While Amy seemed to be great and really enthused at the beginning, it became clear the "pay ahead"…read moredeal she has going was less genuine than you would assume. After our first three sessions, (one of which she showed up an hour late for), we struggled finding times that she could come to work with us and our pets. She then informed us after our first three May/June sessions that she didn't work evenings or weekends at all through the summer. This was never mentioned before and would have been something we would have never been able to agree to had we known. Prior to this review, (and after she informed us of her seasonal hours), cordial attempts and requests were made at simply refunding our remaining unused sessions in light of this "scheduling misunderstanding" so that we could both move forward. She told us this wasn't possible and that she didn't provide refunds. While she is able to claim she will provide the services, she makes scheduling nearly impossible and eventually you quit trying and she keeps the prepaid training costs. In our case it amounted to a loss for us of over $200.00. While we would like to hope this was a unique and unfortunate situation, we have since talked to several friends and neighbors who have had similar experiences. Absolute obedience is extremely expensive and from the start offers a service that others don't- in home training for your pets with you. However, I would caution anyone about getting involved with this business- there is a great deal of fine print and unmentioned details. From our experience, this seems to be more of a scam and less of someone interested in meeting the needs of clients.

At that point, I had pretty reliably taught her to sit, stay, and come. What I really needed was on & off leash heel, lie down, and for her to do all of the aforementioned with distractions. I've had my dog since she was 7 weeks old, she is pure-bred pedigreed Labrador Retriever, sweet tempered and quite bright. No behavioral issues! When I came to pick her up after two weeks, she had learned NO additional skills! She would not heel or lie down, and would not come to me when distracted. I return her to the trainer, and expressed my disappointment, that my $3000 was essentially spent on dog sitting. She took my dog back for an another full week at no additional charge. Afterwards she told me that she received NOTHING from her boss for doing this (the franchise owner) and took my dog back simply because she did not want me to be dissatisfied. She made some progress in that final week, but we still have a loooong way to go. I do not fault the trainer! She did her best and took my dog on for an additional week for free. The company is a franchise. She shared with me that the owner is in Greenville, he is not even a dog trainer (she described him as a businessman), and she has never met him. She also shared that she JUST QUIT! Her issue was that 2 weeks is not enough time to train a dog to do all of this things that they advertise. Customers were regularly upset when their expectations weren't met. It takes at least 4-5 weeks to accomplish good on-leash results, let alone off leash. I feel like "Off-Leash" over promised knowing that they would likely underperform. The franchisee relies on internet marketing, and a slick phone call/email/text sales pitch. Perhaps the other training service are good, because the trainer that I met seemed excellent - but with the 2 week board and train, the trainers are set up to fail. I wouldn't call it a "scam" but from my experience, and that of others I have talked with since then, you are VERY unlikely to be satisfied. There are other operations right here in Lexington that will do board and train for 4-5 weeks, charge about the same, and not make any "off leash promises". That seems much more realistic and honest. Buyer beware!!!

From the initial consultation, he explained what was expected of me and why, which made it easier for both Rocko and me to adjust and succeed with the techniques. By the end of the program, Rocko was getting compliments from strangers at the park--something I never expected. I'd recommend SC K9 without hesitation.

Since our Golden is turning 9, it seemed like the perfect opportunity to introduce a pup into our lives. I quickly realized our GS, a working breed, wasn't getting enough mental stimulation. The internet searches weren't helping (since they recommend products, not training). Our life is full with two toddler and two dogs. Honestly, I felt overwhelmed and as though I had made a huge mistake that I couldn't take back. In desperation, I reached out to Geoff. Our phone interview made it clear to me that he was incredibly knowledgeable. After our first free session, I knew I wanted to make the investment. I will never regret that decision. Our energetic, crazy puppy became a more mellow companion as soon as we started training her. It was the mental stimulation she craved. After 9 weeks of practicing, tweaking, and training, I feel fully equipped to continue working with my dog(s). Geoff gave me tools for communicating with my dog that are irreplaceable. I'm so thankful for his services and the constant open line of communication. I cannot recommend him enough!

We took Bean for about a week when we realized that while we had vast experience with dogs, we didn't have time or the patience to work out the basics of indoor training, potty training, crate training. We took her back to my son and his roommate, where they kept her for about a month, and by then we were able to afford what, or who was needed. I did a quick check of trainers and I was pleased with her prompt, knowledgable response. She took in Betty Bean for a week, and in that time she learned what she needed, and has been so fun to be around. She still has much to learn, but Clarissa laid down the groundwork for Beanie, and gave us a plan to work with. Since then--she's still a puppy, but her personality has blossomed and I found out in short order that I like getting out of the chair of my day job to have her run around lightning fast in her backyard, or to walk her up and down the street, and play tug of war with her many chew toys. She's such a good girl! And Clarissa's relationship with her has helped her grow every day she's been back. Thank you!
