No flavour. Papaya Salad was sweet and just watery--wrong and disappointing. Broccoli Vegetable Stirfry was tasty but it came out first and then I had to wait over 20 minutes for anything to eat it with. No rice, no noodles came that we had ordered until the Broccoli Stirfry had gotten cold. Terrible timing. Instead of coming over to ask how everything was, the owner who took our order just avoided eye contact the entire time I was waiting and not eating. The Beef Curry was watery with absolutely no developed flavours. The Singapore Vermicelli when it finally came was excellent. It was so much like I remember pre-vegan and I didn't miss the egg at all. This is a very hard dish to find anywhere vegan with the same flavour I expect so I will miss being able to have this! The Sticky Rice was good when it finally arrived. It captured the smoky banana-leaf flavour well and the rice was just sticky enough with the right amount of little bits that were sweet, nutty, salty and slightly tangy. We were ushered to a tiny table that did not fit all our food so this made for a very uncomfortable dining experience. They wrapped the spring rolls in a bag to create more space afterwards but didn't put the spring rolls in anything, just literally stuck them in a plastic bag. Disappointing.

I ordered what I think was tomatoes and bura cheese salad and broiled sea bass with green beans along with a nice Chardonnay. The tomato burata was nice, the cheese the star, and the olive oil and green onion a nice touch but the tomatoes were pretty tasteless. Definitely not in California anymore though I expected more from our Spanish friends who grow most of the tomatoes consumed in Europe. The sea bass was very, very good and highly recommended for a lighter but tasty and satisfying dinner choice. Probably 4.5 stars but not quite 5.

I've come to this place the last 2 times I've been to Paris because it has not only great service…read moreand drinks, but great food. Plus it's around the corner from the hotel I go to and the perfect way to get a good meal and drink without cramming into the usual places by the Gare De Lyon. The inside can get a bit snug but theres plenty of seating outside so enjoy the weather. The bartender has been the same guy both times and he's always an absolute delight (on top of being adorable as heck too so that's a bonus). Helped us translate our terrible french into english enough to know what we're ordering. I've had a few things here but I really love the ravioli. It's very strong so if flavor is not your thing, look away. The ravioli are tiny to where you get a few on each bite easily and the sauce is rich which fits perfectly with the cheese. If you don't like cheese, this isnt for you. They had a special last time we were there for a chicken and couscous dish and that was really good too. I've did have a steak here once and it was ay too tough but noticed if I stick with other stuff I always leave stuffed. They do have fish, salads, burgers, etc so there's a good enough variety for most. You'll end up drinking a bottle of wine so just go ahead and order it when the bartender/waiter asks.

You have the choice between three types of burgers, or bowls, or salads. There are some side dish and dessert options as well. I had the "Krispy burger" which was a home made breaded vegan patty with lettuce, mayo, and avocado on a bun. The patty was crispy and well seasoned on the outside, and soft and chewy on the inside. Unlike some vegetarian proteins, this patty was not overly salty or processed. It tasted natural and was very satisfying. The french fries were hot and delicious, and came with a spicy mayo dip. There was outdoor seating available which made the meal even more enjoyable on a beautiful Late Spring day. Season Square is a great option for vegan fast food in Paris. If you are a tourist like me, it is definitely worth taking a long walk through the city to taste this food and explore new neighbourhoods.

The waiter was kind enough to explain each special on the menu (in English). In addition, my friend was vegetarian, and the place happened to have vegetarian options (a plus!). I dived in and ordered a terrine for starters. I have no clue what kind of meat was used, but it was like pâté (thick and meaty), and studded with peppercorns. Interesting taste- not sure what to make of it. Duck confit (duck leg) for my main dish. The skin was crackling and crispy, only to be ripped apart (by yours truly) to unearth the most tender and juiciest meat my mouth has ever touched upon. But it was the profiteroles that nearly killed me. Essentially, it was an ice cream sundae wrapped in tender, flaky pastry and drenched in thick, decadent fudge. That bowled me over; after that, I was finished. Overall, L'Encrier is a solid place to try out "traditional French food," without having to bust your wallet (although it did nearly bust my gut). Especially in good company, you will have a good time.

Why then, only a 3 star rating...I'm begging to think that I don't care for French food all that much. But, the experience was wonderful and my husband bought me flowers during dinner.
