The people working there obviously are devoted to the residents and will patiently show you around and let you interact with potential friends. No hurry or rush so you can just relax and see what happens. Valley Shore survives mainly on contributions and fund raising and has found families for a large number of residents so if you are looking for that special friend to share your life this might be a great place to look.

It's a gorgeous spot, with plenty of animals to see and engage with, and if you're not careful, you may get a pig who smears mud all over your butt. That's really part of the charm though, and mud washes off. The folks that own and work here are super nice in my experience (shout out to the director who had the exact same shoes as my four year old - in a different size). They make it a fun and educational experience for everyone, but especially little kids. As a general warning though, they make a harder push for veganism than you might expect coming in, so if that sort of pressure isn't your thing, you may want to avoid the walking tours.

They do not value the dogs finding a forever home like they claim. When I had the meet and greet with the dog, I picked out which was a Siberian Husky Mix, I even told them that I already went shopping for the dog's necessities. Their staff also is unprofessional and has poor response time as I waited a week to hear back from a staff member after I had already been there and contacted them on various occasions regarding my application in which I had to leave a voicemail even during their regular business hours.
