I've noticed consistent progress in my strength, body awareness, and overall fitness. I have a history of ankle sprains which used to make me nervous about working out, but Keely completely takes that anxiety away. She creates a safe, supportive environment where I can focus on getting stronger without worrying about re-injury. She also has an incredible ability to identify the root of any soreness or discomfort I might be feeling and recommend targeted exercises or stretches that actually make a difference. It's like magic. Except it's not. It's Keely's skills, expertise, and depth of knowledge. Relatedly, Keely is passionate about educating her clients on how their bodies work. 5/16/26 FIFTH UPDATE…read more Sadly, need to make yet another update. Two things that are CONSISTENT at the Club at City Center. Loud phone conversations in the locker room despite posted rules prohibiting all cell phone use. Many people use the locker room before work or after workouts as a calm transition space, not a place to listen to conversations or loud personal calls echoing through the room. The Club has that rule but the enforcement is none & so the rule is unfortunately useless. Even more concerning is the ongoing phone use inside the sauna, despite clear "no phones" signage. Obviously the sauna is a uniquely vulnerable space where people are often fully or partially unclothed, physically recovering, mentally decompressing, and trying to have a few quiet moments of sanctuary and self-care. Phones in that environment create obvious privacy concerns because they contain cameras and recording capabilities, regardless of whether someone claims they are "using" them or not. Zero enforcement there which is more than a bit stressful on the regular as a normal sauna experience becomes useless to try to maintain. 2/23/26 FOURTH UPDATE Updated 3 months ago Dear The Club at City Center Management, My spouse and | left the gym today around noon (Monday). Unfortunately no hot water. Other gym members said they thought it was because Mondays are a big gym day because everyone wants to get their week going on the right foot, and unfortunately they run out of hot water by noon on Mondays. They are swimmers - I am not-but apparently they don't heat the pool either. Studio is beautiful and aesthetic, yet functional. Loved the Reformer + Strength class that I tried. I've done both separately before, but it was refreshing to have them combined. For the strength training, you can customize by picking the dumbbells/kettlebells weight. Not intimidating at all, even for first timers! Nati is the best - she truly forms a community at the studio. I love working with Coach Nando! I've worked out my whole life but as a nurse, Covid turned my…read moreworld upside down. I was deployed to hot spots and working every day. Gyms were closed, I was tired all the time, and honestly my nutrition went to crap. I gained A LOT of weight. At one point in my life I was very close to competing in a show but that didn't happen at that point. It's always been something I've wanted to do. Once I got back in the gym and dialed in the nutrition I lost a lot of weights and gained back my muscle. I knew I still had a lot of work ahead of me and I would do better if I had a coach. I looked at several coaches, local and remote. After I had a consultation call with coach, I knew he was the right coach for me. I could tell from our first conversation that he would be honest with me and he would push me. I have continued losing weight and gaining muscle with his coaching. I've now competed in several shows, done multiple spartan races, and ran my first marathon. I can say with 100% certainty that I am in the best shape of my life and I thank Coach for getting me there. A key factor of whether you will stick with an exercise program is the having a frictionless environment. Truve has validated parking at the Hive so you do not have to be driving around in circles trying to figure out where you can park safely and get into the class on time. When you walk in through the front doors, the vibe is very chill so you do not feel anxious walking into class. Most importantly, the other people working in the gym are extremely supportive and will become your community quickly. Having all these things in place makes a fitness routine so much easier to establish. There are even free community classes if that's how you prefer to give this place a try. The instructors are excellent. Classes are capped at 10 for general fitness classes, and three for Pilates. As a result, their instructors can give you abundant corrections and attention so you avoid injuries and develop great form. If you are worried that you don't know how to use a Pilates Reformer, you can hire a private trainer for three classes to learn the ropes like I did. This is the premier gym in Oakland for rehabilitation from injuries. I am a 7 year cancer survivor who has had numerous surgeries. Each time, I've had to fight back to regain my health, strength and flexibility. My last surgery was major, set me back the farthest, and happened during the height of the pandemic; recovery felt close to impossible until I walked through these doors. Not only have I converted fat into muscle, lost weight, gotten so much stronger and gained so much range of motion over 5 months, but I can keep trying new things like TRX Bootcamp that turned out to be fun. Truve's got a wide range of things you can try to keep from being bored. For many of us who work irregular schedules, late-night or very early morning workouts are the only realistic option. Having 24-hour access every day of the week was one of the main reasons I joined Planet Fitness in the first place--it made the membership truly flexible and accessible for everyone, no matter their schedule. I hope management will reconsider and bring back 24-hour access throughout the entire week. It's one of the things that makes Planet Fitness stand out, and it's important for members who rely on those hours to stay consistent with their fitness goals.
