This hospital was once a dump however now its an amazing hospital. From my experience I was treated with the upmost respect and awesome service . Starting from the emergency room staff. I thought I would be sitting waiting for at least 4 hrs. Its was about 1 hour and I was called in. Unfortunately I wasn't feeling well, but the nurses and Dr took very good care of me. I had pneumonia didnt even know it. I was treated with the upmost care. From transport to food service, imaging reps to blood work reps , nurses on the floor were all great. Southside has improved a lot. I would recommend this hospital for care.

They arrived at approximately 9:30 PM. Despite the fact that my grandniece is only 2 1/2 months old and had a fever, my niece and her baby waited more than three and a half hours without being evaluated by a doctor or receiving meaningful medical attention. About two and a half hours into their arrival at the hospital, my niece became concerned that her daughter's temperature was increasing. When she asked for medical assistance, she was simply given a thermometer and told to monitor her daughter's temperature herself. What was particularly frustrating was that the emergency room did not appear to be busy. She could not understand why an infant this young with a fever was left waiting for hours without being assessed. Eventually, she felt she had no choice but to leave South Shore University Hospital and drive to Good Samaritan Hospital. Once at Good Sam, my grandniece was evaluated and treated, and she was discharged approximately two hours later. My niece said that as a parent, it was incredibly distressing to feel that she had to leave one emergency room with her 2 1/2-month-old infant and drive to another hospital simply to have her evaluated. South Shore University Hospital is practically in my backyard, which makes this experience especially disappointing. I had always expected that, if my family needed emergency care, this would be a hospital we could rely on. After last week's experience, I no longer have that confidence, and will drive past this hospital to reach another.

I was surprised to see the poor reviews this group received but I found it to be just the opposite…read more I only had an evaluation and I can't attest to surgical skills Last year I went to see Dr. Lastihenos from the group for right shoulder pain . He was very knowledgeable and professional and made me feel very comfortable. Although the building is old the office itself is clean and neat and the office managers are very friendly and polite . I was administered a cortisone shot and had X-ray s and an MRI . Although the MRI showed I did have a small rotor cuff tear he suggested Physical Therapy and did not push surgery My shoulder got better over time so far no surgery needed ! Now my other shoulder is bothering me . So today was back to see Dr . Lastihenos . Once again pleasant and professional . Still following COVID rules , masks and distancing . Great staff ! Had X-rays and a cortisone shot... Hope it works otherwise PT next !

Of course when the time came for the operation I got '' I'm sorry but we could not repair your meniscus and had to remove it ??? Or cut the piece that they could not repair . That was the start of my downhill spiral into a total knee replacement by another doctor ! If I could only go back in time !!!! I was told by three orthopedic surgeons that there is no repairing that problem at my age , and if I were 20 it might work but not in my fifties ! There is no blood supply at my age to that area . How do you repair an area that can't heal ? I use to run , kneel , play golf .. not any more after this mess . Don't take any doctors word ! Get a second opinion I'm so sorry I did not ! My life is ruined just at retirement ... don't go to a surgeon unless you want surgery! It's all about the money . The oath they took is out the window for a fat ck from the Ins company .
