However, after being treated for nearly four months for a shoulder pain which seemed to be a pinched nerve, I changed my opinion. The shoulder pain at first dissipated, until I came under the care of one particular therapist. Subsequently,over the next several sessions, the pain increased to nearly unbearable levels, even awakening me in the middle of the night, crying in pain. It seems my problem was "You are not doing enough for your shoulder", and for the night pain "I told you, some people have to sleep in an easy chair". In retrospect, this all was utter nonsense. In fact, that therapist's techniques were vastly increasing the problem. I was told I should come in "2 or 3 times a week" to see an improvement. Since I was paying in cash, that would have exceeded my monthly mortgage. I realized if I kept going, I would be an invalid. The result, frozen shoulder. Upon initial evaluation, I could do 8 out of 10 movements. After treatment here for the entire summer, I could barely move my arm. The cost financially, the pain, and the overall disallusionment with physical therapy has been unbelievably disappointing. I have lost faith in physical therapy, and if it makes your condition worse, likely, it is due to treatment, not any lack in YOU!

Having been to other physical therapy offices, I was a bit skeptical they would be able to help me. My physical therapist Jaclyn turned out to be the best thing that ever happened to me. Within 4 weeks of treatment, pain that I had for years was relieved, without use of medication. When I was injured at work in October 2017, I went back to see Jaclyn and she tailored my care carefully each time to give me maximum pain relief and strength. I could hardly walk due to extreme back pain when I came in; at discharge you would never know I had been injured. South Bay Movement & Wellness lost my business because of their front desk staff!…read more Before becoming a patient I called to verify my insurance coverage and pricing. I started going for acupuncture and medical massage treatment and it turned out that I was given the incorrect information and ended up paying more each visit than I was initially told I would have to pay over time. They eventually admitted that I was given the incorrect information, I reconfirmed exactly what I'd have to pay each time and I continued because I really needed the treatment. Additionally, the massage therapist's availability was limited and hard to align with my schedule so I started booking weeks in advance. For my most recent appointment, I received the text message to confirm my appointment 4 days in advance and I replied to confirm - it was correct for the day and time I booked for. The morning of my appointment I got a reminder via text message stating that my appointment was a different time (a time I couldn't make because of other commitments). I called the office right away to inquire about the time change - they saw that my appointment was moved and someone else was in for my original time slot. Knowing I booked it weeks ago (23 days to be exact), and received the confirmation text 4 days prior, I asked if the other person booked before or after me. They confirmed that MY ORIGINAL APPOINTMENT WAS BOOKED BEFORE THE OTHER PERSON. So instead of honoring my original appointment that I booked first they called the other person to see if they could switch - not to tell the other person that the office messed up and someone else (me) was already booked for that time slot!! They called me back to say the other person didn't answer their call, sorry for the mixup - apologetic but totally wrong in making me lose my appointment because of their error (and because the other patient didn't answer their phone) and would not change it on the other person even though I was booked first. Aside from the front desk staff, acupuncture services provided by Kristen and medical massage provided by Terese were excellent. It's unfortunate for these service providers to lose the business not by any fault of their own.
