PetSmart Grooming Department Review: We have a 10-month-old GSP. I've brought him in a few times in the past and have always had wonderful experiences. They told me he did amazing, and I left feeling confident and happy. Today was completely different. I booked with a groomer named Regina for a bath and brush with a nail grind add-on. We usually bathe him at home, but with the dry weather causing dandruff and a beach day full of sand, I decided to bring him in for a good cleaning. The appointment was supposed to be a 60-minute service. An hour and a half went by with no update. I called the grooming area and was told he was finishing kennel drying. I was extremely confused because I paid for the blower service. I asked if all his other services were done, and she confirmed yes -- he was just drying. I told her I would come in to get him, and I immediately felt off with the vibe on the phone. There was a little bit of pushback about me coming in while he was still drying. I paid at checkout and went back to get my dog. He was sitting there waiting. She asked if he looked good to me, and immediately I noticed a ton of shedding. I said out loud, "Wow, he must be stressed out given all this shedding," because this level of shedding only ever happens when we travel long distances. It has never happened with grooming before. It honestly looked like he wasn't brushed. She responded with, "He's definitely got GSP energy," completely straight-faced and without acknowledging what I said about him looking stressed or the excessive loose hair everywhere. As she was saying that, his back paw caught my eye. I focused on it and noticed the fur wasn't trimmed around the paw, and there was a red tint coming from his toe. I immediately knew it was blood. I looked at her and said, "Is that it?" She confirmed yes. I said thank you and walked out slightly upset with the lack of communication. I should have examined it right there, but I just wanted to get him outside because he was obviously distressed from the experience. Once I loaded him into the back of my car, I looked closer. His nail was still actively bleeding. This was over 30 minutes after the service had supposedly been completed while he was "drying." The quick was cut far back -- so far back that I could see the raw center inside of his nail. I felt awful. I trusted this groomer to take care of my dog, and that was not the case today. Nothing was said about the nail. Nothing was mentioned about how he did. No communication at all -- which is the complete opposite of every other experience I've had there. Accidents happen. I understand that. But not saying anything about it? Not acknowledging it? Letting me walk out without explaining that my dog's nail had been cut that far back and was bleeding? That is what upset me the most. The appointment ran late and was blamed on drying, but honestly it felt like they were waiting for the bleeding to stop so it would go unnoticed. I am extremely unhappy with this grooming session. I've had great experiences here before, but I do not recommend booking with Regina. The interaction felt cold, dismissive, and uncaring, and my dog left stressed and injured. read more

so I've never had grooming done on my dog and never needed it but I called up and asked if walk-ins were available. I was told yes. I said my dog has really long nails and I need to bring her in because I'm at this point where I just can't cut them. My dog doesn't like the clippers anymore and won't sit still. The lady then proceeds to tell me that what they're there for and blah blah blah and I said OK I'll come in I gotta grab her and then I'll be there. So im only 15 minutes away but then I have to go through traffic, go home grab my dog and then come back and it's just under around an hour later with traffic and everything. I go in. I start giving her my information for her new customer. I'm then asked if I had rabies paperwork. I said what and I honestly have no idea where it is but I should've grabbed her collar on the way out the door but then again I didn't think I'd need it. Then was told we don't accept that and I said wait the rabies collar with the date and number on it, you don't accept that she said yes we only accept paperwork. I didn't know that and Nobody on the phone told me I did as a new customer that I needed to bring that paperwork I don't know anything about this. You would've thought that somebody would've said something to me when I was calling discussing that I was a new customer wanting to come in as a walk-in. She then tells me no it's a requirement and I said that's fumy no one told me on the phone that. If I would've known, I would've tried to find the paperwork, but hopefully maybe came in in time before you guys closed and it would've taken me some time to find it. Meanwhile, it's at least a couple years old. Not sure exactly how old of a rabies shot is needed anyways, and they still never told me. So I had to walk away with a dog that will not let me cut her nails after being told they would take me in. Point is if you have a new customer communicate with them on the phone that is a requirement and they need to bring it in if they are a new customer if they were pre-existing customer it just has to be updated or whatever not sure if this is the policy, but this is generally what I got from this short conversation I had. Point is, don't tell people to come in and not tell them what is required to come in. read more

We are visiting NC from California for a dear friend's funeral. Our Giant Schnauzer was in need of grooming, so we called PetSmart in Jacksonville, NC, to book the earliest available appointment, which was three days out at 8:00am. Our hotel was forty-five minutes away in Emerald Isle. After a long drive, we were shocked to hear that PetSmart refused to groom our dog because his rabies vaccination certificate had an expiration date of TODAY, April 7th, 2024. I asked to speak to the manager and explained that the certificate was valid THROUGH April 7th, which did not end until midnight, a full 16 hours from now! We drove a very long way and were hoping that the manager, Ms. Ash, would accurately interpret the expiration date and realize that our certificate was absolutely valid until THE END OF THAT DAY. Ashe had no ability to understand the simple facts and was incredibly rude and dismissive. No regard for our time. No concern for the inconvenience she was causing us. Both she and the other staff member we encountered were incredibly rude and short. I tried to explain that we had made the appointment several days ago and had traveled very far to be there on time. We checked the certificate upon booking and realized we just barely made the cut-off, but we never expected such rude treatment and blatant misinterpretation of the expiration. Ms. Ashe and her colleague should both be fired immediately in my opinion. This was the worst example of customer service and professionalism I have ever experienced. PetSmart needs to try much harder to hire people intelligent enough to know what "Good THROUGH" a certain date means and how to treat well-meaning consumers who work hard for their money. I will never spend another penny with PetSmart, and I will share this post via every social media outlet I have access to in order that I might save others from similar unpleasant encounters with Ms Ashe and the ignorant PetSmart management. read more

She walked us through what we needed from aquarium size for the amount of fish we wanted, types of fish food, cleaning the tank, types of plants for the tank and so much more. Do not buy guinea pigs from this store. A few months ago I purchased a guinea pig from this store, 5 days later I'm bringing it back in because it didn't look right. Turns out that it had ringworm. My daughters and I have been fighting this ringworm infection for over 7 weeks now!!! We've been to multiple doctors and are all currently taking oral antifungal medication as well as using topical cream. My dog is also on antifungal medication and I am bathing him every few days with antifungal shampoo. All of this because they sold us a guinea pig with ringworm!!!! I didn't even know animals could get this infection and this is my first time ever dealing with it. I'm so frustrated and it has been an extremely expensive issue to get rid of. Just putting out a warning for other families so you don't go through the same. read more

My overall experience here was exemplary. I will explain shortly why the location is not receiving five stars. My friends and I went in so our dogs could take pictures with Santa... One of my two dogs is absurdly huge. He is a Newfoundland and is afraid of walking on the floor that is slick. We put him in a cart and no one batted an eye as we strolled a hundred pound dog through the store :-) when we went to take the picture with Santa all of the employees were sweet and very helpful. Santa even said he could sit on his lap. That did not happen! We did not want to crush Santa. After I picture I decided to stop in to the grooming area to see if they would give him a bath, cut his hair and nails. They decided to fit him in. The last time we were here we paid for the Furminator shampoo as an add-on. He had a severe reaction. They said they would not use that again and offered a hypoallergenic option. We decided to go with that. The employee shared with me that it would take 3 to 4 hours. So I made plans to do something else. His cut ended up taking less than an hour! Amazing! When I got back I decided to use a coupon that popped up when I checked in at PetSmart using the Yelp app. The cashier said she had never seen it before and was very skeptical. She called another young woman over that was honestly the first employee that I encountered that day that seemed really unhappy to be there. She said there was nothing she could do because there wasn't a barcode. I asked if she was sure and she said yes and walked away (no other words). I wasn't going to push the topic because there were a few people behind me in line and only one person checking people out. I happily paid and went to get my beautiful boy. They honestly did a really good job with him. The ladies grooming the dogs we were very kind to the animals and seem to love what they were doing. The girls working with Santa were really sweet as well. My only negative experience was at checkout. With that being said, I would still recommend the store two other people. read more

I bring my Murphy here for grooming and I can't be happier with the love and care they give him . He comes in looking a hot mess sometimes with his stinky butt self, but they always make sure when he leaves he's GQ The prices are within reason and location is perfect. You can use the app or call to make an appointment I personally chose to call when I make appointments. Each of the professional groomers are very knowledgeable and par on when it comes to the different shampoos and conditioners that is good for your pets skin and coat. There's one I'd like to suggest and that's the oatmeal bath that's so good for your pets skin and coat or so it's very good on a murphys. The hours are excellent and if you are a little early no worries they take your pet right on in. I love that I don't have to worry when I leave him because he's in good hands! A lot of places are a bit shady so this is the best option for me and I hope it will be the best option for you! Also , they do have coupons that come in the mail for grooming such as pet baths and treatments. So always be on the look out for them! read more

Just wanted everyone to know never take your pet there .My dog had a grooming appointment because he was matted and need a haircut because I have a auto immune so could not take him with covid. They refused to take my little Yorshire terrier said they did not feel comfortable cutting his hair because he was matted. To my knowledge is this not their job. we drove 30 mins away just for them to say we cant his hair we need to take him somewhere else. I have been bringing my dog to get groomed here for the last 6 months and they always pass my expectations but the last time I got her groomed, it was all kind of messed up. I'm beyond disappointed and never bringing her here again. They left her with a bald spot on the back of her head, uneven cuts on her face, chest, on her tummy and didn't trim/file those dew claws. read more

Do you know that weird funky smell that usually is in every pets store? Well that smell is nonexistent at this store. The store is spotless and the staff is really helpful. There is no vet at this location but there is grooming services. You can get all your pets foods and toys at this location. My wife actually travels across town just to shop at this store. read more

Very clean, great costumer service! My dog attends the puppy class there and is learning so much. There trainer there, amber I believe, is awesome!! She's great with the dogs and is very thorough in her classes. I feel like I have learned alot about traing my dog properly and we have both been having lots of fun in class! We will defanitly be continuing with some advanced class in the future hopefuly with the same trainer. The store set up is different and can be a little hard to navagate, but the staff is always quick to offer assistance. read more

They are friendly and know how to do their job. The store is clean well organized HOWEVER because they are a small store they have a much smaller selection that the petsmart over in western. They do not carry any treats that are poultry free. read more

I took my dog here for the third time to get washed and groomed and a nail grind . The first time was just a nail grind and there was no issue the 2nd was a total wash ect in which they didn't actually wash my dog or do anal gland expressions or ear cleaning . I picked him up this time after 10 mins and they basically sprayed him with water and told me to come get him that he was too hyper , my dog is a 3,000 dollar expensive breed that cannot be left wet , his ears were filthy his feet pads were not trimmed and neither was his nails . I wasn't paying for service not rendered! Took him to Wagtime straight after and they said he was a joy and grinder his nails down perfectly . My poor dog left PetSmart soaking wet and not taken care of . I'm never going to them here in Jacksonville again , unfortunate because he's been seen at PetSmart in Hawaii since he was 8 weeks old . Our Tucker is not the easiest client for the wonderful staff at PetSmart on Yopp Rd in Jacksonville. However, these​ wonderful pet lovers​ have truly taken really good care of our beloved boy. He had TECA surgery on the right ear at the beginning of February and is now extremely nervous due to his fear and the ongoing pain in his left ear now. Joyfilled Jennifer is his friend and she does an exemplary job with this American​ Cocker Spaniel nutty coat. I picked him up on 03-01-18 and he looked and smelled amazing! Darling Dawn is also a favorite of Tucker's​. I sincerely anyone that has the patience with Tucker to complete​​e the task and have him coming out looking and feeling like a million $!! This store and grooming area always smells like any other store (no pet smells at all). It is kept immaculate and the floor personnel all go about their tasks in a kind and professional manner.
