The guy was out with pneumonia but was still in contact with clients. Once he was back in the office it was full speed ahead. We had a quick deadline so he cleared his schedule to work with us. Compared to other lenders not only was he quick to respond (and remained that way throughout the process--available to chat at my convenience) but his estimates were significantly less, like by a few thousand, than other brokers. When we started the whole process, there was a preferred lender with the house we bought, and they were impatient, demanding, and they kept pressuring us to act quickly, and that caused a ton of stress. Ryan is not your typical lender. He goes above and beyond what he needs to do and makes the whole home-buying process so easy. He is kind and personable, and incredibly down to earth. We always felt like we could ask questions and when we did, he always explained things clearly and simply. Ryan turned what seemed like a stressful and overwhelming process into something that was so easy and doable. We ran into some issues with the financing, but Ryan bent over backwards to find us the best deals, and when he found the best rate, he locked us in. We did some "broker" shopping if you will and felt he was the most genuine, transparent, polite, patient, and considerate broker we found. My husband and I felt he was able professionally and successfully anticipate the next step and help us navigate potential turbulence that naturally comes in home buying process. This was our first time buying a home and we don't feel he could have had a better team assisting us through the stressful time. Scott also had really helpful videos on youtube that taught us about terms involved with home buying that a first time home buyer PROBABLY doesn't know about. I recommend these videos to everyone I meet in the category of first time buyer, or just curious to learn. The videos are clear and succinct. His team made it less intimidating and helped us sail more smoothly than I suspect could have otherwise. I don't think they tried to lie about anything but I don't think they went out of their way to explain everything. I read all 100+ pages of our loan information and there were things in there no one bothered mentioning and I wouldn't have known about had I not read them. On the other hand I don't think any other company I could have worked with would have told me any more than First Colony did. So as far as a business goes, I would consider working with them again. As far as being the best business to work with, I don't know if there is such a thing. It's business and every business is in business for one thing, money. The loan officer I worked with was professional and kind and answered all my questions promptly and professionally.

Our one critique would be that they seem to be very busy and this became apparent because often I would send a list of questions and they would only respond to the first, ignoring the three others that I had included in my email. I would use them again, but would try to limit as much of my correspondence with them to over the phone. Once we were able to get people on the phone and had their full attention they were wonderful.
