Build Your Own Bowl - Nature Acai Bowl (Regular)

Was in the area for a workout class and wanted a much needed sweet treat and found this in downtown Monrovia. Found Acai Bar, service was run by one employee and quick. There's in and outdoor seating. I got the Build Your Own - Nature which was a 12 oz., wished they had Pitaya as a base but there's only 3 bases; Acai, Ube, Majik. You can choose all 3, I liked the Ube more like creamy than icey compared to the 2 other bases. Topping you can choose 4; again limited to choices but sometimes less is more. Overall, good spot if you're craving an Acai bowl, there's lots of things to do walk around in downtown and people watch while you eat.

This cute açaí shop is located in the very charming old town Monrovia on Myrtle street. We ordered the regular açaí topped with the usual blueberries, strawberries, bananas and granola. I also bought one of their Chubby cookies. I got the chocolate chip one. It is more like a blonde bar than a cookie. The texture is dense, dry and crunchy. The flavor was good though. The shop is super adorable and service was good. The seating inside can accommodate about 10 people. There is free street parking and parking lots nearby. The entire street is lined with Christmas lights and decorations: the scene exudes festive and enamoring small town vibes.

Really wanted to love this place since it's so conveniently located, but it was a miss. Maybe it's what I ordered? I ordered the make your own bowl with the Blue Majik base topped with bananas, almond butter, and granola. The base was wayyyy too sweet, enough that I couldn't even finish the bowl. Ate what I could because it was $11 I didn't want wasted, though even the texture was strange. It was more icy vs creamy. Again, maybe I ordered the wrong thing on the menu. Willing to give it another shot, but definitely ordering a different base next time

So after 2 years I finally decided to give them a try again. What a gross disappointment. Granola, strawberries and Acai were fine. Bananas and raspberries were mushy. Seriously, save the mushy fruit for the smoothies. Plus the raspberries had dirt all over them. Worst of all was the insane amount of almond butter in my bowl. There was so much, it was all I could taste. As if this experience wasn't bad enough. Someone walked in with their cat. She left, came back in and proceeded to make a bowl. I can only assume there was cat hair everywhere. Thankfully I was eating outside as I am extremely allergic to cats. Total trash experience. I'll continue to go to Ubatuba in Pasadena instead

located on the corner of lime & myrtle! along lime there's 20 minute parking and myrtle you can find 90 minute parking. i went around 9am wednesday and found parking easily. staff was friendly! the store is along old town monrovia & has a cute homey storefront sign the store is tiny and well kept! as for acai, there are 4 different sizes & i went with the 6oz nature bowl which is about $10 and comes with 4 toppings. i did brazilian acai (i love that this place has frozen acai), hemp heart granola, banana, strawberries, & agave honey!

I had a hankering for overnight oats and was so happy I stopped in. Portion was quite big and there was a great variety of toppings to choose from. Interior is clean and fun. There was one staff working at my visit and she got my order promptly. Great spot for a snack or breakfast that is on the healthier side.

Still one of our fave fruit-bowl spots in the SGV! Lots of options, fruit is always fresh, staff are friendly, great location, and their açaí base has a lovely flavor - it's not too sweet and always tastes freshly made. Their menu has quite a lot of variety on it...lots of pre-defined bowl choices as well as some build-your-own style options. On our last visit we wanted to try something new so we got a couple of chia pudding bowls and YUM!!! Omg we loooooved their chia pudding! Very soft, squishy, and light with an extremely generous portion! And it comes with three toppings of your choice so my hubby got all different berries and I got strawberries, blueberries, and Nutella and it turned out to be an awesome combination! Their fruits are always fresh and excellent quality- when they have them. It took us a while to get our order put in bc they were out of a lot of the fruits we wanted - like mango and blackberries. However, this was towards the end of the evening so they have more choices if you go earlier in the day. Their prices are good for the area. PRO TIP: they even have a coupon in the Monrovia Quarterly magazine for a BOGO bowl if you subscribe to that publication (always lots of local deals -highly recommend!). And they still have a Yelp check in offer on a nature bowl that pops up but it says that it expired this past summer so I'm not sure if that's still going. Staff are always friendly. Since my last review, they've added another larger table inside so there's a little more inside seating. But really this is more of a to-go place - and lovely library park is right next door which is a great spot to eat your treats!

Yummy yummy acai spot! Nothing too crazy, decently priced (although is that really true since we decided $10 is okay for a frozen fruit puree?) but nothing special. It's nice that it's close to home and there's plenty of parking on the street on a weekday morning. Right next to the library with a big grassy lawn and a playground if you want to mosey around nearby with your acai.

Introduction: - It was another pokemon go crawl. I was walking from one raid corner to another to finally end up craving a refreshing healthy meal. - This place is right next to Monrovia's public library. Pros: - They had wide variety of acai bowl options. Once I saw a peanut butter flavored acai bowl for some extra protein boost I was sold. I got the butter me up in a nature bowl which seemed larger than expected! It was pretty delicious. Although, it is messy trying to mix everything together. - Server was quick and was able to shoot out my order in less than 3 minutes. I was pretty impressed. Cons: - can be a bit pricey. It costed me about $11 for a nature bowl. Conclusion: - Although, this place might be on the pricier side. Your gut and body will love you for paying the price. Definitely, recommended to try out.

This was a disappointing experience for me. It looked really good. The staff was nice, but the product just wasn't good enough for me. The acai tasted weird to me. Plus, the ratio in the bowl was not good. It should have been layered. When you have fruits and stuff on top and acai way on the bottom. It's hard to get a bite of everything until you really dig into it. I've had much better acai bowls at other places. I got the vitality bowl with bananas, strawberries, and coconut strips.

This is not an açaí bar the way you imagine it to be. At every other açaí bar I've been to, bowls are $8-10 and come with unlimited toppings. Here, the $9 medium comes with 3 toppings max, every item after that is $1. For example, if you want a bowl with blueberries, strawberries, and bananas, that's all you're getting, no granola or anything else. Want almond butter? That's $2 extra. A bowl that costs $10 at a competing establishment costs around $20 here. Once I understood what was going on (I was alerted to their pricing only after listing the entirety of my order, all 10 items) I changed gears to the only reasonably priced item on the menu, a smoothie. Mine was supposed to have açaí, dates, bananas, and peanut butter. I'm giving 2 stars because the smoothie was thirst quenching, but it was nothing more than açaí juice and ice... mostly ice... certainly not a smoothie. While waiting, I noticed that nothing was happening, no smoothies were getting made, people were just standing around and talking. Two girls holding a pitcher full of juice talked to each other for close to five minutes before I asked them if the pitcher they were holding was my smoothie. They sneered at me and said "yeh." I asked if they could please make the smoothie, that I needed to be on my way. They both paused, eye-rolled me, and got started making the "smoothie." Terrible experience, terrible pricing, terrible product, terrible service. Good luck. read more

Acai Bar in Monrovia is the best acai bar and has the most delicious bowls. I enjoy receiving the "Nature" bowl. They offer a wide variety of toppings at reasonable prices. Additionally, the produce is fresh, and the aca is delicious. The staff is one of the finest aspects of Acai Bar in Monrovia. The staff is extremely pleasant and accommodating. They are extremely hospitable and prepare excellent cuisine. The environment is wonderful, and I enjoy conversing with them. They are extremely sociable and wonderful people in general. The best bowls in L.A , tons of options and all absolutely delicious, i wont go anywhere else for when i get the craving. If your in a hurry you can call ahead and even pay over the phone and just pickup. I love this place!!! So I've been to the other location (Pasadena) but this one is HUGE! Super cute, they have the same menu plus some extras things I have to come back and try. There's lots of vegan baked goods, good seating and location also has great parking. The vegan cookie is amazing and the vegan coffee cake looks good, I'll have to try it next time. The açaí base here is my absolute favorite. I got a bowl with granola, banana and blueberries. Perfect place to stop by for a quick treat. Will definitely be back soon :) read more

I came across this acai bowl spot in Monrovia and it was definitely worth trying! I chose the build your own option. The acai was not too sweet and the fruit toppings were fresh. I wish they offered unlimited toppings of course, but even with the amount you can select the acai bowl is still delicious. The employees were friendly and welcoming there. There's very little seating inside and a couple tables outside. It's located in a nice area to walk around with many other shops, restaurants and food/drink spots. read more

With as many acai places around, I got to say this place has the creamiest acai. Depends on what you like, but I hate the icy blends of acai. They also have bee pollen. Have heard people complain that it's not mixed well in terms of ingredients, but then that's part of the "plating". It's a little on the pricier end, but it's got a cute view of the mountains and people watching. Staff is nice. The other day I called in an order and got the wrong smoothies, so taste test before you leave if you're going to-go. Wouldn't bug me if they weren't like $9 snacks, but at least it was healthy and my coworkers weren't allergic to whatever they accidentally made. read more

I love the acai, it has the best consistency! I come here with my boyfriend a lot and the customer service is good and they remember us well. Only thing is they keep raising their prices gradually, so far it's happened twice and it gets more expensive and harder to get a reasonably priced bowl. Also, there's a rewards program that gives you a free bowl after a certain amount, but when used it only discounts the old price of the bowl, not the current, actual price which is unfortunate. Overall though, love the bowls and the ambiance inside is very cute. read more

Been here 3 times, 2/3 times they have gotten my order wrong. The quality is great! Very fresh ingredients and delicious açaí bowls. However, I don't think I'll be returning anytime soon because of my incorrect orders. First time I was given the wrong size, when I paid for a medium bowl they gave me a small, so I brought it up and they gave me the correct one. Second time they gave me the incorrect size and incorrect bowl. When I brought it up, they told me I ordered the smaller bowl; however the math didn't make any sense because then I was also overcharged. Despite the size, they also gave me the wrong bowl. Sucks because I was pretty excited to come here after my runs, but I really don't want to be overcharged again. read more

So happy to see we have a great local açaí bowls shop - the bowls have always been fresh and tasty. This review is for the staff at Monrovia location this morning. We ordered for pick up on their website and didn't notice order was for Pasadena location - when I went to pick up, staff was so nice and accommodating and re-made my order at the monrovia location. With all the staff challenges businesses have been facing, this business is fortunate to have such great service oriented employees here. Btw - After this, I noticed their website didn't have option to order from Monrovia and if I want to order at monrovia location in future I need to use Grubhub. read more

Otherwise, it might feel a little awkward sharing such a small space with people you don't know unless you're not socially awkward. They have a good variety of drinks on the menu, though they don't sell any food. My sister didn't like the drink she initially ordered because she had requested foam and salt, but the staff was kind enough to remake it to her liking, which we really appreciated. Good customer service makes such a difference, and they handled it very kindly. My drink came out great... good size, good flavor, and fairly priced. If you are going to visit Tru Bowl I recommend you try their açaí bowls. I may give them another shot with the drinks but for the time being I see myself only ordering the açaí bowls.

My total was $7.25 and I gave her $10.25 so I could get $3 dollars back so I don't get change. She was refusing to take the $10.25 she kept telling me that she already rang it on the cashier box and couldn't change it. I was nice and can you please just me $3 dollars back to I don't get change. And she kept saying no no and was only giving me .75¢ cents back. I told her I gave you $10 the change is $2.75 she kept rolling her eyes and finally after I explained that my change was $2.75 and I I give you .25 cents you can give me $3 back. She finally gave me the $3 dollars with this nasty attitude and almost like I was bothering her. After I got my receipt I was scared for her to make my drink by way she was acting all sketchy. Luckily the guy that is always there made my drink. This left a soar taste in my mouth so I had to say something.

I recently visited Acai Bar on an extremely hot Saturday afternoon, seeking a healthy and refreshing treat after spending time walking around Library Park and Old Town Monrovia. My experience this time was much better than my last visit. Food & Value: I opted for the build-your-own Vitality Bowl (12 oz) for $14. In my opinion, the largest bowl is the best value, especially since it's only $4 more than the Nature Bowl (6 oz). It's enough for 3-4 people to share, making it a great choice for groups. For my bowl, I chose a mixed base of Brazilian Acai and Blue Majik with four toppings: strawberry, granola, mango, and bee pollen. The Acai had a subtle, refreshing taste, while the Blue Majik tasted almost like a blend of tropical fruits. Both bases were delicious. Having two different bases in a large bowl added a nice diversity of flavors. Service & Cleanliness: When I arrived, the inside tables were dirty, but the workers cleaned them promptly. The self-serve side table was well-stocked with lids, spoons, and napkins, which was convenient. Never realized that I lived so close to an acai place until one day I randomly passed by this store while I was on a walk. This place is a gem, especially with the great service that Yenna provided me. Since it was my first time here, I had a lot of questions about the menu options but Yenna had answers for everything and I ended up ordering a small size of the Butter me up, which had peanut butter, banana, and cacao nibs in it; and I was not disappointed. It was delicious! Also, the store is very clean and aesthetic, and the music selection was great, similar to a cafe as it was relaxing. I will definitely be stopping by more often. Decided to give this location another try and ordered a large bowl for delivery. What was received was even worse than before! $15.50 for a cup that is no where near full. Paid an extra $1 for raspberries and there are FOUR in the cup! Prices have give up, but twenty-five cents per raspberry?
