Such an incredible facility with an amazing staff. We won't use any other kennel again. They explain everything and provide a tour of the facility. They have an incredible training reputation as evidenced with all the awards on the walls in the office. The website provides a historical overview of the training they've done. Highly recommend this place to take care of your dogs. They took great care of ours.

He came with some bad habits especially while on the leash. Our Veterinarian recommended Bill Mattis at River Ridge Kennels. After we talked to Bill on the phone we enrolled Teddy in the six week obedience training course. And what a blessing! We found their prices very reasonable and the training was excellent. There were six dogs in our class and each dog had their own set of issues and personalities. The love, respect and compassion Bill showed our pets was nothing short of amazing. Well, Teddy passed with flying colors and my wife and I did as well. Bill and staff come with many years of experience and I can't give enough praise to Bill as he is the consummate professional when it comes to training dogs AND their owners. They went above and beyond to accommodate me and my Kingston. And they updated me with pictures and comments every single day as to his comfort and well-being. Sadly , Kingston passed away just a month after that, and when I called them and notified them that I would have to cancel this Thanksgiving boarding appointment, they were most empathetic and loving. And then today I got a package with the rainbow bridge story as well as a beautiful card with everyone who attended to Kingston, just that one week , with memories and signatures. Though expensive, we have had nothing but good experiences keeping our dogs with them until most recently. One of our dogs, a very social and well behaved West Highland terrier, was banned from spending any time with other dogs on the 2nd day of a 7-day stay after bitting another dog. He spent 6 out of the 7 days of our trip either in the kennel or, for some reason, the hallway outside the kennel while our other dog was in the kennel--a very strange decision given that he's great with our other dog. Why not have them in the same space? Though my Westie has never shown signs of violence or aggressiveness before, I realize the need for them to be careful and protect the other dogs, but no one at American Pet Resort contacted us to tell us what had occurred. We learned after looking at the online cameras. There we saw our Westie confined to his kennel while all the other dogs, including our second dog, were playing outside. Why didn't someone from the kennel call us to let us know? That kind of proactive communication is something I expect. I was none too pleased to find out what happened only after having to make a call to find out why our Westie was left alone in his kennel during outside time. While away, I made a call suggesting the staff place my Westie and my second dog in a separate outdoor space with one another. The staff member I spoke to said they would do so, but they only did so once. Our Westie spent the next 5 days out of our 7 day trip in either in his kennel or the hallway (?) just outside of the kennel, and has been banned from outdoor play with other dogs during future visits. We will make sure that there will be no future visits.

When our Golden, Allie, was old and sick they took very good care of her when we had to go out of town for a funeral. They made sure she had her meds on time and took her out to exercise away from younger, jumpier dogs. After she passed away, and the grieving was not so raw, we adopted a mini schnauzer from a rescue. This dog is the exact opposite of our docile Allie. He didn't have a very good life before we got him and that left him with some issues. But the staff understands and they have helped us a lot with working through those. He goes in from grooming and Leslie always does a great job with him. She 'gets' him. When we first started taking him there, I couldn't get him out of the car. He was terrified. I went inside and Wanda came out and coaxed him out of the car. Had to do that a couple times, but now he jumps out, pees on the plants and saunters in the door like he owns the joint. When dropping him off I told the person at the counter not to shave him totally and the girl looked at my friends account on the computer and told me that she understood because there were notes saying how to clip him. My friend came at 4:30 to pick up her dog and was told they hadn't started working on him yet! She waited 30 minutes until they were done. When they brought him out to go home it was a real chop job, the ridges from the clipper were visible from the side it was obvious that certain areas were shaved unevenly. The hair on the head and around the ears was chopped with no attention to detail. She was shocked and spoke to the owner about how awful the job was and asked for a partial refund, at least for the tip given. The owner said she would get back to her and never did. I have clipped and shaved my own dogs at home and know I could've done a better job!

Just decided to show up and I got a rude response that I should've made an appointment. They were very condescending in their tone. Some aren't so great, so you get what you pay for... SALTY PAWS is the best of all the worlds! Their prices are affordable, especially with everything included, AND they also take amazing care of my dogs. Seriously, every time they stay, they're so happy and well cared for when I picked them up. They are always clearly exhausted from playing all the time, and each time we go back, they run to the staff to give them love and head right back to the back. We've since moved from Sneads Ferry closer to Jacksonville, and I wouldn't even consider taking them somewhere else when we vacation. I'd drive an hour if I had to, just so I have piece of mind that they're in good hands while we're gone. p.s. I have a lab and a shiba inu. Everyone loves the lab, but very few people have ever really liked our shiba... except the staff at Salty Paws. Our little "cat dog" has actually made friends there. It's a miracle :)

My lab has major separation anxiety and my shepherd is very dog reactive to anyone who isn't her brother. So you can imagine how sick to my stomach I was to leave them behind, let alone with a stranger in a strange place. I was worried they'd feel abandoned. Would they care for my babies the way I do at home? Are they out for my money expensive? Where do I even take them? Cue my friends referral to Buddies! Great staff treats my dogs like family More than fair pricing multiple locations within the area daily photo updates of my dogs on FB expectations exceeded! I was able to watch my dogs have an absolute blast with the staff at buddies throught their pixtures on Facebook! Running around, playing! Not cowering in fear or aggression like I was worried about. When we came back to pick them up, they slept the whole drive home! It was like they were at "kids camp" and were all tuckered out! Thank you Buddies! We'll definitely be back and my dogs can't wait!

Not only was the staff friendly and knowledgeable they were also compassionate about my concerns. They took the best care of her while she stayed. When I picked her up she had no anxiety no shedding as she usually does being away from us. You could tell they love our babies. I would recommend them for boarding and the full bath. My dog coat is still so soft from it and as dog owners you know it's hard to find someone who does nails properly but they hit it out the park for us. I give them 100/10 stars if I could.
