In 2018 I decided I wanted to change careers. Now I just had to figure out where to start. After…read moreabout a week of research and going to different Coding Schools int the Bay Area I took a break. As much as I am not a fan of Facebook I have to thank them because they showed me and Ad about NexGent's ZTE (Zero to Engineer) program. I started doing research on what a Network Engineer does and realized this was what I wanted to do. I watched an intro video on their website and submitted my info. The next day I received a call from NexGent and spoke with Matt for about an hour and signed up the same day. The program itself is amazing. Jacob and Terry did a great job putting it together. They start on a very basic level and gradually move up to more complex things. They are natural teachers. They also have a group coaching call once a month for an hour. I was able to get all of my questions answered. Fast Forward to 8 months later and I am know proud to say that with their help, I have obtained my Comptia Network + and Full CCNA (200 - 125) and I am currently working towards getting my CCNP. The school also helps you build your online presence and help you get a job. These guys really care and you can tell they love what they do! It is an understatement to say NexGent is AWESOME!!!

Though that place was…read moregreat for access to a wide variety of machines to create, alas, it is now closed forever! HUMANMADE has recreated the same concept as TechShop, but it's MUCH cleaner, organized and with even better machines. On top of that, it's in San Francisco! Other maker spaces I've been to are good at what they offer, but HumanMade is definitely in a league by itself. Everything is so new, clean, and well-maintained. The staff and volunteers are great for scheduling, advice, and people in general. For the monthly cost, it's less expensive than buying your own machines, then storing and maintaining them. Classes are offered to learn to use the machines which include: laser cutters, CNC, woodshop, Shopbot, industrial sewing, vinyl cutting, 3D printing, CAD programs, and a lot of other skills! I highly encourage creatives to check this place out.

After I was kicked out, they refused to refund my membership fee and locker fee, but continued to charge me monthly rent and locker fees until I updated my credit card. And they refused to accept all of my emails, even though they were very important to me.
