We took Bean for about a week when we realized that while we had vast experience with dogs, we didn't have time or the patience to work out the basics of indoor training, potty training, crate training. We took her back to my son and his roommate, where they kept her for about a month, and by then we were able to afford what, or who was needed. I did a quick check of trainers and I was pleased with her prompt, knowledgable response. She took in Betty Bean for a week, and in that time she learned what she needed, and has been so fun to be around. She still has much to learn, but Clarissa laid down the groundwork for Beanie, and gave us a plan to work with. Since then--she's still a puppy, but her personality has blossomed and I found out in short order that I like getting out of the chair of my day job to have her run around lightning fast in her backyard, or to walk her up and down the street, and play tug of war with her many chew toys. We do daycare and boarding with them, and the facility is just an absolute gem to have in our area. Leslie is the most compassionate and caring person, and her team is top notch. Even as I have watched this business grow over the last decade, the quality of care has remained superior. Boarding rooms are real rooms, there is a later nighttime walk so dogs aren't expected to hold it for 11 or 12 hours like other places we have heard about, they cater to animals with special needs, and all the employees are engaging and care. 12 years is a long time to have one team taking primary care of 3 dogs and we used to have a cat too - so I could write paragraphs of positives for this business, but I'll just let that 12 years serve as an exclamation point. Took our mutt in and 2 x-rays, 1 blood test, 5 take home pain pills later (although she did not exhibit pain behavior) the bill was $728.00. No resolution or assessment of the seizure or possible stroke issue our dog had over the weekend. Wanted us to come back for ultrasound of abdomen. Thought there was a "mass" that showed up on x-ray. She's 12-13 years old so if there is some "mass" present she most likely wouldn't survive any surgery so what's the point? We were just trying to ascertain why she went into a trance like state for several minutes Saturday evening and then was totally lethargic for the next 10 hours. By Sunday morning she was as normal as ever and ate, drank, did her business and was her usual self. Should have just kept her home and saved the $$$$.
