I booked a surprise trip to very nice local resort for the weekend that included champagne on arrival. I decided to surprise her with a small memento of our trip. Seeing that Awards Zone had such good reviews, I decided to visit and see if they could provide me with two engraved wine glasses. I visited a week before the trip. The man behind the counter and very nice and helpful. (I believe his name was Phil for what it's worth.) It was mid-morning and I was the only customer there. It wasn't the quickest order I've ever placed at a business, but I wasn't in any extreme hurry so it didn't bother me. Half an hour later I left with an order placed, and his instructions to return one week later on Thursday (the day before our trip) to pick up the items. It was a good experience. He was very friendly and we chatted in a nice way. I felt confident when I left that I had picked the right place. The following Thursday, one week later, I returned at about 3:45 in the afternoon to pick up the order. There was a lady behind the counter I had not seen during my previous visit. I indicated that I had come to pick up the order, and she went in the back. At this point, I assumed that after a week, the glasses would be ready. They would be complete and it would take less than a minute to simply take the item from whatever shelf or box where they had been placed and bring them to me. Instead, several minutes go by. I start to get anxious, since my schedule was very hectic and I needed to make an important business meeting. The delay seemed like a bad sign and I started to worry more. She came back and several minutes later and said the glasses would be right out. I asked her if there was a problem, and she replied that she was "checking the color." Then the gentleman that helped me earlier comes out from the back. He shows me the glasses, which have a silver overlay on the bottom and on the stem. Sure enough, there was a distinct difference between the shading of the overlay. Enough that the two glasses don't match. I had no time to spare and needed to leave to make the meeting. I was unable to come back later that night or the next day, so I felt as though I had a choice between unmatched glasses or nothing. So I decided I would just take these glasses and live with it. I asked Phil if they boxed up the glasses or wrapped them up or something and he said yes, they boxed them. So I then informed both of them that I was in quite a hurry and asked them to please go and do that right away. Phil replied, "Sure I can go do that." But then neither he nor the lady moved. They stood there, not moving a muscle. So I replied, "Ok, go!" which turned out to be a bad idea. The lady behind the counter started yelling at me that I didn't need to be hateful. She began yelling that if I didn't want the glasses they could give me a credit and they wouldn't have to do business with me. She started getting quite irate, and to be perfectly honest with you, my response was to get irate too. In the interest of space, I'll have to keep it short. She yelled and wouldn't listen to me, so I had to raise my voice to try to be heard too. I decided to take a refund and leave. When I reached out to take my card and leave, her hand shot out - I don't know if she was trying to slap me or grab my card but it was unusual. To her credit, five minutes later she called my cell phone and apologized. I know that takes courage. She offered me the mismatched glasses at no charge, which I returned to pick up. But the damage was done and it was too late. I now have a poor product for what should be a special occasion, and an awful experience. Don't take the risk. Go somewhere else. If a business can't get a small order correct after a week, and yell at the customer when the customer is dissatisfied, no amount of apologizing will make the experience any better.
