by the owner which is also a nice touch, so owner's are involved. My apologies. Star rating has been updated. 11/14/19 Since July, we have not been able to use this $1400 grill. We had a malfunction in temp sensor, contacted Traeger directly and went through about 8 reps trying to help us replace the temp probe. No one at corporate has be able to answer/fix our concerns. I suggested to my husband early on to go back to ACE in Friendswood, but he did not. After 4 months of frustration dealing with Traeger, he went back to ACE and relayed all of the gory detains to Mr. Magnuson, the owner, who promptly modified the part that Traeger sent (would not fit) and, voila, the grill is now operational and preparing chicken as I write this. Okay, hardware stores are not my favorite place to go. I'm just "not that kind of girl." Kudos to those who are, but it just ain't me, you know? :-) That being said, I found myself needing a product to solve a plumbing issue and decided to stop in the new Ace Hardware in Friendswood on my way home from work. I was greeted when I came in, and asked if I needed any help. I did (understatement!) and described what I (thought) I was looking for. He explained that what I was describing was not really what I needed for the problem at hand, and showed me to something else (that was actually less expensive than what I had first thought I wanted.) Long story short, this guy was dead-on. I couldn't believe how well his recommendation worked, when I had tried so many other things. And it was just so nice to be out of my element in a place like a hardware store, yet not be treated condescendingly. Everyone there was very friendly, and the store is clean and well laid out. Went to 2 different Home Depot's looking for a cap for water line. Absolutely zero help from any employee there. Stopped by here on last ditch effort- absolutely awesome employee who spent 10 minutes with me helping locate and advising how I needed to install. After the Hurricanes and flooding we came to get supplies to help clean up a friend's house and as soon as we walked in they helped us find everything so we didn't have to wander. The customer service was exceptional the whole time we were here!!! read more

A smaller store, however it's easy to navigate, and find what you need at reasonable prices. Employees are always polite, knowledgeable, and eager to help. Places like this are great at reducing confusion: they may not have 75 different styles of light dimming knobs to choose from, but was it ever necessary? Keep it simple - shop Ace. read more

Mixed bag. Upon entering the store, I was quickly asked if i needed help and was directed to the proper aisle. That was cool. However, it seems the employees really need to play their "pearl jam live" album to keep them from getting bored at work. There I was in aisle 12 trying to determine what hardware I needed to solve a fixture problem and I just simply couldn't concentrate as the staff was jamming out to that goat-voiced self-important eddie vedder bleating on and on. Perhaps I am beginning to show my age, but 90s era prog rock just isn't hardware store appropriate music. Ended up not purchasing a thing. Oh well. read more

Let me start off by saying, I created a yelp account just to write a review on how awesome this store was. I like to do a lot of fixing and upkeep on my apartment, and have always been that way. I've been in a lot of hardware stores looking for things and have always had to deal with rude customer service, or even no service at all. So, too my surprise I received amazing customer service here. Was greeted when we walked through the door. When we asked for help, we got exactly the help that we need. Even when the person couldn't find what we were looking for exactly, she let someone else know that could help us further and we didn't leave the store unsatisfied. I work in retail myself, and I know that a good store is from both the customers and the workers, but it was hard to not feel comfortable in this store location. I will most definitely be coming back to this store from now on. read more

I doubt I will ever venture back to one of those large chain hardware stores again...this Ace Hardware is THE place to find most everything you need and the staff is exceptional! They greet you when you enter and they will help you with ANY questions/advice...the clerk even helped me bring a heavy bag of weed n feed to my car! A great shop with great employees!! read more

This Ace has always helped me. I am mot handy, but they have helped me build a dog ramp, paint 3 rooms, fix a fence that was falling down, put up shelves. They have always been curtious and didn't make me feel stupid for asking questions. I avoid the one on Bay Area Blvd. They are rude with the exception of the cashiers. read more

I came here the other day in a rush because I desperately needed washers to finish a project. The hours online said they were open until 6pm but when I pulled up at 5:30 everything was locked. I rarely go to Ace but it was the closest thing to my house. Won't be making this mistake again....at least update the business hours if you are going to close early. read more

Special ordered a Weber EP-330 grill from the Magnuson Ace Hardware store in Friendswood, Texas over the phone. I checked with all the big box stores before placing my order. The grill is price controlled by Weber so, they are all the same price where ever one goes. The reason I selected The Ace store is service. The store staff is friendly and helpful, unlike the big box competitors. I also felt that they would do a better job with assembly and I would be less likely to have any issues with my purchase and I was right. Whoever did the assembly did a nice job. My new grill looks great on the back porch. I was pleasently suprised how fast the grill came in. This is a nice store to do business with. Looks like my hamburger is ready now so, I'm stopping the review. read more

This Ace is not the place. Would give zero stars if possible. The workers has absolutely no knowledge of anything. Took my Stihl motor in for tune up and got it back in worse shape. Try using a coupon at 3 different times and got 3 different answers from the check out girl on why she can't apply it. Very deceptive sales tactic. I read the fine print and none of it was mentioned. I have gave this store too many chances. Try to be the nice person and spread the wealth at the local mom and pops but will never at this one again. I've been using Pearland ace hardware and had no problems. The staff is very nice and knowledgeable. read more

Do not get your propane tank filled here!!! They will charge you an exchange rate even though they only top off your tank. 2 gallons of LPG for $16.99, hardly a deal!!! Nothing is posted that they run their fill station as an "exchange" program. This was my last purchase to support this local small business. read more

After the Clear Lake Ace was completely out of stock on Benjamin Moore paint bases, we found Ace/Magnuson and decided to try them. We had just moved into a new house and we must have ordered 20 samples over the course of a week and bought 20+ gallons of good, quality paint. The staff who mixed the paint could answer fundamental questions, so that was helpful. They were extremely patient with us and offered assistance to help us decide our needs. As a policy, Custom paints cannot be returned, and we had a problem with an incorrect color being mixed -- we felt this was a 50/50 mistake and were willing to meet them half-way to a resolution, given the number gallons purchased. I was very happy they replaced the paint with the right color. I would have given 5 stars, but when the mistake was made, and the manager on duty had to be advised, I found her to be harsh on the associate -- we recognize it was a teaching moment, but it left us feeling very uncomfortable. The teaching could have been done after the customer left. Aside from that, great service and I love patronizing local businesses and business run by our country's Veterans, is another plus. read more
