It brings me much pain to give this storage a two star rating because the biggest asset they have here is convenience. Bear in mind, sometimes convenience can come at a cost. 1. The service at Access Storage is kind and courteous. They took me in on a Sunday and even supplied me with a truck. Mind you, this is common practice for storage places. What prevented this from becoming a 1 star review is their employees. Very kind. 2. The price for what you get is a bit high. After taxes, I pay about $140 a month for a room that's a bit smaller than a walk-in closet but again.. convenience comes at a cost. 3. The interior definitely needs upgrading. The floors are a bit rusty (see photos.) I feel like the services are priced at a premium due to its great location only minutes away from square one, or Dundas street west.. remember folks, convenience comes at a cost. 4. The radios used to crackle a lot but it seems like they've been replaced. There's no real special playlist, it's just the local radio station, but you're not there for music, you're there for storage. This ain't your iPod! Lol. Convenience at a cost. 5. The pin code system is a bit complicated. For the monthly price we pay, I wish they would have equipped us with cards we can tap to go in with in addition to the code. Speaking of code, when I try to get into the building, my pin code says invalid, so I tug a little on the door and voila! The door pops open! Needs more security. A guy just parked by the door and spent 5 minutes trying to get in the building. Continue reading. THIS JUST HAPPENED: As I was writing this review, a guy parked by the door blocking the road and a guy in a big truck was honking at the dude like crazy and they got into a huge fight. Lots of slurs. I feel weird watching this unfold as I'm writing the review. The dude who parked by the door couldn't get in, so he gave up. Convenience comes at a cost apparently. 6. The road around the building is narrow so if you're driving a truck, please park your truck (or car) in a way that doesn't block traffic. Anyways, you can tell this place has been around for a while.. but my feedback to Access Storage would be this, please put more care into your facilities. John Street Mississauga location is clean and well temperature controlled. I have rented a large unit for 4.5 years so far and have spent about $25,000 and climbing. People should realize that Access Storage can raise their rental costs at any time without restriction. Your rental rates are for a four week period. So not monthly but rather 13 payments per year. Again sad! If you are late over three days (which during Covid has been difficult for me) they tack on a late charge of $17.50. WOW! No mercy or leniency for Covid loss of work pay issues past June 2, 2020. And should you be in arrears more than 28 days, as per their contracts contract you will then be penalized AN EXTRA MONTH! WOW AGAIN. They hold your precious belongings and you hostage for a lot of money every four weeks. After divorce I have tried to keep family heirlooms and treasures safe in hopes of a future other than renting. It's financial suicide which leads to depression and hopelessness. Especially in the present Covid 19 climate. While government encourages landlords to be kind and considerate with money owed and many businesses are doing the same, Access Storage maintains its greed even with someone who has spent $25,000 and climbing. Do not rent from Access Storage or any storage company if you have any other choice. You have no wiggle room. They hold all the cards and charge dearly for the privilege. At times it truly feels like ransom pay due to their policy of taking an extra months rent for being late over 28 days, their sneaky 13 payments per year and raising the cost whenever they wish. They are holding your treasures as hostage/collateral and sadly that is that. In summation, not a considerate business. All for the money. And they've got ya by your unmentionables. read more

Had a good experience at the facility. Unit was very nice and clean and had convenient access.

At the beggining of September Access had to auction off anything of value that belonged to my wife and I because I had defaulted on my rental agreement. Amongst our stuff were some photos and an urn with our previous dog's ashes and paw print. We informed the manager of these items and he assured us that those items would be put aside in a box so we could pick them up at a later time. When my wife went to retrieve everything the photos were in a plastic laundry basket but the ashes and paw print were missing. When my wife pointed this out to the manager he just shrugged his shoulders and said he didn't know where they went. This upset my wife very deeply so she asked very nicely if he could look into finding them. After some grumbling the manager reluctantly agreed. It's been two weeks and there's been no word on where the ashes and paw print are. I know I shouldn't make any accussations without any proof but it wouldn't surprise me if someone took of threw the urn in the garbage. My advice? Don't rent from this place. read more

I am currently renting a 10x30 unit at this location and had a 10x20 unit previously. The location and prices are great and reasonable; however, I have been having a bad customer service experience with them. First off, our company requires 24 hours access to the storage unit and they said it would not be a problem. Then our staffs and I were locked inside the gate from 1 to 2:30 am because apparently we dont have access to it after 12 am. Then we called the emergency number and the staff that responsed said the location manager was not picking up the phone. And we waited and waited for a response but nothing. We ended up finding out a way to get out ourselves and did not paid the $90 fee they charge people for opening the gate after hours. Their regional manager called us at around 3am to apologize and we were ok with it. 2 weeks later, I moved into the 10x30 unit that we currently possess and realized there is no lightbulb. Since it is not 1 of those that you can easily buy from Canadian Tire, I gave them our storage key to have it installed. 2 weeks later, we still dont have a lightbulb! So we asked for the key back and I said please contact me when your maintainece guy is here. (I cant understand why they wont just give us the lightbulb) Ofcourse there is no response. It has been a month now and they want me to pay new invoice. I will not be paying them anything until I have it installed. I am paying nearly $500 a month for a storage unit I think I deserve a lightbulb! read more

My wife rented a storage unit on May 2,2017. After waiting two and a half hours even though the unit was reserved the day before and all the forms were filled out online she was finally shown the unit. There were no working lights in the hall as she was advised the lights were being changed to led. As a result it was impossible for her to use the unit. She couldn't wait any longer and had to leave. i called the next day to explain that the unit was not usable and we wished to have our deposit returned. The staff advised that there were no refunds. i have called the district manager and am waiting for his response to my voice message. I will keep you informed when he calls me back. read more
