Then he and Willie were at my house before noon. They displayed excellent communication and integrity, taking the time to educate me about my options and what the state of the basement was. They confirmed with their moisture sensor what we already suspected - that the carpet had dried out already, but was continuing to harbor mold, so we needed to finish ripping it out, which we had started ourselves. They recommended a cleaning product, and since we were already doing the work ourselves, waived the inspection fee and went on to their next customer. I wouldn't hesitate to call them back if we have any remediation needs in the future.

They're based in Waukegan but we found them because they had done other homes on our street during the same time. They saved us because we didn't have the tools to do it ourselves and we needed to mitigate all water, moisture ASAP before wood paneling in our basement was permanently damaged. As most people experienced, it was extremely difficult to find a damage restoration company that was available and wasn't charging inflated prices to take advantage. The project manager was great and the work was done well. Didn't give a perfect 5 because they threw away a piece of kitchen panel (by accident) that we have to replace and we never sent us quotes for additional work.

Someday we'll find it, the rainbow connection…read more... We had a water backup in our basement (grrr to the former owner once again) and after the clog was cleared the plumber suggested we call Rainbow Restoration for a thorough cleaning. I called them at 8am on a Monday and they said they would have someone out within an hour. James, the owner, promptly came by (less than an hour), surveyed the mess, and provided a quote, and scheduled the work for that morning. I was told exactly what work would be done, and James was there to introduce me to the team, and gave them the rundown. The team completed the work in under 90 minutes, moved all the items back, hooked up the dryer vent, and the rooms were clean and sanitized. While I hope I do not have to use Rainbow Restoration again (fingers crossed), if I need a thorough cleaning sanitation situation, I have this rainbow connection.

There is zero follow up and planning with this company. They were supposed to patch a couple of holes in the ceiling and replace flooring. There has been no direction from them regarding what to replace the tiles with, no samples were reviewed with us. On the first day on the job, they patched the ceiling holes, removed the flooring, and disassembled the bathroom so new flooring could be replaced. That is the last we heard from them. There has been no plans to discuss replacement of flooring or when they are going to finish the job. Who actually disassembles a bathroom without a plan on actually finishing the work? My recommendation? Stay away from this company they have not proven to be a professional organization.

I hired this company for mold remediation and was very disappointed. The crew on-site was polite…read moreand super nice, but the process did more damage than the work itself. I was never told my built-ins would be completely removed, I only discovered it after the fact. Had I known, I could have arranged for proper removal, but instead they were torn out in a way that left them unsalvageable, costing me thousands to replace. Afterward, the company pointed to the notes fine print rather than acknowledging the lack of communication. If you use them, insist on a clearly explained scope of work. If you rely on professionals to help you navigate confusing home repairs, like myself, these aren't your guys. Update to response: First, I want to be clear that I don't believe Adam or the company ever acted with any intent to mislead me or cause harm. I think this situation came down to a lack of communication that unfortunately left me in a difficult position. About 90% of what Adam said in his response is true, but none of it directly addresses my actual concern. The real issue is whether the company made sure I fully understood the scope of work. Perhaps Adam thought... what idiot would not see it was obvious that the entire built-ins would need to be removed? Hi... it's me, I'm the idiot and truly I had no idea. I thought only a portion of my ceiling would be affected. Given the huge difference between what I understood and what actually happened, I believe the company should have explained this much more clearly. Like many homeowners, I rely on professionals to explain the scope of work in plain terms. I think that's a reasonable expectation. Adam is correct with my quote below but he left out the part where I explained that my issue was solely that I didn't know the built-ins were being removed. This was never clearly communicated to me, nor was I given the opportunity to remove them properly myself. Because of that, I feel my ability to make informed decisions was taken away. I only reached out to Adam directly later, after another contractor told me the closet could have been saved and that the removal was "unnecessarily destructive." Whether that's true or not, I'll never know. because I wasn't given the chance to find out. To clarify, the note about the built-ins wasn't hidden in "fine print," but it was only mentioned once in the "Other Notes" section. It was never discussed verbally, by email, or over the phone, and it wasn't included in the detailed action items. I don't think a single mention buried in a notes section qualifies as meaningful disclosure, especially when no one pointed it out or explained its implications. Perhaps Adam does. Lastly, the other points raised, like the quality of the closet materials, water damage, or insurance support, are not relevant to my concern. My issue has always only been about the lack of clear communication regarding the scope of work. Thank you.
