We recently adopted the sweetest little Shepard/Lab (Kat, now Charlotte), they went it to Iowa and rescued Charlotte and her sister from a breeder who was going to put them down. I adopted a puppy from Save All Dogs Rescue. They told me she had kennel cough but that I could pay the adoption fee and leave her there while she was treated for the cough. The vet only comes on Tuesdays so I waited and was told she was not cleared to come home. This happened three more times, so I had paid for a puppy but didn't get to bring her home for an entire month. She was finally cleared by their vet so I brought her home. She was still coughing. After a week I called my own vet who was able to see her quickly. They said she had pneumonia and I needed to bring her to the Emergency Vet right away. The ER vet told me if I hadn't brought her in she would have likely died. I know someone else who adopted a puppy from them and their puppy also had kennel cough which ended up with pneumonia. In my opinion Save All Dogs rescue is nothing but a puppy mill. They charge an exorbitant fee for puppies that aren't spayed/neutered or even healthy. They just want your money and have vets that will sign off saying the pups are healthy when in fact they are not. If you are going to get a puppy please do not go here. It'll end up costing you thousands in addition to the adoption fee. Go to a local shelter or legitimate rescue that adopts healthy puppies. read more

My husband and I lost our old English mastiff a few weeks ago and wanted to get a puppy from a rescue. After searching many places, I found SADR had 3 Great Dane mixes available. Long story short, we picked up out our new pup on Thursday evening and on Sunday morning we had to euthanize him because he was too sick from pneumonia, Giardia, dehydration, and malnutrition. So in the same month we lost Bo, we adopted, fell in love with, and accumulated a huge vet bill, just to have our sweet puppy die. Do not "adopt" from here. We went to a Save All Dogs adoption event earlier this spring. We fell in love with a sweet pup that had some kind of upper respiratory infection. Because the pup was ill and in spite of the fact that we paid the fairly steep adoption fee at the event, they brought in "foster to adopt" paperwork that limited our ability to take our pup (Technically their pup according to the foster agreement which might not stand up in court since money had changed hands.) to our chosen or any other veterinarian (which would void the agreement even in an emergency) and we were to bring the pup back every week for their weekly veterinarian visit at the adoption kennel. These were very opaque vet visits. They took the animal from us while we all (other folks with sick animals) waited outside on the sidewalk with no way to speak with the vet or share our concerns one of which was our pup wasn't responding to the medication that we were given and additionally that the pup had persistent diarrhea which they assured us was the result of the antibiotic medication. They withheld any medical/shot records until they officially released the pup to us in the final adoption multiple weeks and two medications for rhinitis later. The only suggestion for diarrhea was probiotics to replace gut flora which we were already doing. In the meanwhile we had no idea whether the pup had been dewormed, had any of their shots, or what else might be going on with her health so fortunately for others we kept her isolated from other dogs. Given that set of circumstances and the fact that we loved this sweet pup and this was in no way the pup's fault we waited it out (big mistake) and played their game. When the adoption was final we took our pup to our vet the very next day and found that our pup had giardia a few days later which had likely spread across the outdoor environment though we picked/cleaned up poo, the liquid poo should have been dug up with the ground it had contaminated and discarded rather than hosed down after pick-up. Two weeks after giardia treatment our pup also tested positive for giardia, (again) coccidia which has cyclic shedding of cysts and is even worse than giardia and persistent roundworms though pup has been dewormed twice already. Now we are facing a massive environmental clean-up after many weeks of not knowing why our pup had diarrhea and that this particular poo needed very specific treatment beyond normal hygienic measures of prompt scooping. We got a lovely puppy, friendly, sweet but this will cost us many thousands of dollars and many more months of labor with toxic cleaners to decontaminate our interior environment of persistent tough to kill microscopic cysts that can be tracked in from walking on the lawn and other outdoor surfaces that might be contaminated. The exterior where pup has pooped poses reinfection threat for up to one year in the case of coccidia. I am often near tears after the third puppy bath and floor bleaching then rinsing a week, professional steam cleaning carpeting every week, bleaching shoe soles and feet and butt wiping in between after every outdoor visit. It's so much more than we should have to do but must do. We have a long emergency, a year of regular poo testing at least, with every relapse the clock starts anew and the poor pup has been on medication after medication and struggles to put on the normal puppy fat though the diarrhea has subsided and has otherwise improved in health. We've had many pet dogs over the years, raising three from puppies, but never, ever had this. I appreciate that these people rescue animals but their procedures around sick animals suck and directly led to this crisis that we are facing. When we asked to see our vet as our pup was non-responsive to the medication we were given, they said that to do so would void the foster to adopt agreement and they would remove our pup from us for breach of contract. There was no way we were going to have that happen. People read on the Save All Dogs Facebook page that pups are being returned by heartless owners but based on our interaction with the contact person, they are likely removed during vet visits for conflict with the terms of agreement, likely when ADVOCATING for the health and safety of their pup. Frankly they should either completely release the animal "as is" with a known issue/s and let adoptees take over with their chosen vets or not present them for adoption at all until they can be fully released rather than have people fall in love with a sick puppy and having that awful "agreement" hang over them like the sword of Damocles' not allowing them to do a thing about it other than voiding the agreement entirely and potentially fighting it out in court. I. Do. Not. Recommend. We would have been far better off money and certainly grief wise to go to the world's most expensive, conscientious breeder and bought a puppy for thousands of dollars. We're already there and it's not over by a long shot. read more

I do recommend this place for adoption. First off the staff here are all extremely caring and dedicated to these animals. They see a lot of situations that most couldn't handle to save these dogs. I spent over $8,500 within the first 48 hours of adopting my brand new puppy (who already had an outrageous adoption fee of $850). this organization is a joke and they have ZERO concern for the well being and health of their animals. It's so sad to see. they should be shut down immediately. everyone be very very careful when considering this establishment. it is more of a puppy mill than puppy adoption center. I would recommend using other shelters to adopt than Save All Dogs Rescue. To put a long story short, my family was looking for a new forever dog, our previous dog had passed away after 12 years, and we were looking to fill a spot that only a dog can. We searched around and found Save All Dogs Rescue and decided to look for our new companion. We found a dog we fell in love with, and brought him home. Early on, we noticed he had a bit of food aggression when he was eating, we quickly searched around for ways to alleviate this issue and tried various methods, such as feeding him from our hands, and so on. None of these appeared to make it any better, and he would still, mainly growl, at my 2 youngest kids when he was eating, even if they were just walking by. I ended up reaching out to the shelter in May ( about ~4 months into owning our puppy) and expressing concern over this. They said they would take him back, however couldn't take him back until Wednesday ( I contacted them on a Saturday). During this 'waiting' period, my wife and I talked, and decided we could keep trying, and maybe he is just going through a phase. Fast forward to today, and it has not gotten better, I reached back out to the shelter to let them know, at this point, we do not feel comfortable to have him near our 2 youngest kids and that, we have made the decision that he was sadly not going to be our forever dog, and when we can bring him back. They responded back, that they will not be able to take him back as they are not staffed well enough to handle food aggression, and they also do not have the room for him, as they are busy getting a bunch of animals from shelters out of state, so room is limited. This brings a few things to my mind: 1. They are more concerned about taking pets from out of state, then the state they do business in. 2. They dont care about the animal once it leaves their doors. If you look at other non-profit shelters in CT, you will see that some specifically state that they will take their animal back, at any point in time. I understand we don't go into dog adoption with the expectation that we will be bringing the animal back. That is clearly not the intent. My problem here is, now that they have confirmed they will not take the dog back, I now have to jump through other steps, and reach out to other shelters. This causes even more undue stress. Save your time, look around, and find a better shelter that generally cares more about the dogs they are adopting out. read more
