That's what it feels like to go to downtown Edenton. It's like going back in time and Byrum Hardware is a flashback of the old hardware stores of years ago before all the big box stores. He directed me to the cashier in the lumber department and said "Tell her what you want. She will ring you up and give you a receipt. Take the receipt to the opposite end of the store and they will load the timbers for you". I tried to do that but the cashier had no idea what to do or how to handle the sale. She was a tall, attractive, young black lady. I attempted the purchase around 4 PM on Tuesday, May 20th. Since she was unable/unwilling to help me I told her to forget it and I walked out. I may never return to that store again. I have been known to hold a grudge against a store with bad service for decades!

Here's my story: I purchased a $4,000 EGO riding mower from Ace in Norfolk. Deliberately chose Ace instead of big box Lowe's, in case there were problems. Mower is delivered DOA. No power, does not start. I call Ace within 30 days of purchase, and store manager passes the buck: Contact EGO. I was dumbfounded. "Are you telling me you will do nothing for a mower that never worked?" Response: Contact EGO. I said, "Can you please give me a direct link or a phone number for Ace customers?" Response: "EGO.com." I said, "Well, thank you, sir, that is so very helpful." And he hung up the phone! WOW! One more time: If you are buying more than a hammer, do NOT purchase from this store. FAIL on standing by its products, FAIL on customer service, FAIL for having a douchebag manager.
