Wings!

The prices may be low but the food is anything but cheap. The second we were greeted by the kind faces of the staff, I knew I was in for one of the best meals of my life. The flan delights. The refried beans and rice are traditional but far from ordinary. $6 for 8 of the most crispy and juicy wings I have ever had. Mango juice that makes you remark on just how wonderful a fruit the mango can be. The wonderful service and cozy decor make you feel at home. Do not skip a chance to have some of the best food in JP!

Carne asada (bottom) steak Veracruz (top)

We ordered the carne asada and the steak Veracruz both delicious, much better than other Mexican style restaurants in the area. They also offer a few different Central American beers. The service was good, you can tell it is a family run place. We will definitely be back.

Apple soda! Yum.

The place was empty when we arrived. My boyfriend jokingly said "I rented out the entire place for you". Lol! Love it. They were playing Spanish music. Obviously, I knew the lyrics to every song because I'm THAT Mexican. Haha. Our server was this sweet little old man with a limp. He suggested a dish to try, we did and were happily surprised. The shrimp ceviche was prepared differently than what I am used to. I would call it more of a cocktail. Still tasty. But would not order it again. As for my meal, the carne asada plate. Delicious central. I will say, they could have gotten a tad bit lighter on the salt. (Sidenote: I don't use salt in my cooking so any amount of salt will probably be too much salt for my palette). Still, i finished my meal and was very well satisfied. I also had the apple flavored soda and it took me all the way back to when I lived in Mexico. Yum! Cute lil place.

A local mexican restaurant near the heart of Jamaica Plain. I love this place, and frequent it quite a bit. They have an expansive menu and prices are reasonable. My favorite thing about this restaurant is the decor and atmosphere. This place is dim lit, spacious, and clean and the service is on point. I ordered the Chimichangas and the bean soup. Chicken was slightly overcooked and I found the portion to be slightly small. However, overall was satisfied. Id reccomend this place for a romantic dinner or dinner alone. SUPPORT LOCAL BUSINESS!

The restaurant was good but the owners need to get back to the basics. Great service but the quality isn't the same

Tres Gatos - Mushrooms

Everyone needs a favorite restaurant. It's not necessarily that it's the best by some quantifiable…read moremetric, but rather that it's the place that you find yourself coming back to, time and again. After over a decade of living in Boston, I found myself in town for the weekend and Tres Gatos was my number 1 food stop. The food is always phenomenal, with both old favorites (tortilla espagnola!) and new dishes (oyster mushrooms!). Drinks were interesting and tasty (the mushroom cocktail was so neat!), service was excellent, and the vibe is cozy, hip, and gay. Practical tips: -About a 10 min walk from Stonybrook (orange line) -Stairs to get in at the front -- it's possible there may be an accessible entrance around the back, but I'm not sure. -Parking nearby is doable, but not necessarily easy -Reservations are important, especially for larger parties on popular nights -Volume is average -- loud enough that you can't hear the table next to you (unless you're really listening!), soft enough that you can easily chat with your whole table without shouting

What an interesting little place!…read more I'd heard about this restaurant before but had never actually visited, so I was excited to finally check it out. What makes it especially unique is the setting. There's a vinyl record store next door, and the restaurant itself is housed in what appears to be an old home, with the living room and kitchen transformed into a dining space. How cool is that?! The space is quite small, intimate, and dimly lit, giving it a cozy feel. Service was great throughout our visit. The menu features a small-plates concept, which I really enjoyed because it allowed us to sample quite a few dishes. We actually tried most of the menu, and I thoroughly enjoyed the food and the overall dining experience. Now, the cocktails... unfortunately, those weren't a hit for me. I'm definitely a sweet, fruity cocktail kind of person, and even after two attempts, I couldn't find anything that really suited my taste. I would have loved to see a few sweeter options on the cocktail menu. Not everyone enjoys spirit-forward or less-sweet drinks, so a little more variety would be appreciated! Would I come back? Absolutely! The food, service, and unique atmosphere are worth another visit. Next time, though, I might skip the cocktails and venture into their wine selection instead. Overall, a charming little spot with a lot of character and a dining experience I'd happily repeat!

Yesterday, I ordered from this location. Full disclosure, I'm currently a veteran inpatient at…read morethe VA Hospital. I heard good things about this place foodwise. I used Square Up since it said it was preferred by the business. I will never again use this service. My delivery driver, Humberto, did not follow directions. He texted me and stated he was at reception. A picture is worth a thousand words. This clearly was not delivered to the main reception area. My food was left somewhere in the hospital. Now. I did contact the restaurant, and they stated they would refund me. I'll have to wait and see. Apparently, it can take a minimum of 7 business days. In the future, I will go in person or use Grubhub or a more customer friendly service. Do not use Square Up. UPDATE: FOOD LOCATED! First things first. Contacted restaurant to let them know food located. They were very gracious. Secondly, the food was lukewarm at this point. I was still hungry, so I tried it. Oh. My. Goodness. The Carnitas Tostados were Bomb! Loaded with tender pork and fresh fixings. I also added jalapeños and pickled onions. I ordered a Chicken Plate as well. That was fire, too! The chicken is expertly grilled and flavorful, Pico, guacamole, and refried bean, it was just bursting with flavor. I repeat. This food was LUKEWARM but still tasty! I will definitely try them in the near future in person and, if delivery, will use a more well-known delivery app.

I will say my order took about 10-15 minutes longer than anticipated (timing provided online) Inside the restaurant is spacious and clean. Queso fries : 9/10 I added ground beef and tomatoes (and sour cream when I got home) because I wanted to remake the border fries from Taco Bell, and these were amazing. Fries could've been a little crispier and tomatoes spread out or on the side so the fries don't get soggier. Chicharron taco 4/10 Nothing special and pretty dry and lacking flavor Chicken shrimp steak fajitas 8/10 Everything was seasoned very well but the shrimp was a little over cooked. The rice Spanish rice they provide is flavorful along with the black beans. Grilled chicken bowl 7/10 Would've given it an extra star but the cheese melting and just sticking to everything drives me nuts. I also don't like having to cut up my own chicken, but that's a preference. ((I asked for the sour cream and pico on the side so they wouldn't be hot)
