For the last 4 years I have been a solid supporter of Miller Paint. Amazing paint, beautiful…read morecolors, and helpful service. At least until today. My home recently sold, and I have spent the better part of the last few weeks patching and repainting nearly every room of the house. Yesterday, I spent majority of the day adding a coat of paint for the one color that spans most of the house. As the work progressed, I occasionally stopped to check and ensure things were looking good. I did notice that the paint looked slightly different, but assumed it likely just needed extra time to dry. This morning I inspected again - but found the same odd splotchy sheen in areas I painted the patches. Completely unlike the prior coat's sheen. So I brought the cans into the store today along with a slew of photos and videos to help them understand the issue. I had assumed they'd help provide options to fix the issue, as my window to have the house ready for the new owners is rapidly shrinking. Oddly, this was not the case. Two store reps just kind of shrugged their shoulders and told me I'd need to wait a couple months before the sheen would die down. When I asked them why this one batch of paint was behaving so differently from any other color or paint coat I had laid down in the last 4 years, I again got the same shrug & no solution. Even rooms I had patched and painted using Miller Paint but a different color did not result in this weird splotchy sheen. Feeling a meltdown approaching, I opted to leave. I then called another store - the person that answered the call just kept asking the same questions over and over & kept saying they needed details, which I provided over and over. Feeling this person just simply did not care to help, I called the company's headquarters in Oregon. Stuck in phone tree hell for close to 20 min (option 3 doesn't go to sales, but redirects to some vacation rental place), I finally gave up and headed back home - no solution, same awful shiny splotchy walls, and 2 days down the drain to the close day of my house. For such a basic issue, and for a customer that has spent thousands of dollars on their paint products, I was floored at the overall experience (or lack thereof). It could have been as easy as not providing a paint solution, but refunding my money. I will never recommend or use their products again. Save your time and money & find a different paint supplier.

River City went above and beyond on to color match - to the point that the new paint can sit right alongside the old color with no discernible difference. Saved me from having to totally repaint everything. Thank you!

The employee suggested using mistint or cheap flat paint, but I said I wanted something more durable so it would last. Trusting their guidance, I let them choose the product. That turned out to be a mistake, $150 later, I walked out with only a gallon and a half of paint. At no point was I told the price up front. It felt like I was treated not as a customer to be helped, but as a dad they could take advantage of, simply trying to make his daughter happy. I never expected a local business to treat local families this way. I should have kept going to the larger store where transparency and fairness are more reliable.

The Lowe's delivery guys were not careful with the installation as one of the delivery guys roughhoused it into place in the kitchen, and ended up in the process denting the refrigerator on both sides, had a back port covering dented, and tracked gravel into the house and under the refrigerator as they shoved it into place. (The dents were not big and would end up being hidden from view once the refrigerator was properly placed.) The installed refrigerator kind 'a rocked back and forth on what ended up being gravel under it, I asked the delivery guy about leveling it, not knowing it was rocking on gravel that ended up fixed to the bottom when they placed the refrigerator on our wet from rain gravel parking area when getting it down from the truck. The delivery guy said there was no way to level it, where in fact, there is a way to stabilize it that he failed to tell us. As he shoved the refrigerator into place you could hear a loud grinding noise; noise that it turned out was coming from the heavy refrigerator being shoved into place on top of the gravel; gravel grinding on our kitchen tile flooring. A manager from Lowe's Appliance Department (Lowe's on Division) called and asked if we were pleased and I replied 'no.' I told about the roughhousing the delivery guys did, the dents and my finding the gravel. She expressed regret about what happened. She asked for pictures so the drivers could be instructed about future deliveries. I sent the pictures. I ended up getting a call from a guy wanting details and pictures. I answered his questions and said pictures had already been sent. It sounded like he was being coached in the background as to how to respond to my observations. (He might not have been coached, it is just that it sounded like he was.) I thought of something that I needed to tell him, called him back but he did not want to take my call. I asked that he call me back when able. He never did call back. The person at Lowe's that took my call started to read a long list of how my original call went with him. I said that I did not need a replay of what was said, I needed to talk to him. He never did return my call. The next day, we received a call from someone at Lowe's that said they wanted to give us a $45 gift card for payment for the damage and hassle. I explained that my motive to say anything was not to receive reimbursement but to have the store educate the delivery guys to be careful with people's investments. I went on to say that since the $45 was being offered, we would accept it - thank you. We are a bit shocked by the $45 band-aid. We were not seeking reimbursement but $45 seemed condescending and like a slap in the face. Note: The two delivery guys had one that seemed in charge. It was he that roughhoused it into place. The other guy did nothing wrong.
