The back door has a bench facing the mountains for watching wildlife and the beautiful scenery. It's more like a small cabin with a vaulted ceiling, two queen beds, a very large wood table (for bags, boxes and other supplies), microwave, refrigerator, a leather chair and a small kitchen table for two ( which my man is using as a desk. The bathroom is HUGE. The sink area is smaller than those hotel rooms that have that large flat area outside the bathroom where the sink and mirror are located. There is about 5 feet of open space so you don't have to put you face near the toilet when you dry yourself off. The beds are super clean and super comfortable. The Ranch Brand is all over the room. On the headboards, back of the chairs, and even on the mirror. Everything is made from wood, no plastic, cloth or pleather chairs and tables. We checked in late, so we haven't yet taken advantage of the rest of the property. There are some 'trails' or walk around the property. The Walkabout Loop goes around the whole property, which is right next to the Wind River. There is a playground and firepit. They have 10 tent sites and 55 RV sites. You can pull through, pull in, back out your RV. They even have some spaces for 'big rigs'. There are also 4 cabins as well, so they have whatever level of comfort you're looking for. Can't wait to come back, maybe stay in a cabin and take a horse ride.

So they are helpful. Great big shade trees and lots of places for your furry guy. Some areas have weeds with stickers in them watch your dog's feet. The little round stickers are painful to remove. I really wish more rv parks would plant actual grass instead of just letting the weeds be the green spaces. That's my only complaint but almost every park has the same thing I guess growing grass is an expense they don't want to fix.

But it's a really virtuoso performance, and while her clientele may be select, they are immensely appreciative of the red-carpet welcome she offers. And if the red carpet isn't enough, ask for the USGS map of Louise Lake and the walking guide to the petroglyphs. Your tired feet will thank you, in the sauna, afterward.

We checked in and everything was fine until we started to use the wifi. It was not working. When I called the front desk I was told there was a problem with the equipment. It would work in the main Lodge but, not out in the cabins. We were very satisfied with the cabin but, not the problem with the wifi. I was a big inconvenience to have to go to the main Lodge every time to use the internet. They serve a very nice Continental breakfast in the morning with all sorts of goodies. There are some really nice restaurants in town that you can walk to for a meal. If you plan to stay in a cabin check first to see if the wifi has been fixed.

The views and peace that comes over your soul are just healing. Who cares if it is gravel and has no shower house, I have a house on wheels! What we all need more of is what this jewel offers. The designer really thought about where to situate the sites. Considering all are on a massive hillside, the fact our site was level enough to just park it and walk in is quite impressive. We are traveling in our Arctic Fox truck camper and larger rigs might not find it the same, but it is definitely worth the effort to settle in for a night or a week of nights.

We didn't really know what to expect, especially after driving through Dubois (pop. 962). We are from southern California and love to get away from everything that is 'city/suburb life'. We pulled through the log arch and onto the property. We crossed a small bridge spanning the Wind river, continued on the dirt road and parked in front of our cabin. It was as awe-inspiring as the pictures from their website. About 10 minutes after we arrived, Martin (the owner) drove up and introduced himself. We had a wonderful conversation. He was very welcoming, answered all of our questions and suggested numerous activities that we may want to undertake during our stay. He advised us of the scenic areas we could visit at the time (it had recently snowed so certain places/roads were closed). He was very knowledgeable and went out of his way to make sure we had plenty of options from which to choose. He even took the quads that they have available and scouted the trails in the area to make sure they were safe and clear of debris should we want to use them. The cabin, along with the entirety of the property, was immaculate. The kitchen was stocked with all necessities, as well as some non-essentials that certainly proved helpful. To make a long story longer, we had an amazing stay. It was, without question, our favorite vacation and a big part of that was because of Martin and the Big Diamond Ranch. Thanks again Martin (and family)! We'll be seeing you again soon.

A Perfect Getaway From the Busy city life!!!…read more Lava Mountain Lodge was exactly the peaceful escape I needed from the busy Bay Area. It's a cute, charming lodge with beautiful mountain views, fresh scenery, and even horses nearby, which made the experience feel extra special. They have a small gas station and restaurant on-site, making it very convenient when traveling through the area. The restaurant was a pleasant surprise--the food was delicious, and the presentation was absolutely immaculate with a surprisingly fancy, elevated feel. The views and peaceful surroundings are definitely the highlight. Being surrounded by nature, watching the horses, and taking in the scenery was such a refreshing change from city life. I enjoyed my stay so much I hardly took any photos. The staff were extremely friendly and welcoming. Overall, this is a wonderful place to stop, grab a great meal, relax, and enjoy the views.
