Illinois Shaolin Kung Fu School - Our School!!

Illinois Shaolin Kung Fu School

You won't find better and more authentic Kung Fu place than Illinois Shaolin Kung Fu, for both,…read morekids and adults Kung Fu training. I've been training there for a year and a half together with my teenage son, and we both love it. We love authenticity of the place, love Master Chen and Sean and their style of teaching, love learning Forms and working with different weapons /staff, sword, broad sword, nunchucks, spear, even bull whip - we both love working with all of these, and I am a female/. To train with real Shaolin Master, captain of Shaolin Temple Performance Team side to side and to watch him going over the movements is unforgettable experience. Don't get me wrong, it's a hard work /that what kung fu means, hard work/, the warm up is like a bootcamp , cool down is another one , but you will definitely get in shape you've never been in and maybe loose few pounds. I also love flexible schedule, they have classes for every level almost every day, weekends too, you even have 2 options. I love parents train together with kids, we practice together with my son at home and test together, we have fun together. I also take Tai Chi class there and I highly recommend trying this one too. I can't speak of this place and quality of Master Chen's training highly enough. Thank you Illinois Shaolin Kung Fu Academy for this opportunity!

Although Kung Fu did helped me to learn some self defense, but it's mostly motion movements. I would recommend who is really into martial arts but I'm personally into more self defense techniques which wasn't shown up in Kung Fu.

Every machine is computerized and is programmed to always be pushing you harder and harder. It never allows it to get easier. It's always pushing you to beat your last goal by increasing the difficulty. I stayed here for a yr. I really enjoyed the coaches. I loved the quiet workouts. -It was typically just me, one other client, and two coaches here. No gym BS at all. The reason it ultimately wasn't for me is because my goal is total body recomposition. Doing the same 6 exercises on the same machines is just not going to achieve that. I needed more. More moves. Longer workouts. I need variety. I started feeling so bored with my workouts. Always doing the same 6-8 things. So limiting. There's also only a couple of minutes of cardio. I aim for 10k steps a day and because this isn't a gym set up for cardio, I was forced to either walk in freezing temps or rainy weather or find a store to walk in. I needed a gym that had endless cardio options. This is not the gym for that. Would I recommend the exercise coach to most people? Absolutely, yes. Would I recommend to someone like me who wants total body recomposition? No, your 20 min a couple of times a week just isn't going to cut it. For the amount of money you're paying, you also aren't getting any bells and whistles. This isn't a cheap gym. It's pricey. And for that amount, I'd like showers, towel service, class options. I want a sauna and pools. A locker room would have been nice. Heck, even a bathroom. Here, you have to get a key and use the business complex's bathroom.

Back in August, my husband and I were looking for a gym where we could find results. Paying for a…read moregym membership and trying to figure out what to do next or doing the same thing every time just was not working. We were tired of the yo-yo. We stumbled across EnShape Fitness through the Ro Sport Chiropractic office, which is right next door. There are many reasons why I love EnShape. The classes are small (max 8 people), which allows for semi-private training; they know everyone by name, you're not just another number in their system. They have a variety of training classes from metabolic cardio, strength training, recovery cardio, and circuits. Along with fitness, they also incorporate nutritional training, which is the key to successful weight loss and maintenance. They teach you that this is a life style change, not just another diet. The staff at EnShape is small, so they get to know your strengths and weaknesses and you get to know them on a personal level. You have accountability with weekly weigh-ins and a monthly meeting with your trainer. They care about you, your goals, and your success. Since the middle of August, I am down almost 30 lbs and 2 pant sizes. I can dead lift and bench press more than I ever thought possible. I can push the sled across the gym with weight without any help (the first time I could barely get it 25 ft without any help), and throw the battle ropes with ease. I have more stamina than I used to and feel myself getting stronger. I have definitely seen success in how I feel and how I am looking. I still have a ways to go, but I know that I'm on the right path with the right people. If you're looking for a small gym where the trainers genuinely care about you and where you can find success, check out EnShape. You won't be disappointed.

We went over my expectations and she was positive and enthsiastic while discussing goals and needs. She answered further emails quickly. Based on our exchanges so far, I am leaning towards selecting Kathryn as my personal trainer!

Kathryn is wonderful! I have had a great experience training with her for the past 6 weeks. When I…read morefirst met with her and I explained what my goals were she was very honest about what was realistic and laid out her thoughts on a game plan (protein goals, number of workouts, food suggestions). She has a background in being a life coach so she is attentive to your total wellness, not just physical, which is key for me. I work out with her exclusively via FaceTime and as a busy, working Mom, it couldn't be more perfect. She is on time and friendly, even at 6 am! If you are on the fence about contacting her, do it! You won't regret it. Scheduling times with her is easy and if I ever need to move times around she is very accommodating. Also, from the beginning she was upfront about her fees and wanted to make sure that we stayed within my budget. She never pushed me to do more than I was comfortable with. Kathryn utilized a phone app called Trainerize, which I love. She loads the work outs in the app after we have completed them so I am able to do them on my own on days of the week that I don't work out with her. It is very easy to follow along.
