I've taken two classes here and a refresher: Google Analytics (twice) and HTML Fundamentals. Both were great, and the instructors are friendly. I love how small the classes are too. Recently I took Kate's class on HTML Fundamentals, and I learned a lot! Kate was very friendly and provided the right amount of encouragement and offered help when needed. Kate was also very efficient while also being thorough which allowed her the time to answer many of the classes questions. I would attend another of Kate's classes. Scheduling is the only reason I am giving this review four stars and not five. I've had all three classes I've taken rescheduled at some point. The reason I take these classes is to help me with current projects and tasks at my existing job, so when the classes are rescheduled it just delays my work. read more

This was probably the best experience I had in a long time in a class room setting. It was only me and another girl Kendra in the class. The class isn't beginner course so but Barbra was helpful. I get bad anxiety learning new things and I talk to Barbra before my classmate made it in. She sat with me and help and in courage me. I felt much better and confident. I just finished a 1-week night class (6pm-9pm) for SQL Fundamentals. The class was small, but that just means we had a lot of interactive conversations as we went through the material. Michelle was great in getting everyone involved in the exercises! I really liked how the class covered many things you are going to encounter in the 'real-world' instead of just dryly mimicking the information out of the book. Also, putting it into a perspective of 'how do I accomplish this in my job?' was *very* informative. I enjoyed the interactive atmosphere of the class, and Michelle did an excellent job of making sure everyone got something out of it. Thanks Academy X! Allyson combines a great sense of humor with a low-key approach that makes learning fun! I enjoyed taking Intro to Excel with her and would love taking additional classes taught by her. I had Tom for a private tutor and he was very detailed and patient, giving down to earth examples that made content accessible and reinforced what I had learned in the Intro class. He explained topics in a variety of ways including different ways to approach creating a formula or performing an equivalent function. Great job as well! I took the Excel Intermediate class with Debby Brown and I highly recommend the class and the instructor. Debby even stayed after class to help me with a work-related Excel issue that did not relate to the class material and she was able to show me some shortcuts that's I've implemented for Excel reports at my job. Within the first 20 minutes of class I learned some quick and easy tips that I had no idea even existed and decided the class was well worth it right away. I took the Power Point Class (Into,Intermediate and Advanced) at AcademyX in San Jose. My instructor was Debby Brown and Rebekah 3witt. Both were amazing teachers. Having no knowledge at all about this, they were very patient and made me feel very comfortable. They were extremely knowledgeable and pleasant and as a result i learned alot! Unfortunately, my job doesn't require me to know how to use Microsoft Excel. Most jobs these days want the candidates to have that experiences with this program. I took a introduce Microsoft Excel course here and it was definitely worth taking. It was a lot easier to use then I thought it would be. Susan H. was a wonderful instructor. Her instructions was easy to understand and watching her do it on the 2nd screen definitely helped out a lot, especially if your a visual learner. I recently took the "Access Fundamentals" class with instructor Casey R. I will say that coming to the class with no knowledge of how to use Access, I left there after the second day feeling like I know the basics which was great. There were of course a couple things I didn't like. My co-worker and I both attended the class. The instructor said everyone needed to put their phones in airplane mode during the class. I did not do so because I am a parent and need to be reachable in case an emergency happens regarding my children. I was happy to put my phone on silent however. It became apparent that anything aside from airplane mode was unacceptable because Casey began watching me like a hawk and if my hand moved anywhere near my phone she re-announced that all phones should be on airplane mode. This became very annoying as it was not like I or anyone else was browsing the internet, social media, making calls, etc. but she was clearly tiffed about it enough to be distracted in any attempt to catch me touching my phone. Remember, I'm an adult... I'm 37 years old and know how to act professionally in a class my company paid $500 for me to take..... At the very beginning of class she explained that everyone should ask questions as they arise so that nobody is left behind. That seemed like a great idea, except when some other student said she had a question, Casey told her to ask later in order to not "throw her train off the tracks." My co-worker did not look up at Casey as she began explaining something on the white board quick enough so she made another general announcement that everyone needed to be looking only at her while staring at my co-worker. It was very much how someone talks to children, not grown business men and women. I don't like being spoken to like I'm a child. I don't like instructors who seem to quietly have a fit if you don't comply to what I consider an unreasonable requirement (all phones being in airplane mode). I DID learn from her, but her neurotic behavior regarding some of her rules made the class not fun. I advised my boss about how Casey acted towards my co-worker and I, knowing very well my boss and another co-worker would be taking a different class at the same location the next day. I was surprised to hear that Casey actually casually complained to the class about "a student the prior day who wouldn't turn off her phone" before she knew my boss and co-worker were in that class, which was very tacky and unprofessional. I am rating this experience 3/5 because I DID learn what I needed to learn. Perhaps Casey R. was just having a bad day or something... I don't know. ‍ read more

I took the Advanced PowerPoint course on 8/25/16. Allyson McNeil was an outstanding instructor. She took us through the material in a way that was both logical and entertaining. I learned things about PowerPoint that I never knew existed thanks to Allyson. The classroom set-up was non-traditional, but very effective. Each student has their own computer set-up, as well as their own monitor to view what the instructor is doing. This is much better than having to constantly look up at a different screen. I took Crystal Report 2013 with Casey for two days and it was awesome! She was patient and helpful. The class was a fundamentals class so we were in the fist phases of what Crystal Reports is. I really enjoyed the class and they even provide a book to take notes and keep. At the end of the class you get to keep your work as well if you bring a flash drive or download it to dropbox or something like that. I recommend this class if you are new to Crystal Reports and just starting out. read more

Loved my 2-day Access Intermediate Training! Class was super small so, as others have stated, this made the interactions very personal and each student was able to get help with job-specific scenarios. Tom B. was super chill, good sense of humor and didn't just read directly from the book. He had legacy knowledge from Access of yore which helped when the manual was missing a step here or there. Will definitely be back for the Advanced class. PS Pack and enjoy your lunch in the open and relaxed TechMart lobby/ atrium; otherwise, food options are: $$$ hotel food next door, ToGo's nearby (but very busy), and Byte Foods vending frig (cool; Google it) in the TechMart lobby. Loved it! Took Photoshop Fundamentals course; was a great overview and made me feel way more comfortable using the software (although there is still so much to learn!) Ken D was a great instructor, very thorough but was able to touch on most basic training. Was willing to discuss any topic the class asked (which was only 5 of us so nice to have more one-on-one training), showed multiple ways of accomplishing a task in Photoshop, and cool tips and tricks. I will say, by the end of the second day my eyes were a little crossed and hard to fully check out from work for two full days, but overall would recommend! read more

AcademyX provides a simple way to host training classes. I took beginner Adobe Indesign training and had a positive learning experience. Much of what I learned, I will use day 1. AcademyX is also very affordable. The cost has allowed me to take both the beginner and advanced course for the same price as just a beginner course with fluffy competitors. AcademyX facility is very simple with no frills. Wish there were lunch places nearby, but that is a very minor inconvenience. Thanks AcademyX! read more

Awesome Advanced Illustrator class, and Jeanette is a wonderful professor who takes her time with her students, answering all questions very thoroughly. I also took the Illustrator Fundamentals class last month with Ken, and he explained everything very clearly as well.
