I had occasion to go in here to look for a particular product that I remembered buying in the past and wanted to see if they had it and what the price was these days. I'm the type that likes to walk around the store and look at everything before I start asking questions so they were nice enough to ask me a couple times if I needed any help but never with any pressure so that I was able to relax and walk around. Sometimes I find things that I never would have seen if I had had a clerk lead me to directly to the item I started out looking for. Like today, I happened to see the white china pencils and remembered that I had wanted to buy one of those. They're only a dollar fifty but I just never happened on to one before and it wasn't a big enough deal to go looking for it. On the way out one of the clerks showed me a black marking pen that was better than a Sharpie for about the same price and he said it writes on anything even if it's wet or oily. That sounded great so I bought one. Maybe I'll even try it for my rock painting that I've just gotten into recently for filling in details. I don't know the price of a lot of things but on the things that I do know the price of I felt like their prices were a little higher than I might pay at other stores but that's usually to be expected from a smaller business versus the box stores. You also can't find a clerk to help you in a big box store like you can in this store. When I finally was ready to get help the young man took me straight to the section where the product would be. I wasn't quite ready to buy yet but I appreciated knowing that they had it and where to find it. I have shopped at Ace Hardware stores in other towns and found good service there too. This one ranks right up with the best of them. And they didn't make me feel like I was a waste of their time just because I was only buying a little bit. You never know when that person that only spends $3 might come back and spend $100 at another time when they need something and remember the good service. read more

I bought a Weber grill a couple of months ago at ace here in Amarillo. Free assembly & delivery & wouldn't even take a tip. I hate putting anything together. The owner brought it out set it up & was really nice. He even hauled away the 25 year old grill I replaced. So nice to go in there & get what u need instead of walking all over a huge box store with a bunch of employees that have no clue read more

The employee named Jared, longer hair, dark beard, gave excellent customer service. I needed some snap rings for a part on my riding mower transaxle. The one I got did not work. Jared got me the right ring and made sure it fit the part I brought in. Months later, I returned to the store to ask about the Stihl chainsaw I bought. Jared was there to answer all my questions. The situation that led me to file a complaint with Ace Hardware at 4705 South Western, Amarillo, Texas 79109 should never have taken place. The store was having a sale on July 3rd thru 6th and during the week prior to the sale they advertised on a sign in front of the store near Western street. It is a large sign about 4' x 6' with a black background and fluorescent orange and yellow lettering stating that paint was going on sale July 3rd thru 6th. The special that was advertised on the sign was buy one get one free. I pass by that store everyday and made a plan to stop there during the sale and buy some paint at the advertised special price. The morning of the 3rd I went to the store's paint department and asked how many free gallons were allowed and the lady there told me two free ones were the limit so I said I'll buy two and get two free and she informed me that was not the advertised special it was buy two and get one free. I told her that was not what the sign in front of the store says and I went outside and read it again then returned to the paint department and told her I was correct that it did say buy 1 get 1 free. She called a man that I assumed to be the assistant manager and told him why I thought the special was buy 1 get 1 free and we walked together outside as he called the manager of the store. He confirmed that it did say buy 1 get 1 free to the manager and proceeded to remove a portion of the sign and told me there was nothing he could do for me. The manager of the store should absolutely honor the advertised price that was on the sign. I can't think of another instance where a store, any store was at fault for the mispriced item that they did not honor the mismarked price. That is what you are supposed to do. You can correct the pricing , but you have to sell the item to the customer for the marked price. The reason you do this is to create a loyal customer. When you treat a customer as if they are important to your success then the customer returns and you become a success. I frequent other stores that carry the same merchandise as Ace Hardware and because of the poor treatment I received on my first visit to Ace I will not be a returning customer. If they had honored the advertised price I would have known that the people running this store are of high moral character and It would be a place that I wanted to shop at. Maybe the store will see the error in judgment that they made and no other customers will be a one time only shopper. read more
