PetSmart Grooming Department Review:…read more We have a 10-month-old GSP. I've brought him in a few times in the past and have always had wonderful experiences. They told me he did amazing, and I left feeling confident and happy. Today was completely different. I booked with a groomer named Regina for a bath and brush with a nail grind add-on. We usually bathe him at home, but with the dry weather causing dandruff and a beach day full of sand, I decided to bring him in for a good cleaning. The appointment was supposed to be a 60-minute service. An hour and a half went by with no update. I called the grooming area and was told he was finishing kennel drying. I was extremely confused because I paid for the blower service. I asked if all his other services were done, and she confirmed yes -- he was just drying. I told her I would come in to get him, and I immediately felt off with the vibe on the phone. There was a little bit of pushback about me coming in while he was still drying. I paid at checkout and went back to get my dog. He was sitting there waiting. She asked if he looked good to me, and immediately I noticed a ton of shedding. I said out loud, "Wow, he must be stressed out given all this shedding," because this level of shedding only ever happens when we travel long distances. It has never happened with grooming before. It honestly looked like he wasn't brushed. She responded with, "He's definitely got GSP energy," completely straight-faced and without acknowledging what I said about him looking stressed or the excessive loose hair everywhere. As she was saying that, his back paw caught my eye. I focused on it and noticed the fur wasn't trimmed around the paw, and there was a red tint coming from his toe. I immediately knew it was blood. I looked at her and said, "Is that it?" She confirmed yes. I said thank you and walked out slightly upset with the lack of communication. I should have examined it right there, but I just wanted to get him outside because he was obviously distressed from the experience. Once I loaded him into the back of my car, I looked closer. His nail was still actively bleeding. This was over 30 minutes after the service had supposedly been completed while he was "drying." The quick was cut far back -- so far back that I could see the raw center inside of his nail. I felt awful. I trusted this groomer to take care of my dog, and that was not the case today. Nothing was said about the nail. Nothing was mentioned about how he did. No communication at all -- which is the complete opposite of every other experience I've had there. Accidents happen. I understand that. But not saying anything about it? Not acknowledging it? Letting me walk out without explaining that my dog's nail had been cut that far back and was bleeding? That is what upset me the most. The appointment ran late and was blamed on drying, but honestly it felt like they were waiting for the bleeding to stop so it would go unnoticed. I am extremely unhappy with this grooming session. I've had great experiences here before, but I do not recommend booking with Regina. The interaction felt cold, dismissive, and uncaring, and my dog left stressed and injured.

This store is a joke, especially after seeing that Facebook live from Ncbeat!! I've gone here over…read morethe years and have notice a serious decline in happiness and care of animals. Terrible advice overheard to unknowing customers when it comes to general knowledge, care and setup for most of the animals, let's push product before we push correct care procedures. The tall guy in fish when I happen to walk past always smells of cigarettes and weed, he somehow manages to be nasty with people while he asks if we need help when he doesn't even wear a company shirt, who can blame them for not wanting help from someone who looks like another customer it also doesn't make sense How can you be so nasty while high . I have pictures of birds, fish and so much more from my visits, I love the reptiles and birds so I have more pictures of them. It's a declining business and it shows by the overall care for these animals. More recently I've noticed Dirtier tanks, enclosures, cages & kennels. Not to mention the disgusting attitude from everyone. There are maybe two nice workers there, you have to be lucky when you visit to cross their paths. It's a fun place to look around without a doubt, When you're not getting shocked from metal shelves in reptiles or stray volts near fish tanks & manage to wear headphones to block out the disgusting tone from the unhappy staff. As an animal lover and collector I am continuously disappointed by the uneducated staff, lack of thoroughness with care and laziness from staff who never seem to be in their department. I remember, almost every visit talking to the little guy in reptiles and other customers always coming up to ask for help elsewhere in the store, only to see the rest of staff are up front laughing and joking. The experiences keep getting worse each visit, sadly this is the only store of its kind in jville. Take your family for a nice little indoor zoo, just do your best to not mirror their procedures when it comes to animal care.

So while on one of my many "research trips" to the Fish Cave, I met Erika (hope I spelt that right) and she was amazing. She took her time with me, walked around the store to explain things to me and really seemed to be engaged with making sure I got what I wanted. Fast forward to a couple weeks later I came back in and told her I found my perfect tank and I was ready to set it up. He response was "awesome let's do this"! Not sure who was more excited about this tank me or her! She helped me pick the right canister filter, sand and more importantly the rocks. She knew I was a hands on type of person so she told me to "pop a squat" and she brought out a box of rocks for me to situate on the floor so I can plan out my tank. This was by far one of the best shopping experiences I have ever had anywhere. Her ability to ensure I got what I needed, while also letting me be hands on and help me plan my tank was phenomenal! There were two other young ladies (one was pretty young, one had recently had a baby!!!! Congratulations!) at the registration who help me check out. Whether, it's a "research" trip, a quick serotonin lunch trip, or to buy freshwater fish for my two freshwater tanks every single time I stop in I receive top notch customer service! Thank you again Erika for dealing with my "crazy"!

When our Golden, Allie, was old and sick they took very good care of her when we had to go out of town for a funeral. They made sure she had her meds on time and took her out to exercise away from younger, jumpier dogs. After she passed away, and the grieving was not so raw, we adopted a mini schnauzer from a rescue. This dog is the exact opposite of our docile Allie. He didn't have a very good life before we got him and that left him with some issues. But the staff understands and they have helped us a lot with working through those. He goes in from grooming and Leslie always does a great job with him. She 'gets' him. When we first started taking him there, I couldn't get him out of the car. He was terrified. I went inside and Wanda came out and coaxed him out of the car. Had to do that a couple times, but now he jumps out, pees on the plants and saunters in the door like he owns the joint. I can't recommend this place highly enough!

When dropping him off I told the person at the counter not to shave him totally and the girl looked at my friends account on the computer and told me that she understood because there were notes saying how to clip him. My friend came at 4:30 to pick up her dog and was told they hadn't started working on him yet! She waited 30 minutes until they were done. When they brought him out to go home it was a real chop job, the ridges from the clipper were visible from the side it was obvious that certain areas were shaved unevenly. The hair on the head and around the ears was chopped with no attention to detail. She was shocked and spoke to the owner about how awful the job was and asked for a partial refund, at least for the tip given. The owner said she would get back to her and never did. I have clipped and shaved my own dogs at home and know I could've done a better job!
