However, after reviewing my transaction history, I found that despite making several thousand dollars in payments, only a small portion actually reduced the principal balance. The majority of payments were applied to recurring fees and "pawn charges," and the loan repeatedly used "extensions" that kept the balance from going down in any meaningful way. The company's advertising--such as "Get your title back with TitleMax"--gives the impression that repayment is straightforward and leads to clear title recovery. In my experience, the actual structure did not match that expectation, and the payoff process was not as clear or direct as the advertising suggests. I encourage consumers to carefully review their full contract, payment allocation, and extension history before agreeing to or renewing any title pawn loan.
