We are visiting NC from California for a dear friend's funeral. Our Giant Schnauzer was in need of grooming, so we called PetSmart in Jacksonville, NC, to book the earliest available appointment, which was three days out at 8:00am. Our hotel was forty-five minutes away in Emerald Isle. After a long drive, we were shocked to hear that PetSmart refused to groom our dog because his rabies vaccination certificate had an expiration date of TODAY, April 7th, 2024. I asked to speak to the manager and explained that the certificate was valid THROUGH April 7th, which did not end until midnight, a full 16 hours from now! We drove a very long way and were hoping that the manager, Ms. Ash, would accurately interpret the expiration date and realize that our certificate was absolutely valid until THE END OF THAT DAY. Ashe had no ability to understand the simple facts and was incredibly rude and dismissive. No regard for our time. No concern for the inconvenience she was causing us. Both she and the other staff member we encountered were incredibly rude and short. I tried to explain that we had made the appointment several days ago and had traveled very far to be there on time. We checked the certificate upon booking and realized we just barely made the cut-off, but we never expected such rude treatment and blatant misinterpretation of the expiration. Ms. Ashe and her colleague should both be fired immediately in my opinion. This was the worst example of customer service and professionalism I have ever experienced. PetSmart needs to try much harder to hire people intelligent enough to know what "Good THROUGH" a certain date means and how to treat well-meaning consumers who work hard for their money. I will never spend another penny with PetSmart, and I will share this post via every social media outlet I have access to in order that I might save others from similar unpleasant encounters with Ms Ashe and the ignorant PetSmart management.

This is my handsome boy after his groom

Allison in the grooming department is awesome,I've been taking my dogs there for 6-8 months and never had a problem. Allison did such a great job and definitely will be booking all my dogs with her .

Do not buy guinea pigs from this store. A few months ago I purchased a guinea pig from this store, 5 days later I'm bringing it back in because it didn't look right. Turns out that it had ringworm. My daughters and I have been fighting this ringworm infection for over 7 weeks now!!! We've been to multiple doctors and are all currently taking oral antifungal medication as well as using topical cream. My dog is also on antifungal medication and I am bathing him every few days with antifungal shampoo. All of this because they sold us a guinea pig with ringworm!!!! I didn't even know animals could get this infection and this is my first time ever dealing with it. I'm so frustrated and it has been an extremely expensive issue to get rid of. Just putting out a warning for other families so you don't go through the same.

My overall experience here was exemplary. I will explain shortly why the location is not receiving five stars. My friends and I went in so our dogs could take pictures with Santa... One of my two dogs is absurdly huge. He is a Newfoundland and is afraid of walking on the floor that is slick. We put him in a cart and no one batted an eye as we strolled a hundred pound dog through the store :-) when we went to take the picture with Santa all of the employees were sweet and very helpful. Santa even said he could sit on his lap. That did not happen! We did not want to crush Santa. After I picture I decided to stop in to the grooming area to see if they would give him a bath, cut his hair and nails. They decided to fit him in. The last time we were here we paid for the Furminator shampoo as an add-on. He had a severe reaction. They said they would not use that again and offered a hypoallergenic option. We decided to go with that. The employee shared with me that it would take 3 to 4 hours. So I made plans to do something else. His cut ended up taking less than an hour! Amazing! When I got back I decided to use a coupon that popped up when I checked in at PetSmart using the Yelp app. The cashier said she had never seen it before and was very skeptical. She called another young woman over that was honestly the first employee that I encountered that day that seemed really unhappy to be there. She said there was nothing she could do because there wasn't a barcode. I asked if she was sure and she said yes and walked away (no other words). I wasn't going to push the topic because there were a few people behind me in line and only one person checking people out. I happily paid and went to get my beautiful boy. They honestly did a really good job with him. The ladies grooming the dogs we were very kind to the animals and seem to love what they were doing. The girls working with Santa were really sweet as well. My only negative experience was at checkout. With that being said, I would still recommend the store two other people.

I have been bringing my dog to get groomed here for the last 6 months and they always pass my expectations but the last time I got her groomed, it was all kind of messed up. I'm beyond disappointed and never bringing her here again. They left her with a bald spot on the back of her head, uneven cuts on her face, chest, on her tummy and didn't trim/file those dew claws.

We took our Puppy to the groomers here for the first time. He is scared of everything and shy, they did really well and made him feel comfortable. They were very professional and did their job well!! We will be making these groomers our permanent one.

Kristi in the grooming department is amazing. She blew me away with the style she did with my white Pekinese. A+ . Definitely recommend her and the staff at the Yopp Rd Petsmart.

We did the private, one on one training sessions with Jerica to learn focus, sit, down, stay, come, loose leash walking leave it, and door manners. Jerica is a great trainer who is very patient and responds to emails quickly. Each training session consisted of 40 minutes talking and 20 minutes of actual training. You need to be consistent and work with your dog at home. If you're looking for a place to actually work with your dog, this is not for you. Camp Mutt trains the owner and not your dog. The only reason I knocked off one star is their training methods doesn't work for every dog. I was told by the owner, my puppy would be walking on a collar by the end of the session. However, that was not the case. They sold me a prong collar for excessive pulling. I was also told they offer socialization in which we never met another puppy at Camp Mutt. I did everything exactly how I was told and my puppy simply did not pick up some skills. I strongly suggest taking your puppy to Ridgeside K9 Carolinas for their $10 socialization puppy classes. This is the moment where my puppy started being more obedient and calm. Ridgeside also worked with my dog and gave me correction advice when leash walking wasn't working at Camp Mutt. My puppy wasn't perfect after all the training which was a little disappointing. He's still very much a work in progress but there's only so much you can learn in a short amount of time. I wish they offered some program for post training support instead of emailing. If given the option to redo training, I'd much rather go to Ridgeside. A suggestion for Camp Mutt is to teach the "place" command during the 40 minutes of talking each session. It's a highly valuable skills that I was surprised it wasn't taught.

From my first conversation, this decision was never met with an issue in our communications which was my reason for moving forward with training my pup with this fabulous duo. There was great communication, and lots of post regarding my Odin's progress between in person visits. My wants in training were clearly defined, discussed and implemented over his in-stay with the facility. I had some reservations with my tiny 3lb spoiled puppy with his paw lotion, eye wipes and holiday themed attire amongst giant working dogs at first; but it was shortly deemed irrelevant as he decided he was just a big dog in disguise disputing my attempts otherwise lol! I am very grateful for the leadership, knowledge and help WCDT has given myself and my pup. Taking on a new puppy was not part of my 2025, and I am very appreciative of the advice and knowledge extended with the program offered. (As well as the minor therapist sessions in listening to me talk about my dog that had recently passed; I appreciate that more than I can express.) I would 100% recommend!

I was referred to Wild Child from our local PetSmart. I inquired through email for their Stay and Train program as I wanted my dog to be boarded but also not forget his training or pick up bad habits. My dog stayed here for 5 days. I obsessively stalked their Instagram for updates as they post cute videos of my dog once a day. I can tell he was well taken care of and so happy to be there. Upon pickup, I felt like my dog was a new boy! They worked on him with door manners and he doesn't bolt out the door. My other concern was jumping on people. We passed by a man and my dog actually sat down right in front of him and got lots of pets! I was so impressed!! My dog also seemed more relaxed. He was a hyper furball who needed to be up and running 24/7 before I dropped him off at Wild Child. Now he's okay with laying down and chilling. He is also fine with taking naps in his crate now! He used to bark for hours on end when I crate him during the day. I can't wait to take him back. My dog seemed very sad to leave this facility and I'm sure he would be so thrilled to return. Thank you for taking great care of my furbaby.

Take constructive criticism and dominate your area of expertise instead of throwing a public fit in an attempt to discredit the problem. ‍ Took my dogs here for extended stay training. NEVER AGAIN. I was blessed that the hurricane caused me to come get my dogs early. My girl had lost 13 pounds (she's regularly 90 pounds lean)and my boy 24 (regularly 160). Both dogs ribs and spines were exposed. They were gaunt and sickly looking. It broke my heart to feel how tiny my big dogs were. I immediately took them to the vet who was concerned for their hydration levels and weightloss. She mentioned "dogs tend to lose weight while they are here because of all the training." Complete B_LL SH!T. My dogs are bread to work. They move miles a day. She'd have to march them nonstop to explain that weight loss. STRIKE F_CKING ONE. Samantha is very responsive to emails and calls until your dogs are under her care. SHE IGNORES CALLS,TEXTS, AND EMAILS and only provides information she feels is necessary, she doesn't answer your questions. STRIKE TWO My two dogs were healthy. They walked 4+ miles a day and were very athletic when I dropped them off. They also go through (together 150 pounds of dog food a month plus 6 pounds of chicken treats, 12 twelve inch bulley sticks, and a two pound bag of duck jerkey) a healthy amount of food every month. I dropped of 75 pounds of dog food and the treats. I asked Samantha repeatedly 3-4 weeks in if the dogs were out of food. She ignored me. I sent them with half the food they needed and planned of shipping the rest direct from amazon. She never answered me. I've never been so scared for the well being of my children before. What an unbelievable nightmare. Chief and Reagan have a special diet. One of the things she put on the list was Vienna sausages. We do not feed our dogs canned food or processed anything. Raw food, whole food, or limited ingredient dog food because they are both sensitive in the tummy one throws up and the other loose leaky bowels. When they eat normal food they are perfectly healthy. She posted pictures of my girl taking a Vienna sausage as a treat. You can not trust her. STRIKE THREE My boy, who I have handled since he was 8 weeks old was afraid to take treats from my hands when I got him back. STRIKE FOUR Both dogs are long haired, inside dogs and not made for heat. She keeps the dogs krated in her garage. Do we even think it's climate controlled? Every time I think about this it makes me ill. STRIKE FIVE She needs to be put out of business. FOOD DEPRIVATION TO FORCE A BOND AND TO GAIN CONTROL has a purpose but not for an extended period of time and with weight loss like this clearly it goes on indefinitely. STRIKE SIX And it is never ok to hit a dog especially in the face (deny it all you want there is no other reason for this behavioral change) My boy wouldn't even look my in the face. No hand feeding of treats and he was skin and bones. STRIKE SEVEN They absolutely were not taken care of and those dogs were krated the majority of the time. They had sores on their underbellies from laying. STRIKE EIGHT WAIT.... She's been out for a while now. I would NEVER, EVER trust a living creature to this woman or her business. She violated our contract not keeping our dogs healthy or caring for them appropriately. We did not finish out the remaining 4 weeks.

Course Training was fun and inexpensive. Cons: Dirt road entrance is wonky. Overview: We took two of our dogs here (pit and a lab) because they were not getting along, they got in a bad fight that resulted in taking one of them to the vet for her injuries. Now, they PLAY together, which they have never really done in the year they've known eachother, they would just deal with eachother and get in occasional fights that were pretty scary. We've seen a big improvement since starting with Casper. So overall, I'm surprised by the negative reviews, because Casper is amazing. He's extremely knowledgeable on behavior modification in dogs and he is actually passionate about it. Not only that, but you feel like he's ACTUALLY trying to help you and your dog. You can contact him basically 24/7 with questions, and during classes he doesn't stop once the time is up, he will help you until it's done right. So if you're looking for quick in and out, then Unleashed isn't for you. If you're looking to actually help your dog and learn how to make you and your dog's life better, then you're at the right place. Classes at Unleashed do run over time a lot, but it's because he wants you to learn and he wants it done right so that your dog will ACTUALLY succeed. The group classes are inexpensive. Plus, Casper makes YouTube videos of a wide range of different trainings that are helpful. For a further in depth breakdown, keep reading! Background info: We sought out help with two of our dogs, a black lab and a pittie, because they had gotten in a bad fight where our pittie was hurt. First we tried starting with Camp Mutt, but they priced us at over a thousand per dog for their 6 week basic obedience training, once a week classes. Feeling overwhelmed and doomed financially, we reached out to Casper for a second opinion. He came to our house for an in-home consultation, met our dogs in their natural environment, and discussed our goals and pointed out things he saw just being there in our house watching them. He showed us some training techniques, provided advice, and answered our questions. He really put us at ease and explained everything so thoroughly. He assured us that he can help us and provided us with reasons why our dogs are behaving the way they are. He also informed us that we don't need to do one on one training, which saves us a lot of money. He advised we start going to his group training sessions that occur once a week, so our dogs can socialize and build on their basic obedience skills. We paid $150 per dog for the 6 week course, and it was so worth it, I'm honestly amazed at how great our dogs are doing now. 6 Week Course: Once a week we came to class at the designated time. I'd describe his classes as college seminars or presentations, but with hands on learning techniques. He talks a lot about the material we're learning that day, why it's important, what not to do, etc. and then he walks us through the technique. We work with the dog on our own, and he provides feedback or advice while we're training. For the trainings, Casper uses a Martingale collar, it is made of fabric and chain, and the chain can tighten for "corrections," which Casper will show you how to properly execute. It does not harm the dog, it is meant to get their attention and tell them they're doing something wrong. The collar has no prongs or other harmful aspects, so if used correctly as Casper shows you, there is zero harm to your dog. Casper also allows for the optional use of shock collars. He had us test the shock collar on ourselves, to which you will feel that there is also zero harm done to the dog as well. On the highest setting, it feels like the fake gum gag toy, where you pull the "gum" and it shocks you. It doesn't hurt. If either of these methods make you uncomfortable, I recommend just asking questions, talk to Casper, shadow a class, watch his videos, do some research. Exam: Scary word, but the exam is not that bad. Casper describes the training and classes we go through as college level, whereas we test on a kindergarten level. SO as long as you keep up with the course and train with your dog at home here and there throughout the week, you should be golden. Location: the location is a little odd, beware that the road is a little wonky and the location is not a typical business location. The classes are held in a pavilion across from his house. The road to get in has a lot of dips that fill with water when it rains, so definitely be careful driving through there. We drive a small 4 door sedan and we were okay every time, so it's not a big deal. Feel free to reach out if you have any other questions about my experience. Our doggos officially graduated today from their Basic Obedience Training! We'll be taking the Advanced Training next.
