After Gayle and I moved into our new home in Genoa, we made our list of home improvements we wanted. We bought several pieces of new furniture through Michele at Norwalk Furniture (of which Hunter Douglas is part) and have been quite happy with the value and quality of those items. Also on the list were window coverings as most were easy to see through from the outside. We brought Mark in for a consult and were very happy with his recommendations and responding to our various questions. His proposal was very clear and seemed to be a good value for the money. We put down our deposit and within a fairly reasonable time, the "shades" were installed. We're still very happy with them and are thinking that a few more windows that missed the first round may be ripe for another review. read more

Everyone connected with Accent Window Coverings is a class act--and so efficient. We had to replace the original blinds which had been installed by Accent almost 12 years ago. The patio slider covering is so much lighter and easier to open and close now and was delivered and installed in a month. While Mark Backman (in Sales)was here writing a quote for us on the slider blinds (one would never know these are actually blinds as the slats are enclosed in a filmy material that still blocks the sun quick effectively). Mark gave us a quote after much discussion about replacing the plantation shutters on 3 LR windows. I was a bit worried about having exposed wall from removal, but the shutters are actually much more attractive and the installer (Jared) was quite efficient and really did replace all 3 in about an hour and a quarter. I was shopping around for window coverings for my house and Accent Window Coverings & Norwalk Furniture caught my eye from their billboard located on South Virginia Street. I made my way to the back of the store, toward the showrooms and found a wide display of shades, shutters, and blinds.  Out of three places I visited, Accent Window Coverings had the most to show. Mark was the salesperson that showed me and my husband around and answered all of our questions thoroughly.  He did not hesitate one bit and impressed my husband and I with his extensive knowledge of window coverings. For our consultation, Mark went to my house and quickly took measurements of my windows. After, he brought all of his samples in multiple bags from his truck.  It was great having visuals, as it helped out greatly with putting the whole picture together. I gave Mark the theme I was going for and the budget I had in mind. From there, he asked many questions to help narrow down some options for me to choose from. Mark gave me a breakdown of prices neatly laid out in an email. He was more than willing to check out different styles to accomodate my budget. I ended up going with Hunter Douglas Duolite (sheer fabric with vanes and room darkening layer) for all my bedrooms and Hunter Douglas Silhouette (sheer fabric with vanes) for all other rooms in the house. The coverings immediately lifted the house and provided what we were looking for- beautiful coverings that compliment our house, the ability to control lighting and privacy, and full functionality. If you're building a construction home, I would suggest bringing a level for your walk-through inspection to make sure all of the windows are leveled so that the window coverings will fit perfectly. If you're looking for someone who knows what they're doing, Mark is definitely the one. I cannot recommend him enough. read more

Mark remembered all the details of what look I was going for and what budget I was working with and tailored all of his suggestions accordingly. I wish I had read these reviews before giving Michelle my business. The negative comments are definitely on par with my experience. She is a dishonest, rude, non accountable person and I am in shock that she maintains any business. After over a year of trying to get her to help me with warranty repairs on her product, unreturned emails and voicemails I finally took my blinds down myself and showed up in the showroom. She was on the defensive immediately and accused me of lying about sending her more recent emails until, right in front of me and the other employee in the showroom, she "found" my email on her phone. All I wanted was some courtesy, and respect. She has none for people, apparently. When I commented that all I wanted was an apology and recognition for the patience I had shown her I left and on my way out the door she said "have a nice life". Well, I lost it and expressed a profanity which I am ashamed of and she told me to remove my blinds and she would not be working on them. I went to her very nice nearby competitor and had a hassle free experience and now they will be bidding my additional rooms and my next project too. Michelle- I'm sure you will read this and post a defensive description of events that didn't happen as it would appear is your way. Have at it. But to anyone smarter than myself reading this review before going down the road I did 2 years ago: don't. Go to Horizon for Hunter Douglass products or anything else for that matter. Michelle- I hope you get the help you obviously need. And possibly choose a career where you do not have to be held accountable or interface with the public. I'm ashamed of myself for my profanity but you should be ashamed of the way you mistreated me despite the thousands of dollars I spent with you...and it appears, some other people on these reviews as well. read more

Mark Backman has been providing me with window coverings for over 10 years. He is the only person I contact as I know I'm getting knowledge and expertise only he can provide. He won't try to sell me something out of my price range and patiently explains all the options to consider. He represents nearly every manufacturer you can imagine and carries up to date samples of all products. Most recently I requested a complicated "two covering" design on my bedroom windows and he immediately came up with the solution. The guy's amazing! He is communicative, professional and pleasant. We purchased window coverings and immediately we found that the installer made an error in the measurements. They came back and corrected it. Shortly after the installation we had to call them back to take care of problems. We have had them out numerous times and paid $90.00 each time for more problems. Now motors have quit working and am told we can't get new ones. I have called the owner Michelle Wollman to discuss what can be done. The window coverings are just a few years old. I have not received a call back. I have done a lot of business with these people but am very disappointed with their service now. read more

The designer I worked with, Mark Backman, is knowledgable, talented, and a complete pleasure to work with! Mark came by our home a couple of times to discuss design options for our three large sliders at the back of our home. He listened to what my initial ideas were, and through our iterative process of discussions and review, he helped to identify the perfect draperies and shades for the sliders. Mark also was present for the window treatment installation which was so helpful in ensuring everything went as we planned. And I want to add that the installer, Jarad Rice, was wonderful and skilled! He installed everything perfectly! Our new drapes and shades are absolutely gorgeous and beyond our expectations. I usually do not write reviews not because I have not had good service, but I do not like to write. However, after receiving such excellent service and working with someone with so much knowledge in window treatments and design I had to let everyone know that not only is this the place to come for your window treatments, but you must work with Mark Backman. Mark listens to what "look" or "theme" you are trying to achieve and can show you fabrics and/ or shades to create exactly what you want. He comes to your house so that you can see how the materials will look in your environment and does not rush the process or push his ideas. If you need suggestions Mark is who you want to work with. If you know what you want Mark knows the fabrics and other window treatments so well he can put together options for you to look at. I went with Hunter Douglas Vignette Modern Roman Shades on my windows and Alustra Duette Honeycomb Vertiglide on my slider. I am in the process of adding fabric panels to the larger windows to add a little more warmth. I trust Mark with all of my window and slider door treatments and feel very confident in recommending him. You will be happy you chose Mark Backman to help complete your dream home! Michelle is a horrible person to deal with. I would never use this company. I feel that Michelle is a lying, nasty dishonest person, Had blinds measured in September paid for in November with a promised install date of Jan 3-4, received a call 25 minutes before they were to be installed stating the blinds did not come in. Haven forbid Michelle call me a red days before and tell me the blinds were not in. Instead Michelle will lie to you giving all sorts of excuses, I ended up getting a full refund several days later because according to Michelle the blinds were not made yet. Tried calling manufacturer and they would not talk with me called The Manufacturer rep and she was as nasty as Michelle. I would stay far away from this lying dishonest nasty company. read more

Our representative was Mark Backman. He came to our home in Caughlin Ranch and measured all of our windows for shutters and blinds. The measurements proved accurate. Installation was done by Jerrod and Matt both upstairs and downstairs in a single day. The fittings were accurate with no damage. The cleanup was excellent. This company does what it says it will do, perfectly. Accent Window Coverings has the best installer, Jared Rice. He came and installed 16 shutters with window frames in my home in one day, by himself!!!! His work ethic and attention to detail were unbelievable. Very well-mannered, easy to talk to, very knowledgeable about the product and answered all my questions. I had no idea you have to know so much to install shutters, plus the window frames. After living in our new home for over a year, we saw that Reno sun can be brutal! After the wonderful experience we had with Michelle and Rich, I didn't call anyone else. Called them and they came out the next day to measure and to show me what products they recommend. They set us up with these cool shades for these hard to reach windows at the very top of our ceiling and better yet, it came with a remote control. Not too expensive and since they are Hunter Douglas products, we know that they will last. We also purchased some more plantation shutters for these narrow windows on either side of our front door. 4/22/2016 I would NOT recommend this business. They cancelled 2 appointments in a row. Both times they said it was due to an emergency. I had already taken time off from work to meet them for an estimate, and was waiting at my house. I called them and Michelle answered the phone. I asked for the employee who was supposed to meet me at the house. Michelle explained to me that the employee had stepped out. When I told Michelle that I had an appointment to meet at the house, and that this was the 2nd time they cancelled, due to emergencies, she said, "I'm sorry that you don't understand what an emergency is." read more

We had window coverings installed in our master bed room and den. The MBr are GREAT and elegant. in the den, we had a spot of bother with Hunter Douglas' quality control. With one call to AWC, they came out in a timely manner and addressed our concerns. AWC's pricing was fair, their instillation was seamless, and their customer service was second to none.
