I do recommend this place for adoption. First off the staff here are all extremely caring and dedicated to these animals. They see a lot of situations that most couldn't handle to save these dogs. Thank You. I adopted my pup October 19, 2024. Trust the process it is all worth it in the end to have a fur baby. Thank You for all of the rescues you have done.

Little room to interact with dogs!

He seems to be a ladies man. They did some labs ok. Explained everything very clearly. I am a nurse but kitties. As he is intact between seizures my vet and I are doing pheobarb pills. On a Sunday night after he experienced what appeared to be a syncopal episode, we contacted the hospital for emergency guidance. We were informed by staff that the only doctor on duty was in surgery and that there was no veterinarian immediately available to evaluate him. We were advised not to bring him in. The interaction with the receptionist was also notably lacking in empathy or urgency, which was especially distressing given the seriousness of the situation. For a facility that represents itself as a 24-hour emergency hospital, this was deeply concerning. If an urgent patient cannot be evaluated because the only doctor is unavailable, that reflects a significant gap in emergency coverage. This was not an isolated issue, as we had experienced ongoing communication and responsiveness concerns over time. After years as clients, and following my dog's passing, we did not receive any acknowledgment from the hospital. He was family. We expected urgency, compassion, and accountability. For these reasons, we have transferred our pets' care elsewhere.

This is the best Animal Hospital around! I have been there several times over the last few months…read morewith my new puppy! They treat my Theo like Family. He has seen all 3 Doctors , all amazing. VCA East Hartford likes to make a determination on what to tell you regarding your pet's health…read morebased on if they think you can afford services or not. I've had my cat here for a few years and take her in yearly for skin allergies. I brought her in recently due to a behavioral issue. They gave her a lukewarm physical, said there was nothing wrong with her and then sent me home (because they assumed I couldn't pay for tests). This necessitated me reaching out to them for medication because my cat had an issue with allergies in her ear. I come in to pick it up. The vet tech who literally saw my cat the day before, looked at me, and kept walking (she's rude to boot). Now a few months later when her skin issue returns (since they didn't really address it at her appointment), I look at her records and realize that they gave her a diagnosis of chronic dental disease. Yet they never spoke to me about this at her appointment. Didn't bring it up, didn't tell me what I should be doing to reverse this, zip, nada. And again, because they assumed I couldn't afford services based on the beat up car I drive (because my car runs fine and I'd rather spend money on things I need than cosmetic issues on a car), they told me nothing and this went unaddressed for more than 30 days. The most egregious thing was that they also did this when I brought my senior dog about a year and a half ago. They kept asking me if my dog was "an old 13" and were trying to get me to put him down because he had urinary issue. $1600 surgery later (which I gladly paid) and even with the surgery gave him a prognosis stating that he would most likely past at the end of 2025. Well, we're about close to mid-way 2026 and my dog is fine other than being a 15 year old senior dog. All because they assumed I wouldn't be able to afford a surgery. All this to say that if you're coming here, make sure you drive a brand spanking new car, come dressed to the nines, probably be white (as I'm not), and you'll be A-Okay. If you don't, they won't give you all the relevant medical information for your pets based on their classist preconceptions.
