I hired this company 11/29/2023 and Steven came out to cut our very large Oak Tree in Placer County. At this time I was satisfied with the job when it was done. Recently due to the past storm we had the weekend of 2/4/2024 I had the top of the entire Oak Tree come crashing down which created very large trunks of the tree, branches and debris. I called Steven to come out and give me an estimate. Instead he was very different and said he was busy with big dollar jobs and really did not want to help my husband or me knowing it was a very large job for my husband to do who is a heart patient. Spoke bad about our tree which is protected in Placer County you are unable to remove. DO NOT USE HIM!!!! FALSE ADVERTISEMENT: Advertises as licensed and told me he is, but is not. He came to cut some branches down, left the whole mountains of branches in my front yard, then tells me he will be back the next day to clean up. The next day, he doesn't show up, I end up calling him to hear him say that he will not be coming back unless I pay him an additional $300 for the cleanup. We talked and said that's not what we agreed upon and he agreed to come the next day to finish cleaning up. He shows up late in the day, cleaned up one branch all the while walking around the neighborhood, then proceeds to URINATE in my front yard, which was literally recorded on my security camera. After urinating, he just gets back in his car and leaves. I call and he says it's not fair to him that I won't pay him. I proceed to ask him for his license number so I can look into him, he tells me he is licensed in Berkeley, I say that's fine just give me that. He refuses to give it to me saying it's expired and then admits he is not currently licensed. I ended up paying another company additional money to clean up after his mess. HE HAS BEEN REPORTED to the Contractors State License Board. Per their website, "It is illegal for an unlicensed person to perform contracting work on any project for which the contract price is $500 or more, including labor and materials." read more

Taking several weeks to remember to write a review for a couple of guys who did a great job on your trees in a more than reasonable amount of time, for a price that nobody could beat! Forgetting to write the review like that is flakey! But like I said, these guys are NOT. Steven came by to look at the job shortly after I first reached out to him and others for estimates. In fact, he was my 2nd of 3 total estimates and I really should have called the 3rd guy and told him never mind, because I knew nobody was going to be able to beat Steven's price. And it wasn't like one of those "oh sure, you get what you pay for" kinda things. They did a really great job and cleaned everything up and hauled it away. I have waited several months to post this review hoping things would look better. They were responsive. Good value...no as they brutalized one of our trees in front. It is a street joke and someone even put a Lorax on it. It looks terrible and is basically ruined. They did offer to remove it only after the ruined it for good. Last Friday due the nasty wind we had I posted asking for recommendations for a tree company due to our huge tree about to fall on the front of our house due to wind damage. We already had 3 huge limbs high up break off and fall just as went walked by and entered our house about two weeks prior in another wind storm. Above It All Tree Care was able to come out during the wind storm last Friday within 20 mins while the tree was going crazy and make a plan to cut down and remove the tree the was leaning over the front of our house. Also remove all the roots that have caused havoc throughout our grass, gone under our concrete, and had worked its way towards water sources. Would not give a bid until they knew the other bids. Yeah, they asked. Gave a price in the middle, then hounded me for 3 days about how dangerous the branches were while I was collecting the rest of the bids, saying they could do it on Friday. So I caved in, said yes, then they changed it to Monday. Told all the other tree guys I already found someone, thanks anyway. Monday morning they text me and say we changed our minds, we don't want to do the job, however, they will remove the branch stuck in the tree for 500 bucks. I am 71 years old and have been living in the same house for 37 years. All those prior years I trimmed my own bushes but now my age is catching up with me. So I decided to go on Angi to hire a company to trim my bushes mostly and 1 tree that keeps coming over on my side of the fence. Steve the owner of the above business almost called me immediately for a bid. He showed up about 15 minutes later and gave me a bid of $700.00. So I went ahead to booked an appointment for Yesterday, 8/1/2023. They, a crew of 5, showed up at 6:45am. They started trimming my bushes, everyone of them had 8 foot hedge trimmers and one 8" chain saw. Everything was going ok, but not one person had a small hedger to get in the tight spots. They picked up all the trimmings and put them in the back of a trailer out front. They really seemed to be in a huge rush. But they were so careless and didn't really care if the bushes were cut straight or even and really disorganized to say the least. Anyway they finished and were cleaning up and blowing trimmings in my garden up against the house, sort of hidden. At one point, a gentleman came to me and asked if I was paying with cash or a check. I told him what I was giving him and he replied "OK". I handed my payment about 5 minutes later. I asked Steve to blow off my front garden one more time, which they did. They were getting ready to leave and one of them again asked my for the payment, I told him I gave it to the guy wearing all black. So off they went. After the left, it took me 2 hours to just clean up the trimmings in the front yard, it was a mess. I went to the backyard and today I will be spending at least 3 hours back there to get all the clippings up. This morning my drip system turned on and they broke off 3 sprinklers that now have to be repaired. I blame myself for hiring this company, I should of done some checking first and probably obtained another bid. They do the work, but are very sloppy. I think they were here for almost 1 hour total and trimmed 17 bushes and 1 tree. Also I believe this is my first review on yelp, I am not a review kind of guy, especially negative. read more
