Nelson and his beloved Jeannie when I stumbled upon Acai Express on Orlando Avenue in Cocoa Beach. With the Acai fad exploding all over the US and the world, it's a bit hard not to run into one these days. From the outside it looked like a yogurt and/or one of those health nut, I mean health food joints, however; I was hungry, I had never tried one before, they had a fair-sized crowd (always a good sign) and it looked clean so I shrugged off any apprehensions I may have harbored and stepped inside. Once I did so, I immediately felt like a bastard at a family reunion as I was clearly in a "hipster" joint. I'm not saying every guy in there had a man-bun and a beard, but if someone told me they were reshooting Kurosawa's masterpiece "Seven Samurai" nearby I would have nodded, "of course they are". I stepped to the counter and told the server that it was my first time here and I wasn't sure what to order. She welcomed me with a vacant stare and explained how the menu board worked all the while I was half expecting her to give me a participation certificate for approaching the counter and speaking. Upon further examination of said menu board, I ordered their Mega Bowl which consists of all the hipster buzzword foods of the day: Acai, coconut oil, granola, banana and all the fruits. It was blended with craft and actually quite enjoyable on the palate. Big Boy says, "If you're not afraid of hipsters and can stand the site of a man-bun, head on into Acai Express for some good anti-oxidant smoothies, you won't be disappointed, unless, of course, you are sporting a man-bun then I am sure you will find something to be negative about. 3 stars." My family and I love getting our Acai here: we have been going to them pretty much since they opened. We've managed through the staff turnovers and some exceptionally long wait times (cause we know good doesn't always mean fast!). But I have always been perplexed by their hours (or lack of). They used to open at 10am on saturdays and 8:30 (maybe 8am) on weekdays. Which would allow for a pick up sometimes on the way to school but not usually because we would still have to wait for the pick up and by that time - kids would be late. So we muddled through. But today, my daughter who doesn't have a 1st period wanted an Acai before school- I called to find out they're not open till 11am! I understand Covid has impacted everyone but I'm not sure covid has changed what time we eat Acai for breakfast! C'mon Acai express - get back to normal hours please! read more

I've been coming to this place ever since I started school in Cocoa Beach, and I have close friends who now work there part-time :) With this said, I LOVE their açaí bowls and they are super filling, especially for a day at the beach. However, they are pretty expensive; the small bowl is about $8. Since everything is handmade and mixed in house after you order, service can take pretty long so don't come if you need quick food. read more

As you've seen in previous reviews, this place has a portion problem, a blending problem, and the bananas I've been given every time I've tried to give this place another chance are always bruised and rotten. I've been around the block with Acai bowls and eaten them regularly from places all over, and this is the worst of the worst. $9 for hardly any Acai. You can tell that the business doesn't care because they don't respond to reviews. Take your money elsewhere. In fact -- there's an incredible place literally 2 blocks down the street called The Surfinista where you will get a bowl with 2 packets worth of Acai for the same price, extremely fresh fruit, and it will be fully blended. I don't understand how Acai Express is still in business with that place so close by. GO TO THE SURFINISTA, you'll be glad you did. **EDIT: in the interest of honesty and transparency I will say that the owner reached out and I do appreciate having a conversation. Anytime I'm in Cocoa beach I make a quick stop to Acai Express. I absolutely love the Tropical Dragon Bowl under the Pitaya bowls. The only complaint I have about this place is it's not welcoming. Every time I've gone in they've not looked us while ordering, just kept their heads down and didn't say a word. We sat there waiting for our order as we didn't know she was waiting for us to tell her what we wanted because she didn't look at us. They move kinda slow and are not personable in there..it makes it for an awkward experience as we're sitting there in silence. I even witnessed a couple come in, they noticed the employees didn't acknowledge them and they walked out...that's sad. That's something I would really work on with your staff but otherwise I continue to go back because I love the bowls so much. read more

We came here a week ago and we've been back 4 times, so far. The Acai bowls are outstanding, and the service is exceptional. Travis was our first server, and he was truly a great kid! Waited 45 mins for an acai bowl, good but not worth over an hour time spent there our last day on vacation. There wasn't a line when we walked in and the two young employees didn't acknowledge us standing at the cash register until after about 15 mins of standing there. This first time we came here was great, the portions was reasonable for what you're paying. But things change. I'm Brazilian and I personally like my acai simple. As this establishment calls "classic bowl" in which you get: acai, banana and granola, perfect for me. In a small bowl they gave me one medium large banana, about 1/2 a cup of granola and maybe, 2 full spoons of acai. I like a little honey and I asked the girl for some, one girl said 50c the other girl said "oh, don't even charge it" when the girl holding the honey pour the honey on my bowl, I wish I paid for it, it was such a small amount. I noticed as I stared to eat it had pieces of coconut everywhere. Does that mean they didn't change the spoons they use? I NEVER asked for coconut, nor does it come with what I ordered. My sister and I saw this place while visiting cocoa beach for the day. I had the Hollywood bowl and it was below average compared to the ones I get back home in northern Virginia. The blended Acai portion of the bowl was very chunky due to not being blended adequately which I was surprised about since it took so long to make and there wasn't a line . They gave a generous amount of fruit on top though which was nice. My sister got one of the regular Acai bowls that was cheaper and she was very disappointed. Only around a fourth of the container had blended Acai in it and the rest was a lot of granola and peanut butter. Her blend was very chunky as well. As for price, it's pretty cheap compared to other places I've been to and they give you a good amount. So here you pay for what you get is the bottom line. read more

I tried this place 2 weekends ago and it was a hot mess. There were 2 employees and the owner or manager and it took over 25 minutes for them to make an acai bowl. As 4 of us stood on watching, one employee incorrectly made 3 bowls in a row, once adding peanut butter to a bowl for a customer who had a PEANUT ALLERGY and the second two bowls she kept putting mango in the bowls instead of pineapple. The other employee did not help but instead stocked goods when she clearly needed to assist the other employee for time's sake. The manager got right in the middle of the mess worrying over a speaker/music instead of addressing the situation which really got worse as it went along.
