The Health Bar, 1854 US Hwy. 1, Rockledge, FL 32955 4 Stars Tipping the scales as far north of 200 as I do, rest assured I was not looking forward to my next visit, according to my random name generator, as it was directing me to The Health Bar in Rockledge, FL. The name alone caused my lipid cells to cringe. To paraphrase Machete, "The Big Boy don't eat health food." However, let me tell you, this "bar" run by Fen and Amanda Ireus is truly wonderful. Fresh food, attentive help, and an owner who happily greets everyone as they enter. However, I would be remiss if I said they did not account for patrons as fat as myself, as none of the seating here would hold a person over 150 pounds (I might be off a bit, but it certainly looked unsupportive of many big-boned individuals). I found one stool to sit on, managing to get one cheek on while the other dangled. Anyway, I digress, and that is my problem and most likely not shared by you. This restaurant is an ode to the rapidly expanding health food craze that has been sweeping the nation since the '70s. It seems to come and go in waves, and we are in the midst of yet another cresting wave. I asked for one Health Bar Cobb Wrap and an order of the Holy Guacamole Toast. Consisting of fresh Romaine, tomato, red onion, a boiled egg, cheddar cheese, avocado mash, ranch dressing, and BACON. Yes, meat candy in a health food joint (these are my kind of healthy people). Believe it or not, the Health Bar Cobb Wrap was the weaker of the two. How is that possible with bacon, you ask? The ranch was cheap food service blech, and they just slathered it on, ruining the taste. This is a fantastic wrap, sans the dressing. Next up on the Big Boy's palate is the Holy Guacamole Toast. Made with fresh avocado mash, tomato, red onion, and chopped garden-fresh cilantro, this was so good I could have eaten 20 more, but then that would defeat the purpose. Now you understand the conundrums in which I find myself! A 5-star Holy Guacamole Toast and a 3-star Wrap (curse that dastardly dressing!) get us to a Big Boy rating of 4 Stars. The Big Boy says, "Get the toast, any toast will do ya. Get the Cobb, just ask for the dressing on the side until they upgrade." read more

I've been sick all week dropped in today for the immunity booster smoothie, I hadn't been able to talk for a few days today after my smoothie this is the most I've talked. Amazing, fresh ingredients. Only got a smoothie that was soo good and actually healthy, unlike some of the chains around here that market health foods but then dump a pound of sugar in your smoothie. What a welcomed edition to the neighborhood! Love that I can text in my order and that it is ready in no time. My favorite smoothie so far is Mint to Be, it is the perfect balance of delicious healthy flavors without all the added (and unhealthy) extras you might get somewhere else.
