This place is perfect for me. I wanted a ranch that focuses on riding, which the T Cross does -- they don't force you to ride but unless you fish that's about it. It's small and not pretentious, family-run and a bit remote. Cell phones don't work here so it's a great place to disconnect. Cabins are spotless and vary in size. Food is plentiful and delicious. I have no food allergies but the ranch definitely bends over backwards to accommodate those who do. There's a multi-compartment refrigerator on the main lodge porch and each cabin has its own compartment. You can put your soft drinks/wine/whatever in there and nobody takes anything that isn't theirs. The wranglers do a great job at matching horses to riders, and they're willing to swap horses if things don't work out. They also do a great job at dividing the guests so that experience riders aren't stuck with rank beginners, and rank beginners aren't pushed past their comfort level. The week I was there last year, they tried to keep the kids in separate rides so that the adults could do a little more challenging riding.

The day after her accident, we contacted Equitours and asked if there was SOME dispensation that could be made given this turn of events. While we understood we could not recoup much of our costs (to be clear and fair - we were under the 30 day window, and understand trip guides need to be paid and horses managed for rider spots) we thought perhaps Equitours would work with us and extend some recompense for SOME part of our trip - a credit, a transfer, someone to take our place - we suggested a seriously discounted rate of 40 or 50% off on their website or social media- any rate to get a little back! Equitours simply posted the trip at a 10% discount once on their Facebook page and then our agent immediately went on vacation, kicked off her OOO, and dropped us since our trip was paid for and that was that. No communication, nor was a a single dime of our trip was refunded, transferred, or credited. Equitours pretty much said "oh well." We will NEVER do an Equitours ride again nor would we recommend this company for their terrible customer service.

Biggi with Equitours answered all of my questions. The recommendations for clothing, essentials and travel requirements were all correct, making preparations easy. The guides, Stefnir and Anita were absolutely amazing, and made everyone feel like a member of their family. The trip was well organized with attention to safety and and care of horse and rider. Their knowledge of local history and lore was shared with obvious love of their heritage. The Icelandic horses are indeed amazing in both their strength and their beauty. Thank you, Equitours, Inc. I will definitely be riding with you again.

They definitely have lots of locals but also tons of people coming through on snowmobiles. My server was amazing. She kept everything clean, checked on everyone constantly, while alarms grabbing and serving the food keeping things clean checking on people etc etc and did it while making people laugh and smile. I ordered this delicious breakfast with home made biscuits that were heavenly! The eggs hashbrowns and maple sausages cooked to perfection! Ryan came in to get a bite with me before we headed back to Denver! He was also greeted and got him some breakfast as well he got an omelette which he also enjoyed! We went to pay and during that moment a person came into this tiny adorable diner and casually said "we have 24 people " . I looked at the server and she smiled and said I'm gonna pretend to not be overwhelmed by that lol we all laughed smiled and she handled that situation like such a champ. Ryan and I scurried out. So note to large groups if you have well over 20 people you should totally call ahead especially if you plan on going into a little diner in a small town. But I was so impressed with how they handled it with a smile and a laugh and took care of everyone as we headed out. Go check out cowboy cafe ... and don't do what I did I forgot to get some pie to go... I heard great things about the pie. I may come back just for that alone! :)

Upon arrival, the ranch is electic, well maintained and welcoming. We stayed during the shorter, 5 night adult only week, and we spent several days horseback riding, exploring, relaxing and hiking. The ranch spans so much acreage and offers endless routes for walking and hiking. The staff are so lovely and love to help you plan your events. The fishing guide was great and we got to go explore the rivers nearby. The chef, Toby, was phenomenal and he was the highlight of the trip becuase every single meal (all provided in your package, 3 meals and snacks every day!), were out of this world. I cannot stress how amazing the food was! The night sky guide, the petroglyphs hike, the little reading room, the dogs, everything was perfect. I hope to visit CM Ranch again with my own children one day!
