I have an old Chicago house that's probably about 110 years old…read more I used Chicago Window & Door Solutions to replace wood windows from the 1960s that had stopped working and several vinyl windows (8 years old) that had started to fall apart. I was really mad about the vinyl windows because the former owner had installed them pretty new, but they literally were about to fall out of the wall. We had to lock them to keep them in place. The previous owner had the original windows replaced, but the installer of the vinyl windows did not insulate around the frame and cold air kept leaking in. The wood windows would rattle on a windy day. I found out about Chicago Window & Door Solutions through a recommendation from another contractor who was repairing my original wood windows - he said he wouldn't work with anyone else - so that tells you something! Sue & Greg came out to meet with us, took measurements and talked about our options. They install Marvin windows. Know that they aren't the cheapest option. For that you can go anywhere, but know in about 8 years, you're going to be replacing them. But I found that they listened to what we were looking for - which for me was energy efficiency as a top priority. I liked that there was the chance to get a wooden interior on the windows. It allowed us to match the stain on sill and border opening - so now these windows look like they belong and do not look like replacements. We opted to stain the windows ourselves and they gave suggestions of how to do it. More importantly, they came out twice (next day!) when we had questions/concerns. Justin came to do the install and he removed and installed six windows and fixed a sill in a day and a half - plus he cleaned up after himself! If you've ever had workmen come into your house, you know what a mess they can leave. I am really happy with the new windows. They are beautiful, they are much more energy efficient than what I had and really block out the noise. I live on a two-way street in Chicago & they have made the house much quieter than the windows I had before.

He informed me that I needed a commercial door, when I asked did he have a display door, I was taken to the back door of their building to view a commercial door. I immediately informed him again, that I was looking for a front entry door. He walked me back to the front and preceded to search for the store catalog. When Bryan found the book he slung it across the table at me. The service was terrible, he repeatedly told me that the door I wanted would cost around $5000 on up. I made him aware that the price didn't matter I was interested in a quality door for my building. The service was just rude and disrespectful. In early May after the excessive rain we had, we found a leak in one of our rooms. I called several…read moreroofers who wouldn't or couldn't get to my home in a timely manner but SWS did. Pete was fantastic. He helped me file an insurance claim and everything was approved due his experience in the business. The roof was done within two weeks. However, we had an additional problem with our chimney box leaking and so I reached out and asked Pete if he could recommend someone to fix that problem as I fully trusted him and this was not part of the roof/ insurance, claim. Pete said he'd look into it. He eventually had some of his guys look at it and order parts to fix it. Now, I knew there'd be an additional cost but was never given any quote or dollar amount anytime we asked. Finally after about 6 wks, the box was repaired with a new cap and some siding to match it to my home because the wood was deteriorating, per Pete. Again, NEVER was given an additional price. Meanwhile I had dropped off a large portion of my final roof payment, holding the last quarter of balance until the work was fully completed. Pete also seemed to dissappear as we have not seen or heard from him since the actual roof was done. I was called by the woman who runs the office and only then did I find out the final cost of the additional work on the chimney box, which was nearly $1000 more(I could have had box removed for $400). Remember, we NEVER asked SWS to fix it, only recommend someone. Anyway, the painter finally fixed the inside damage and everything looks great after 2 Mos n 8 days. I would recommend SWS for the roofing work. We were extremely, EXTREMELY happy with that process. UPDATE: SWS MADE MY CHIMNEY ISSUE RIGHT. THEY ARE A STAND UP COMPANY.

I was quickly…read moreimpressed with Pete Galgano's attentiveness to the project, particularly in stark comparison to the 2-3 other proposals I solicited from other vendors. Some never responded with a proposal while others had a proposal in my hand within 10 minutes, which felt too much like a hard sell. SSSR's proposal was in my hand within 48 hours as promised and was right in line with all the other bids. Most important, Pete guided me through the insurance claim for hail damage that otherwise I wouldn't have pursued since the other vendors made no mention of the potential for a claim. SSSR also took care of every step of the frustrating permit process. Also, Pete was very helpful in guiding us through color selections without being overbearing. After several weather-related delays, the project started in late fall with the roof replacement. That phase of the project went quickly, with no problems encountered. The roof looks great, the satellite dish was re-installed correctly and a couple of rain diverters were placed upon request. November was an absolutely miserable month of weather, so the rest of the project didn't start until we got well into December. Once that commenced, no problems were encountered. The siding looks outstanding, and we've now got a clean new look to the exterior of the house with all the trim replaced. I can recommend SSSR without hesitation.
