I am writing this review because I feel that I am obligated to do so to warn others about the experience they can expect to have. I made an appointment for a regular checkup with the doctor and went in filled out some forms and was attended to by the assistant who was absolutely friendly, then I was taken to the dental chair to be given an examination by the doctor, the doctor had a pano-xray taken of me and I was surprised because usually pano-xrays are not used to diagnose cavities.
During the exam, the doctor did not refer to the x-rays much, he just conducted his exam with a mirror and explorer, he diagnosed me with nearly a dozen cavities, and I was really surprised given how I actually care about my dental hygiene routine. But even so, I simply asked if he could give me a copy of that dental chart that he was writing a bunch of notes on which shows which tooth the doctor thinks has a cavity and on which surface, when I asked he brushed it off as if it didn't happen. Then I asked him if he could show my on the x-ray where these cavities are, he than asked me sarcastically what line of work I am in (as if why are you asking these questions, who do you think you are) and again he looked at the x-ray and said well I see some here but you can't really see it, so then wanting to know a little more as I felt this exam was a bit too lite I asked him if I could take a look and he took out a camera and put it in my mouth, without the appropriate saran wrap on it and showed be 2 holes on my tooth, and then proceeded to hint "ok that's it".
So I then said ok and asked him if I could have a printout or email of the pano scan I took because at the end of the day I am paying for these services. I proceeded to the front desk which is staffed by the doctor's wife, this is where the entire appointment went downhill. I was nothing but respectful to the entire staff, when I went to the front I asked the doctor one more simple question while the wife was on the phone and told him I would really appreciate a copy of the dental work that he thought I needed to have done, because I like to keep records on everything. Reluctantly, he wrote down the tooth numbers on a piece of paper with a tiny printout of my x-ray and the wife handed it to me. Then when I proceeded to pay I simply asked the lady (and keep in mind this is the first time I start talking to her) if she could send me an email of the pano scan. The both of them murmured no and then the wife told me "Now you want an email too?" "You are asking too much of me." At this point I was astounded.
I calmly said no I am not asking too much of you, I would simply like the email of the scan I just paid $70 for so I can be on my way, and then she asked me which race are you. And then she said that the people of that race come in for a consultation and go to another doctor. And I tried explaining to her that I simply want to keep records of my visitation. She went on being completely rude and unprofessional saying things to a new patient that just left me mind boggled. And when her husband and assistant noticed they both quickly hurried to the back. And then she reluctantly took my email, and as I was about to walk out she stops me and says "Don't go, wait until you get your email I don't want you complaining later that you didn't get it." And as I stood there waiting she kept talking about how she is a doctor and that every doctor has a treatment plan of their own. She gave me the impression that she thought I wanted my diagnosis so I can get the work done with another doctor. She then again asked me why do you want your diagnosis, are they going to work on your teeth at home." At this point I realized having a reasonable discussion with this person was no longer viable, I confirmed receiving the email and promptly left.
30 minutes later I get a phone call from the wife again asking me whether I want a detailed transcript of what I had done at the office (another sarcastic comment) and then she proceeded to tell me "I am hopeful that you know I was just joking with you when you were here" and that "I shouldn't be offended."
News flash lady, I am offended! What started off as a friendly appointment, you and your husband turned into an abomination!
Every patient has the right to know what their diagnosis is and what treatment plan is suggested along with any supporting documentation such as x-rays.
The funniest part in all of this is that I was actually going to get the work done at this place, but that lady threw that out the window.
This dental clinic goes to serve as the very basis as why you should just stick to whatever doctor you have already, unfortunately mine told me I had cavities and then took a vacation out of country so that wasn't an option for me.
Heed my warning, stay far away from this place, especially if you are a new patient looking to find a decent dentist to work on your teeth.
Absolute horrible experience, shame on the doctor and his wife! read more
