It contains several different departments, including more than one GP practice, a dentist, nurses stations, physiotherapy, and a pharmacy. There are also a number of services that travel through, including greengrocers who pitch up once a week and sell fresh produce inside the centre. The MacKinnon practice has one of the best GP appointment systems I've ever experienced, wherein you call up before 9am on the day to make an appointment for the same afternoon. In the same turn they have an open clinic until 11am every morning, so that you don't have to wait weeks to get an appointment and can pop in whenever you need. It can be a pain if you accidentally sleep past 9am and miss out on getting an appointment, but it beats waiting 4 days to get some medication for that tonsillitis or whatever is doing you in! All in all, it has been vastly improved in recent years and continues to be a good health centre for the local community.

It was refurbished slightly in 1997 when a new entrance was created and a car park facility was added in spare ground adjacent to the surgery. It is centrally located in the middle of the Baillieston area and houses a pharmacy within the building. They offer additional services such as a nurses station, money advice centre and a fruit and veg co-op to promote healthy eating. The surgery is open from Monday to Friday and has a half day on a Tuesday. They have a late surgery on Thursday evenings for non urgent appointments.

They've been on the go since 1826 and still maintain a very high standard throughout their stores. Like most family run pharmacies, they look quite fancy on the inside, but aren't any more expensive than Boots. What's more, you are more likely to find a cure for your ailment in here than having to go through 10 aisles of make-up before you get to the Allergies counter. Boots is great if it's one of the supserstores but their smaller branches are often lacking. Lindsay and Gilmour, on the other hand, thrive on their smaller sizes, so getting a prescription from here is a much more personal experience. Staff are very helpful and attentive towards the local community, which makes the experience a lot more like picking some drugs up from your local GP than a store on the main road. Local pharmacists are a dying breed, which is a shame since their knowledge of products and pharmaceuticals is often a lot sharper than you'll find on the high street.

This is my go to pharmacy for drugs. - oh.. that sounded a little too much like Heisenberg did it?…read more They are conveniently located and open from 9am to 6pm. I have my GP Practise close by in Bellevue. This means I can get my prescription slip and hand it in within 10 minutes - normally it will take about 20 -30 min when the order is ready - even though they provide chairs to wait on, I will wait a bit in a nearby bar or go for an haircut, or whatever I still need doing around Elm Row. They also have a pick up prescription service for further out Health Centers. It is an old pharmacy - well the building and interior is. This contrast a little with the clinical look you're supposed to have when running a pharmacy. I would love it if they used the space and really create an old look pharmacy. Oh well.. *sigh* They do what they do very well. The pharmaceutical assistants are knowledgeable and very friendly. The prices are reasonable and product availability is usually good. They are accessible for wheel chairs and have a consult room / area. In all a well run pharmacy.

Went here for a check up on my achey brakey heart recently…read more It was great! In and out in about 30 minutes. It has the look and feel of a hospital but is definitely more cosy than any hospital I've been in. Easily accessible by bus (I didn't check out the parking facilities) and very easy to find. I was worried I would get lost in the winding alleyways of Leith but found it without trouble (a surprisingly difficult task for someone like me!!) The staff were very efficient. I had no booking, just a doctors note. When I entered I showed the receptionists my note, they directed me to the correct place where I handed my note to a nurse. Ten minutes later I was on a bed and ten minutes later I was out again with all my questions answered, worries addressed and confirmation my heart as not about to turn on me. Everyone was friendly from start to finish and I'd have no problem returning here for a check up at any time!

I have used theraists for both therapeutic massage and acupuncture and have always had an excellent experience. Tucked away on Jackson's Close, just off the Royal Mile - you would never know it was there and as you need to buzz a door to enter it can be a little off putting. Nonetheless once you are in, it's a lovely welcoming environment and very calming. I would heartily recommend for massage and for acupuncture and based on my experiences would try out different treatments. I would advise making an appointment well in advance to make sure you get the time and date you want.

Ask any Edinburgh parent about the Sick Kids and you'll probably get a broadly similar response…read more It's an amazing resource for the city and a reminder that free access to healthcare professionals who really care is something for which we should be extremely grateful. I recently had to take my son in with an inexplicably (very) painful knee. The staff were unstintingly kind and turned what could have been quite a traumatic experience into something that bordered on fun ("I love having my bloods taken out"). We're not just talking toys in the waiting room - there was an 'art cart' loaded with fancy pens, stencils and bits to colour in and take home. Communication was superb, with both me and with Sam - he was never excluded or talked down to. He likes to know what's going on and I'm confident that the fact they involved him so much made the tests more bearable. Even beyond the treatment, staff members passing us in the waiting area often stopped to ask how we were doing and have a quick chat. The staff were extremely thorough, gave him loads of time and didn't diagnose him until they were confident they'd ruled out the more serious possibilities in several appointments over the course of a week. Obviously I hope we don't have too many return visits, but I'm confident that if we are ever back we'll get brilliant, personal care in a really sensitive, child-focused environment.

Just the basics first, you'll find everything you would expect from a normal pharmacy. While you usually wait 25 minutes for a prescription from Boots, L&G can usually dispense your medicine in less than 5...on a busy day! My favourite thing about this and all small pharmacy's, is that the staff are like mini nurses. They will take the time to talk through your symptoms and can recommend what you should buy, or even when you should see a doctor instead. They care, so I do. 5 stars.

This is a popular local pharmacy for the community it serves. They have a consultation room and are specialised in the sales of health care products. I prefer them over the general 'high street' pharmacies. Staff are friendly and very helpful. The Shop floor is at the front and the dispensing chemist at the back of the shop. They have chairs for waiting, but will give you a time you can return to pick things up. The medicine dispensing time can take a little longer on busy days and sometimes they need to put in additional orders. But this happens not that often. The building unit they occupy is very old and as I understand has always been used as a pharmacy (since Darwin's time) - It certainly has history, it is a shame they do not use that a little more within the actual shop setup. It would work very well!
