The best happy hour special for sushi in town!!! Hands down we loved this spot! The service was friendly, we sat at the bar and had plenty of space and natural light. The place was so great!

Stopped here for just a taste. Was seated quickly. Customer service was good. Pricing was comparable. Food was tasty.

Spicy Tuna with Avacado, a must!

Fabulous! We caught happy hour and the choices of drinks and dishes was fabulous!! You could easily miss it if it wasn't for the Chinese lanterns outside!! Do not pass up the Spicy Tuna!! We also had many more which were so good too. You really can't go wrong with anything! So cozy and very sweet wait staff and it was definitely a delight!

Was looking for a Japanese place that was playing the Japan and Sweden game and this spot had plenty of seating for walk in. We ordered some sapporos and the fried rice with pork, which was surprisingly quite tasty! Asked for some chili pepper to add to our rice too. Overall nice staff, chill spot, and a good time!

"Spicy" salmon roll

Every time I go to a new sushi spot in Chinatown I realize I should have just gone to wok and roll. This place seemed good at first glance but is way over priced. When asked to not add sesame seeds our waitress said she understood but still brought it out with and made excuses as to why they were there. I don't understand that logic. It's a cute place but again I'd rather be at wok and roll for the amount and prices I'm getting

Came here with a friend for their happy hour around 6pm and the place was bustling with people! The popularity of this spot makes sense - the happy hour prices are hard to beat, especially in DC. We got four rolls, an order of seaweed salad, some miso soup and two cocktails, all of which came out to under $60 before the tip. The service was a little slower due to the large crowd, but the staff were friendly, the place was cute, festive, and cozy, and the food was fresh and delicious! This place is perfect for a hangout after work in the city.

Sake Oyako Donburi, Fire Crunch Roll

I've been to this place a few times, and I can vouch for the quality of the donburi and sushi. Haven't gotten around to trying any of the soups yet. It's conveniently located a couple blocks from the Chinatown metro, and they have a daily happy hour from 5-7 with some good deals. Staff are nice and professional, and ambiance is warm.

They have happy hour from 5-7pm and it can get busy. Years ago, the nigiri was $1, but now it's at least $2. In any case, it's still a great deal! I love the mackerel and smoked salmon nigiri. I've had soo many great options, but have forgotten. My only complaint is the service isn't great. The waiter I had wasn't attentive to the table. We had to repeatedly flag her down to order more, to get the check, retrieve the check, etc. This seems to be my experience each time.

Great Happy Hour and kind service. Lots of variety on the food menu and many vegetarian sushi options

Pork belly bao
Meridena K.

Nice lunch spot. Not a huge place but could accommodate our group of 7 easily. Food was pretty good, fresh. They seemed to stagger the serving, perhaps because it was a big group. I had the pork belly bao, which was good but wondering if they make the bao in house, and of course need more pork in the sandwich! The tempura was good as well but kind of bland, even with the sauce, but was fresh and crispy so who can complain! There is some paid street parking, but not much!

Came here for a happy hour date and it did not disappoint! Super cute spot with a couple mini bars, it's relatively small but has an intimate feel. Staff were very friendly and they had a great happy hour menu, super reasonably priced. We shared 3 rolls on the HH menu and it was plenty for 2! Overall solid sushi for the area, would definitely return.

Maryland Roll

Came for solo dinner on Monday night. Walking distance from capitol area for conference I was at. Able to get seated quickly. Imagine it busier later in week or on weekends. Food is yummy and good portion sizes. Happy hour 5-7p with good deals for both sushi and non sushi things. Intimate setting with some bar seating as well.

VA Roll
Sehar M.

This place is such a good hidden gem, specifically for their sushi and happy hour that lasts until 7pm. My friend and I shared some crab rangoons and a bunch of different types of sushi, including speciality rolls and nigiri. Everything was wonderful. For sushi, we got the salmon and sweet potato nigiri and one other one. We also shared the VA roll, which was so good and we can't wait to go back and try the Maryland roll. For dessert, we had the mango and sticky rice, which was good, though we could have used more mango. The service was great and the ambiance is wonderful. Seating is anywhere and the place has plenty of seats for a relatively unknown place. Overall, definitely come here for the sushi, especially their unique rolls and great happy hour!

We were given these two cans of Liquid Death, instead of regular glasses of water ( just cans and empty glass cups to serve ourselves the water?? No ice and with no clarifying questions from the server; she took our order. The food was as expected and we were here on a Sunday. I'm not someone who makes a fickle on pricing or service. We ordered the Spicy Miso with the spice bomb and egg, along with the veggie ramen with spice bomb. The Spicy Miso was the clear winner--easily one of the most flavorful ramen bowls I've had, with just the right kick and incredible depth. The veggie ramen was also excellent and a great option for vegetarians. We also tried the gyoza, spring rolls, and Sapporo beer. For dessert, we ordered the black sesame ice cream, but the ramen portions were so generous that we were too full to finish it! Service was quick, attentive, and efficient. I'd heard about this style of dish before and had been wanting to try it, so of course I had to! As soon as I walked in, I was greeted with a smile and seated promptly. I ordered the Chicken Curry Abura Soba, and this was definitely a hit in my book! It smelled and looked so good that I dug right in as soon as it hit the table (so please excuse the picture lol). The curry flavor was rich and full, the noodles were perfectly chewy, and the chicken was crispy on the outside while still moist on the inside. At first, I only mixed everything together slightly and thought it was delicious. But once I REALLY mixed everything and got all of that sauce from the bottom incorporated throughout the noodles? Completely different flavor experience. So good! I also ordered the pork dumplings as an appetizer. I order pork dumplings pretty often when I go out, and whatever version of them Kanjiken is doing, I really enjoyed it. The texture was giving homemade...I don't know if they actually are, but that's what it gave! Either way, they were good. After crying about seeing her for the first time in a year (quite frankly, I have no idea how I made it this long not seeing her), we made the trek to get noodle soup. We had a party of 6 (beautiful, might I add) girls, so we did have to wait about 15 minutes for a table, which was not bad. Not much going on ambiance wise, but you're there for a bowl of ramen, so it doesn't matter. So food--I got the Spicy Tonkotsu Ramen. Pretty good. Not too spicy, but spicy enough to give you a hit. I'm a sucker for corn, so I loved it. The pork chashu was great--it wasn't too fatty. The broth was pretty rich and yum. We (my friend) also got the shumai. It was your average frozen shumai--I'm not saying they were from frozen, just similarities! They were a bit small. The texture was definitely softer. I did down the soy sauce/dipping sauce like a shot--I'm easily convinced, what can I say. Anyways, I would come back around to Ramen Ya when I go to visit my sweet girl in MD. I think this was a great place to get a nice bowl of ramen. (visited on 09/20/26)

When You're Not Feeling Your Best, Ramen Is the Answer!…read more I wasn't feeling well and couldn't tell if I was coming down with a cold or if my body was simply telling me to SIT DOWN AND REST. Either way, I knew I needed something warm and comforting. Normally, I'd head to Mecha, which is just a few steps from my door, but this time I decided to walk a few steps farther and give the JINYA Ramen Bar in Union Market a try. I've been to the Logan Circle location several times, but this was my first visit to the one right in my neighborhood. I LOVE Tan Tan ramen, so naturally I ordered the Tan Tan Men. It comes with a savory chicken-soy broth with sesame, pork soboro, baby bok choy, shredded leek, chili sesame seeds, chili oil, and thick noodles. I don't eat pork, so I swapped the pork soboro for ground chicken, which they were able to accommodate with no problem. The woman at the hostess stand greeted me immediately when I walked in and handed me a menu after I told her I wanted to place a to-go order. She repeated my order back to me and was especially careful to confirm the swap from pork to chicken, which I really appreciated! And can we give a round of applause for the takeout packaging?! The broth came in its own deep, round container, while the noodles and other ingredients were packaged separately. The broth container is wide enough that you can pour everything directly into it and eat from there if you don't have a bowl available. Since I was headed home, I transferred everything into one of my own bowls, but I love that you don't need to. Most importantly, the ramen hit the spot! Warm, flavorful, a little spicy, and exactly what I needed while feeling under the weather. I stopped in around 1 p.m., and there were a few people dining inside. While I waited for my order, I also saw probably five people come in to grab takeout orders, so clearly the neighborhood knows what's up. The restaurant itself is a nice size, with traditional tables as well as ramen bar seating. Price-wise, JINYA is pretty comparable to the other ramen spots around the area, so nothing particularly surprising there. Overall, great service, delicious ramen, thoughtful takeout packaging, and the convenience of having it right in the neighborhood. I'll definitely be back -- although hopefully next time it's because I'm craving ramen and not because my body is begging me to go home and get in the bed.

There is plenty of seating spread out over both downstairs and upstairs levels. Located right in the Union Market area, so parking can definitely be tough. Your best bet is to use the local garages, park at Union Market, or if it's way too busy, head across Florida Avenue to park in the residential area. Highly recommended!
