The volunteers who work at Treehouse are great; I don't mean to disparage them or their commitment in the slightest. But I remember being a victim of physical violence at the hands of older kids at Treehouse and not once seeing anyone reprimanded. There's only a facade of supervision and authority. Sure, the field trips are nice and the free therapy can be helpful, but I've come to regret spending as much time as I did there. I was once reprimanded for reading a horoscope to myself by an adult volunteer because she considered it satanic. That same person left a handful of us at the Mall of America because we were five minutes late meeting her at the agreed-upon place. The religious conversations were often one-sided and, as a fledgling yet respectful atheist, I often felt disrespected for simply asking questions. On the plus side, the answers were dubious enough to continuously convince me not to step foot in another church (also: don't want to burst into flames!). I'm not the sort to ask a question just to stare with bemusement at a believer, or at least I wasn't at the time. Teenagers: If you're already religious, you should just get involved in a church in your neighborhood. You probably won't be surprise body-slammed at a church. If you're not religious, you're probably not interested in the hassle of being around believers.

Goodwills can be a bit hit and miss, but this one is usually worth the trip…read more Like all Goodwills, this one can get really crowded (I've been unable to find parking during peak hours), so I recommend arriving early in the day. This location is one of the biggest I've seen in the area, and they're especially good for kitchen goods, housewares, and coats. It seems to me that most Goodwills have done away with dressing rooms, so if you're hoping to check for fit, you may be out of luck if you're not in your most slim-fitting outfit. There are some longer mirrors over on the wall near the clothing, though. Checkout was efficient, and the cashiers cheerful despite the hectic pre-Halloween crowds.

I love to see that they have expanded and the facilities are nice. When you walk in they have a market that sells various handmade items from various counties. Even if you don't volunteer you are welcome to stop by and shop the market. They are a Christian based nonprofit but you do not have to be Christian to volunteer. They do offer prayer over the meals you packed after the shift but you do not have to participate in that if it's not your thing. The staff are very nice, welcoming and accommodating. They have smaller lockers to use to store your belongings which is nice. The layout of the production for is nice and easy to follow. They assign you to a table and you work with others to pack the meals. Very simple process. Clean up is quick and easy afterwards. It genuinely feels good to volunteer and see the impact you make. FMSC always gives great testimonials of the work they do. Check them out if you are looking for volunteer opportunities!

I love coming here. I'm not sure exactly when I started coming here but it's been since around 1997…read moreat least. I had tried 2-3 other brands of hearing aids starting f around age 15 before trying Starkey. The company I had before Starkey made my ears bleed. Literally. It was a horrible year and a half trying to find a solution with that company. From the moment I stepped into Starkey a few decades ago thru today, it has been nothing but an amazing experience for me. Not only are the hearing aids themselves custom fit and programmed to be perfect for me, I actually love coming here. They have always been great at getting me in for a repair as quickly as possible and the staff here is amazing! The last time I upgraded to new hearing aids, the founder, Bill Austin himself, fitted the finished aids for me and tweaked them. I honestly don't know very many founders of huge companies that still put in hours on the floor after a company gets big enough for them not to do so.

The staff did an awesome job sharing the history of lake minnetonka and explaining the role of steamboats and depots in the area. Great staycation and enough to do around downtown wayzata or excelsior for a solid day of friends and family. We had grand parents, parents, tweens and kids and they all loved it. Only regret...
