Fresh sandwiches however fresh doesn't make it good. The clerk making them seemed very confused and asked multiple times - not a bad thing wanting to get it correct other customers left waiting so long. Our sandwiches were overloaded with Mayo so much it was as if that was the main ingredient and the meat was the condiment. Mushy and gross. We won't be back . read more

Had kind of a bad first impression here. Tried to order a sandwich. Had to be somewhere in 90 minutes. Sandwich guy says he's backed up 25 minutes. Don't see anyone else waiting for sandwiches. This is a great small grocery store with a real butcher onsite and lots of high end really nice products. We got some yummy brats, nice mustard, fresh local sourkraut, and a nice head of romaine lettuce. We are going back for the bone in pork chops. P.S. I read the other reviews and FYI: they advided us when we commented on the nice looking steaks and chops that they just hired a new butcher so perhaps the sandwiches will improve. Should be a nice store, but the young staff is very poorly trained. They don't seem to know about their products, can't answer questions, and acted aloof and uninterested. Asked why the price we were charged for a pie was $2 more than what it said on the package, the one ringing it up said, "I dunno. I don't have anything to do with that." We tried to get someone's attention at the Deli to buy some cheese, but they couldn't be bothered to speak to us, and when they did they didn't know anything about what was in the display case. When we asked for some cheese spread (clearly labeled as such) she said, "we don't have anything like that." Even when I pointed at it, all she could say was, "you want that?" Apparently nobody is training the workers in how to interact with customers. read more

we stopped here to buy scallops and steaks. The scallops were great and we paid for prime boneless ribeyes. What was supposed to be prime ribeyes were probably choice New York strips. The butcher didn't have any in the meat case but said he could cut us some. When we came back to the meat case he had them cut and wrapped and I guess I was stupid to not have asked to see the steaks. But we were charged about $65 for 2 steaks that weren't worth a fraction of that. So disappointing and we will not go back there. read more

We came here to provision for a day of hiking. Not sure if this is typical, but they didn't make sandwiches to order- you have to select one of a handful of choices of pre-packaged sandwiches. They were fresh and tasty enough, but nothing memorable. There was a good selection of chips and packaged treats to take on the road. All was perfectly good and met our needs, I just expected something a little more special based on previous reviews. read more

Only one star if you're going to get a sandwich/sub from the deli bread is not fresh/local, is mushy and undercooked. Ordered Italian sub and the casing was still on the salami after they sliced it and put it in the sandwich. Asked for hot peppers got bell pepper slices instead. Went there last year and had an excellent sub. Guess the new deli help needs to do an internship at subway Or other franchise sub shop to learn how to put a sandwich together read more

We stopped in for a sandwich to take on our hike up Acadia Mountain this morning. This is the cutest shop ever! The service was extremely prompt, friendly and the sandwiches we're amazing! Some of the best we've had. They have a lot of organic foods as well as an on site butcher. We will definitely be back. My only suggestion would be to have a sign out front. I drive by this place everyday and finally stopped in today, while it looks nice,looks can be deceiving. While waiting for the deli girl to finish making a sandwich and take my order, her apparent friend walks in, walks to the front of the line and she takes his order instead...I was like okay guess my money is no good here and left. Aside from all that the sandwich selection is weak, your basic run of the mill sandwiches , no creativity whatsoever. Their Italian sub ,like every other place in Maine is not even close to what a real italian sub is, geez people in this day and age of the internet its not that hard to look it up!! And what kind of deli with a butcher shop does not have bacon on any of the sandwiches?? The kind i'll never go back to that's for sure, and I eat out everyday read more
