I am trying to take the alarm bypass off one of my kitchen windows. They (Acadiana Security Plus/Pye Barker) want to charge me $140 for a technician to come and enter the security code on my panel that will allow them to do it. $140 to drive a few miles and punch in their secret code!!! Merde, I don't know WHO recently bought Acadiana Security Plus, but the overall quality has dropped precipitously. Don't get me wrong - the technician we dealt with in person yesterday was great - very personable and competent. And, though it took it took thirty minutes, the individual that FINALLY talked us through shutting down the badly - and very loudly - malfunctioning alarm after was very competent and patient. However, everything that we dealt with in terms of service and professionalism up to that point was absolutely awful and nothing like what we were used to. Apparently thr problem is that when Acadiana Security Plus was thought out, they reduced their phone staff to only one overnight technician, which is why we were stuck for forty-five minutes on the carport in the LIGHTNING STORM WITH A SMALL CHILD to get away from the howling alarm. ALSO, the multiple individuals that used to answer the phones, providing immediate answers and assistance, have apparently been replaced with one overnight office staffer who is TERRIBLE. This particular fatuous individual is unprofessional, rude, condescending, and doesn't even bother to answer with the name of the company anymore, and starts raising her voice when a customer doesn't immediately respond to the completely unfamiliar "Central Station". In fact, it was sadly she that answered this morning at 6:00 in the morning when I called to figure out why the keypad was simply sounding an alarm again. After condescension, stating the obvious, and reiteration of condescension in stating the obvious, I finally got her to switch me to THE overnight technician. He couldn't give an answer for why it started randomly going off at 6:00 in the morning either, other than that it was the part that needs replacing. He also didn't ask for the code from the keypad, nor could he answer whether or not this was going to continue happening at random points. At least the one guy yesterday was competent. These are just a few of the problems out of several that we've experienced in the last 24 hours of dealing with these folks. However, they seem par for the course, in my experience, for what happens when Carpetbaggers from another area buy up an Acadiana company. An immediate drop in professionalism, personal service, quality of service, staff, and a dovetailing through a central Hub that is less than efficient and irritable with questions, all sound painfully familiar. We've been with this company for 15 years, so that should tell you out there and the company itself how ticked off we are. So rest assured, it may be a while before we eat complete our contract, but if such idiocy continues, we shall certainly not renew it. read more

I've been using Acadiana Security Plus for about 7 years now and I don't have many complaints. They are a locally owned service and if you want your security system serviced quickly and professionally, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Acadiana Security Plus. Amy Corner has been excellent to work with and she follows up and makes sure that any concerns or open items are completed. I recently purchased another home in Lafayette that was being built and we had the security system "roughed in" during construction and then finalized at the end of construction and it was a lot cleaner and smoother than having them cut into your walls after the fact. A lot of today's systems have wireless components and Acadiana Security is no different. In fact, they offer fully wired, wireless or a combination of both depending on what you desire and in fact mine is a combination of both. Their pricing is very competitive and I did shop around this year before deciding on staying with Acadiana Security Plus. The biggest reason I went with them again was the service and warranty on their components. It's better and I know that when I call them I am not speaking to some rep in Atlanta or San Diego who has to coordinate through others to get something done at my house. I'm locked into a contract with a company I've been with for just a couple of weeks and already hate. 1.) they tried to double charge me for window sensors that I had already paid for and THEN tried to act like they were comping them since they screwed up and installed a sensor on a wrong door. 2.) I was on the phone with them for 3 days because they messed up and set up an indoor motion sensor as a perimeter sensor, which had my dog setting it off all the time. 3.) they had to come fix THEIR mess up and now I've got a $50 service charge. They messed up and put a hole in my wall, which they owned up to and had to get fixed. A 1 day job turned into me having to be home all day for 5 separate days because the guy coming to fix my wall had to reschedule AFTER he was supposed to be there several times. This is a terrible company and I advise anyone asking to go elsewhere. Worst security company I've yet to deal with and I've had ADT and Vivint before. I regret switching. read more
