Separately, we also had the cabinets refinished so I've included phtotos of the before and after for comparison. Martin was a pleasure to work with and he was very supportive of our questions. Once we had identified a few quartzite slabs that we liked, he joined my wife to take a look at them and make sure they matched what we were looking for. He interacted with the manager of the stone store to make sure they removed the slabs from the stack so my wife could clearly see all of the slab face. We ended up picking two slabs. Communication throughout the process was very professional and he helped us manage a challenge with the size of the sink and made sure that what we purchased would work for our situation. We had one question post-install and he quickly came back to address the issue without a problem. I am stunned by how good the countertops turned out and how smooth the whole process was (even factoring in having the kitchen a mess for a while during the painting process). Our contractor stopped by as he was finishing and was blown away by how good the counters looked (and he is hard to impress). Our family of four has been hard on them, with lots of scratches and dullness, and they looked brand new, actually better than brand new. In certain light, they are so shiny, they look liquid. Hugo and his contractor brother Carlos carefully removed and replaced all fixtures so that everything could be cleaned and buffed. He had me a price within 2 hours of that and was able to come out the next day. Pick up my countercops, fabricate them, that same day and and reinstall them the next day. Our IKEA contractor artificially delayed the project, failed to install our countertops on time, and we had to cancel our prepaid agreement, leaving us without a kitchen sink for weeks. In a panic, we randomly found San Diego Stone Studio that same day. From the first call, they were a completely different class of service. The owner, Jean-Paul Mouret, is a true professional. He understood our urgency and started working on our project within 12 hours! Our beautiful countertops were fabricated and installed in just one week. The quality is excellent. Throughout the process, Jean-Paul and his team were invaluable, guiding us to select the perfect material and were always available to answer any questions. But they didn't stop there! After the countertops were in, they also helped us select the best tile for our backsplash and installed it quickly with the same top-tier quality. I was looking forward to working with JP on replacing the countertops in both my condo and my new…read morehome. He came highly recommended by my agent, who had recieved the recommendation from his tile guy. I also thought I did my due diligence by reviewing his Yelp feedback. Before the countertop work began, we needed a plumber and asked JP if he had someone. He sent his plumber. The plumber did not speak English, and while he was there we used Google Translate to bring the issues to his attention directly... but it did not work. Unfortunately, the work was unacceptable. The bathroom sink leaked immediately due to improper connections, the sink was installed crooked, the showerhead rod was damaged during installation, a screw was broken into the wall, the wrong type of sealant was used, and the handlebar popped out with minimal pressure (he used the wrong screws, only screwed in 1 instead of 3 and broke one screw in the tile wall) creating a serious safety concern. My agent and I called JP to address the situation. Before I was even able to explain the issues, he immediately stated the plumber was "not his guy," despite having sent him. The conversation quickly became unprofessional, with him yelling AT US and he ultimately hung up on us.... all his without us even stating what the issue was leading me to believe he already knew HIS GUY screwed up. I had to hire another plumber to correct the mistakes, which cost me twice as much, all after already paying JP for a shitty job. I would be very wary of working with someone who is willing to speak to a paying customer that way before even hearing their concerns. Based on this experience, I will not be moving forward with them for my countertop installation.

Despite having all of our details months ahead of time and a signed quote in place, he added $2,300 of charges 2 days before installation (with no changes requested by us). He refused to install until we agreed, and we had no choice because he had possession of our slabs and had already started cutting them, and we were on a deadline. There were many visible cracks in the countertops, and the steel supports he put in were just short prefab cement stakes secured only with a few dabs of glue (see photos). Overall bad experience. Do not recommend. Use someone with a more proven track record.
